“THE BEST MAN” part two! Now it’s up to Catwoman to rescue her one true love. It’s the Cat vs. the Clown in one exciting showdown that sets the stage for our giant anniversary issue-and the biggest union in comics!
Tom King has some really great ideas for each issue. Here The Joker and Catwoman hurt each other and they are bleeding out and talking to each other the whole issue. And of course we hear a new joke.
I seriously don't understand how some people can hate King's writing. He always manages to build depths over depths of characterization with just a bunch of dialogues. He took those characters who have existed for ages and made them everything they've ever been while still keeping them his own. He's put everything I love and cherish about Batman into one timeline, and it's just as heartbreaking and true and human as I thought it'd be. And he's even managed to summarize his own run in this one: chaos and order, working together to continually create and destroy and build back the Batman. I pity the poor fellow who will have to take the mantle once King's done with this...
I do have one critic though. How are Bat and Cat so chill about everyone knowing their getting married? They're not doing it as their scowl personas. They're doing it as Bruce and Selina, and having everyone know about that means they've invited destruction into their little corner of happiness. I mean, it's highly possible they know what they're doing and how bad it will turn out to be, because like Selina said they're both misery trying to have a second of happiness. Are they so convinced it's bound to fail that they're making sure it does? Is King just being lazy because he wants these two to interact with everyone in the DC universe too badly to pretend their identities are secret? At the moment, it bothers me a bit, but since he's turned everything that bothered me before into gold, I'll wait and see :)
Wow she looks terrifying when she laugh [image error]
The two of the most influential people to Batman's life is finally having a face off to show who is the better woman/man the cape crusader should settle with. A love story only a Batman Lego movie can pull off
[image error] The story seems a little too slow, But conversation between the two builds tension. Show how different they see Batman/Bruce and his happiness. Joker makes an statement why the weeding should be off and Selina is making a mistake on trying to make Bruce quit the Big..Black..Bat gig.
BatCat Weeding = No Batman and joker needs his batman. Batman needs to stand between Joker and everything. If not, whats the whole point of joker.
A "final" battle between Catwoman and the Joker, each trying to save Batman their own way. Again like the last issue this felt more like a Harley episode.
A really interesting issue. Definitely like where this left the Joker, however I think this is definitely foreshadowing Catwoman leaving Batman at the alter so he “won’t be happy and quit being the Batman”.
Very good, but it now