He doesn't do commitment. She's his dead friend's wife. They can never be more than friends.
Piper Stevens had already met—and lost—the love of her life. When she buried her husband, she buried her chance for a happily ever after…but also found a shoulder to lean on in Nate.
As a commitment-phobe womanizer, Nate Hall has never had a female as a friend, but he made a promise to his buddy before he passed. Take care of Piper.
And these days? He can’t imagine his life without her.
Now, a year later, things Piper thought were long gone are beginning to come back. Like her previously healthy libido.
Except she can't picture dating someone in her husband's place, nor can she sleep with a stranger either.
So, she turns to Nate. After all, he's the perfect choice. He's her friend but also a player. He cares about her but they'll never fall in love…and she won’t get hurt. Not like she did when she lost her husband.
But can two friends give their bodies without involving their hearts and things turning nasty?
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. They met in college and bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. They write spicy romance that often makes you laugh.
Piper found her happily ever after. She married him and made a home with him. Unfortunately, fate threw a curveball and Piper lost her husband in a car accident. A year later and Piper finds herself in need of some loving. She misses her husband but she also misses the intimacy. Since the accident her husband's friend, Nate has been there for her.
Nate is not the settling down type. He doesn't do relationships. He likes the easy lay. When Piper approaches him with a no strings attached sexy rendezvous, Nate can't believe his luck. Piper has become one of his best friends. She's beautiful and sexy. He's always found her attractive but the circumstances have always made her someone else's.
This is a friend with benefits story which could lead to so much more. Piper loved her husband but that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a second chance at love.
This book is sexy, frisky and heartwarming. Nate has found the one woman worth risking everything for.
Nasty is a standalone story. However, the other characters feature in this story and reading the rest of the series will enhance this read but it's not essential.
*Adult scenes not made for Reading in public ;).
Beta-reader with no obligation to review. 5 out of 5 loved it. I don't usually read widow stories but this one was not depressing.
This friends-to-lovers romance was a nice surprise, a year after losing her husband Piper finds herself waking up, her desires bubbling to the surface but dipping her toes back into the dating pool doesn’t go so well, so she decides to act on her attraction to one of her best friends (who also happens to be her deceased husband’s bestie).
I really disliked the author depicting
Also, despite Jordan being depicted as the love of Piper’s life at the start of the book, it never feels like Nate is second best – thank goodness! The guilt trip Jordan’s parents put on Piper – I know they were still mourning their son but still not cool, particularly given the indications, that they were rather emotionally distant as parents. The author did rather well in highlighting Piper’s struggle to move on from her husband.
WOW! I was BLOWN AWAY by Nasty! Piper, a widow, and Nate, her late husbands friend, have leaned on each other since the death of their loved one. Nate being with him, he promised to take care of Piper, and Nate takes that very seriously. He helps her around the house and makes sure she needs for nothing.
I really enjoyed this cast of characters. The chemistry between Nate and Piper was strong from the beginning, before evolving to another level. Their friendship is so important. I loved the complexity of the characters, Nate's family was unexpected but added so much to who he is. Piper was restless, unsure of how to move on. Her heart was torn as she navigated this road she never expected to be on.
Overall, Nasty is a MUST READ. It's complex and addictive. This is the second book of a series but is a standalone. I found the book to be paced a bit slow, but felt that it was have been disrespectful to the characters if it wasn't. This wasn't a typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, there are so many levels to this story that are navigated beautifully.
This was another good read in the series. I was happy that Piper was able to move on and start over. I felt bad that her in-laws tried to be jerks about it. At least she fell for a guy that everybody could be happy about. I liked Nate and was glad that in the end he could be happy too. They both deserved it.
This was one of those guilty pleasure reads that isn’t all that dramatic but rather easy to digest with a sprinkle of sexy.
While I don’t know any real life situations of this, I can only imagine that these situations really do happen in real life. After all, your [deceased] best friends woman? That’s a pretty close connection that was already there and east to build off of. Especially when there was already an attraction there even if it was taboo to even think of.
Some of the content here felt a bit more dramatic but over all I liked it.
Stories with a touch of the forbidden are one of my favorites! In Nasty, book two in the Naughty series, by R.L. Kenderson we get a touch of the forbidden in this friends with benefits story.
Piper Stevens married the love of her life. She was happy and in love. Then she buried her husband and everything changed. Nate Hall does not do relationships or any long-term type of relationships with females. But when his friend dies, he is determined to be there and support Piper.
Now almost a year after her husband’s death, Piper is experiencing things she thought were long gone. But she can also not imagine dating anyone or someone taking her husband’s place. Nate has been so supportive and there for her, but he is also a man who avoids any commitments. Maybe they can have a no strings friends with benefits relationship with each other and keep all feelings out of it. Easy, right?
Then the sexy times begin and when two people have a friendship and then feel a spark, all bets are off. Because neither is ready for more, there is tension and guilt. Their journey is not always an easy one, but their chemistry is strong. But can Piper again open her heart again and can Nate finally commit? So worth finding out! I devoured this book as quickly and I could!
4.5 stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
COPY RECEIVED FOR HONEST REVIEW Nate and Piper became close friends after the death of her husband. Nate was in the accident that claimed his life. He looked out for Piper and the were strictly friends. After her husband's death, Piper drifted. One day her libido wakes up and all bets are off. After a few miscues she realizes Nate is the perfect man to help. They are already friends and he does not do relationships. The expected happens and they fall for each other. First they have to work through guilt, past pain and insecurities. Loved the story and loved the characters. Fun, sexy scenes that make the characters real. Great series.
Nasty (Naughty #2) By: R.L. Kenderson Great Balance Between Drama & Se*y Times!! What's a Widow to do when her libido suddenly decides to awaken, but she's already had & lost the love of her life... How's she supposed to scratch that itch without dating a bunch of losers, leading some poor sap on, or even worse getting an STD... Hmmmm, suddenly my husband's bestfriend is looking mighty FINE~ just look at him strutting around without his shirt... D@mn! When did he get Sooo Smokin' HOT! Ohhh, yeah! She's got the Perfect Plan; she's gonna Pony up & Ride him HARD to scratch that itch! After all, he's not looking for long-term, & neither is she... Well, at least that was the PLAN! I was granted an ARC of R.L. Kenderson's "Nasty (Naughty #2)" via Booksprout; I found this book extremely enjoyable. I'm gladly recommending it based upon its own merits. I'll definitely be looking forward to more opportunities to read R.L.'s work in the future. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given. Until next time... Happy Reading!
This is the first book I've read by this duo and it certainly won't be the last. They write great characters,a well-thought out plot, and smoldering sexy scenes. The characters are relatable and the emotions are realistic. It's hard to write about deep emotions and make the reader feel and this book has all the feels. There is humor, witty sexy banter, great turns, and an nice twist at the end. Piper has been a grief-stricken young widow for a year, her only solace her dead husband's best friend, Nate. After a year of friendship and support, Nate unexpectedly stirs her libido. While the idea of moving forward terrifies her, the guilt she feels for wanting a sex life and the loss of Jordan has her being more than cautious. Nate has his own guilt. He feels responsible for Jordan's death and takes the promise he made to his dying friend to heart: Take care of Piper. His support cements their friendship, but as time goes on she kicks in feelings that Nate has fought his entire life. Nate carries his own baggage from his past, as well as his player reputation. So they can just be friends with benefits, right? What could go wrong? I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to finish this book. I found I could not put it down and I can't wait for another read from R.L. Kenderson
Emotion filled, laugh out loud funny and super steamy! I loved Piper and Nate’s story! The underlying plot is easy to fall into and follow throughout the book. The characters both have past heartache that has defined who they are today and they each are trying to work through some of their issues. They’re really adorable together as best friends, and as lovers, oh my, they heat up the place for sure! Really enjoyed their story!
When Piper Stevens lost her husband a year ago, she figured life as she knew it was over. They never got the chance to start that family they always dreamed of, so now it won’t happen. She became numb when her husband died and parts of her never came back to life. She’s going through the motions of her new life with the support of her good friend Nate by her side.
Nate Hall was her husband’s best friend, and he promised him he’d take care of her. He’s a major player who has never been friends with a member of the opposite sex before, but this past year has been eye opening for him and he now adores Piper and would do anything for her. When she comes asking him to be the one that reawakens her sexual journey though, that one he’s not so sure about! He wants her, he won’t deny that … but she’s a happily ever after type of woman. Can she really be happy settling for just sex?

Piper marries the love of her life Jordan and they move away for his work but he is taken away after only a few months of marriage. His best friend Nate, who was also in the accident with Jordan has promised Jordan on his death bed to take care of Piper for him.
Over the course of the following year, Piper is putting the pieces of her life back together...with Nate's help. They are constantly together and she has become very close with not only him but all of his friends. Naturally feelings start to develop on both their ends but Piper knows that Nate is not a relationship type of guy and feels she needs to put her walls up. Nate, however, has other ideas.
I've read this type of storyline many times. It moved quickly and there were some funny moments and Nate really grew on me but nothing spectacular happened and I could have guessed the ending by the first half of the book. For me it was sweet but just ok.
Wow!! This story was passionately and emotionally charged from beginning to end!! Meet Piper and Nate. Piper lost her husband at a young age in a car accident. Nate was her husbands best friend and was in the accident when her husband made Nate promise to always look after Piper. Fast-forward years down the road and Nate has kept that promise and him and Piper are best friends. Even if Nate has fought to keep his dirty thoughts to himself in regards to Piper. But this all changes when Piper's libido returns and it is directed at Nate. What happens when these two come full circle? A highly combustible fire has been started and once will never be enough!!! Can these two overcome their misbegotten guilt? Can Nate give up his hit it and quit it persona and realize his happiness has been there all along! You will have to read to find out. I highly recommend this read!!!! I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
A really wonderful book. An engaging and emotional storyline, with likable characters and plenty of emotion and steam. This twist on the friends with benefits trope hits the bullseye with the addition of a heartbreaking tragedy and a promise. I loved Piper and Nate. Regardless of the loss in her past and his love 'em and leave 'em ways, they seemed to fit together beautifully and were just what the other needed in so many ways. Could be read as a standalone but for full immersive experience and total knowledge of all characters I recommend reading them all and in order. This is my completely honest, voluntary review.
I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily submitting my honest review. I am a huge fan of the authors of this book series and their other book series as well. The authors create realistic characters that are both sexy and funny at the same time. In this story, Nate is honoring is best friend's dying wish by looking after his friend's widow, Piper. I love how Nate is always there for Piper when she needs him as a friend and that the two are strictly friends until Piper has time to grieve over the loss of her husband. I found the ending predictable, but the story itself was well written with plenty of steam and lots of laughs too :)
Another smashing hit for the duo known as R.L. Kenderson! If I didn’t know any different, I would think this was the work of one person, because the writing between the two is flawless together. The storyline and dialogue flow so effortlessly that you don’t know where one author’s words ends and the other’s begins.
I fell in love with Piper and Nate from the start and was completely wrapped up in their story. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I love a book that grabs ahold of my heart and gives me all the emotions. And hello….all the steamy, sexy, fan-my-face, I-want-to-be-a-character-and-not-just-read-these-scenes! Damn, I love it all!
Nasty is the first book I've read in this series and it can be read as a standalone. This was a great friends with benefits story. There were sad, sweet, funny and steamy moments in this story and I enjoyed Nate and Piper's characters a lot. The chemistry between them was off the charts which led to some very steamy scenes. I found some parts a little slow but the slow parts didn't last long and I finished this book in one sitting. I definitely look forward to reading more books from this author in the future.
I really liked this book! I thought it took a tragic, hard-to-imagine hit from life and turned it into a realistic romance.
Nate was so wonderful to Piper. He was everything she needed him to be and then so much more. He adored her and it was clear throughout the entire book from his words and actions.
Piper struggled, as any woman would in her situations, but for the most part maturely handled all the curveballs life threw at her.
This book was a quick afternoon read, and I enjoyed it!
Nate finally met his match in Piper. It was truly sad what happened to Jordan, but Piper was way too young to give up on everything. I laughed when Luke and Elise couldn't seem to stay out of laundry rooms and when Nate and Piper got their revenge. I loved reading from Fred's point of view, it was absolutely hilarious. When Mrs. Grant overheard Piper "praying" I nearly fell off my chair I was laughing so hard.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
A sweet sexy story! Piper is a widow, her husband was best friends with Nate. Nate promised Jordan that he’d keep Piper safe. Piper’s and Nate’s feelings for each other get stronger and their chemistry can’t be denied. Great characters, awesome chemistry, drama, guilt, humour, passion, love and I loved their journey to their HEA. 💋
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I really enjoyed this book by R. L. Kenderson, it had a great story and it pulled me in and kept me engrossed from start to finish. I loved the chemistry between the characters and also the way they interacted with each other. “Nasty” is a must have Book and is a really great read
I thought this was a good read and it had a lot of emotions going on in it to were I felt everything that was happening with the characters .This can be read as a standalone I highly recommend this book alone with book one in the Naughty series .
Nasty by Renae and Lara Kenderson is the next installment in their Naughty Series. The previous books are Kinky, Dirty and Sexy: Luke and Elise . Nasty is a full length, standalone friends to lovers novel. For better understanding I recommend to read the books in order. Piper Stevens lost her beloved husband in a car accident and she´s devastated. Now one year later, she takes a good look at her life and her friend Nate. Nate Hall was a great friend to Piper all the time. But he´s a player, a non-relationships guy. He took care for Piper but now they have this crazy attraction and their chemistry is through the roof high. They agree on a strictly friends with benefits relationship, but like always it doesn´t stay that way. Soon Piper wants more, but Nate´s afraid to give his all. There´s a lot of heartbreak and drama, twists and turns. I read the story in one sitting and I like the characters, the writing and the words.
Another winner from RL Kenderson! I loved Nate and Piper's story! Nasty is a hot friends to lovers story, with a great balance of angst, funny, and sexy.
Fragile Piper wakes up to realize she's not so fragile anymore...
This is just as much sexy and hot as it is heartbreaking and heartwarming.
Piper has been a widow for over a year but doesn't know what's next for her life. Nate is a flirty dog that is perfectly happy staying that way. He promised her dying husband he'd look after her and he has, he's been her best friend. But after all this time she thinks she might be seeing him in a different way and she's very confused.
So hawwwt and, of course, nasty - in all the best ways!! Mmmhmmmm! Loved it!!!
Nasty is a great addition to R.L. Kenderson's Naughty series. Piper and Nate were believable characters with very human emotions and feelings. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning devouring the story in one sitting. I look forward to reading more from this writing team. I received an advance reader copy via Booksprout.
The story of Piper and Nate is the second book in the Naughty Series. Her late husband was Nate's best friend and he promised him that he'd look after her if something happened to him. He's a player, not into commitments and his relationships with woman were always centered around the bedroom. Looking after Piper after her husbands death changed him in many ways as he finds out that he actually enjoys being with her as a person. After a year she realizes that she misses her former sex life and proposes a 'no strings' friends with benefits situation with Nate. Grab a box of Kleenex because you'll need them. You'll cry and you'll laugh, but you'll love this story.. Well written with likable characters and a captivating story. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
This is a well-written good friends to lovers story. It has drama, hot sex, humor, and adorable characters. Piper and Nate is a couple that you’ll be rooting for. You can feel their connection even before the sex. Their respect and love for each other can be felt on the pages of my Kindle. The story is adorable and steamy - what else can a reader asks for? [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
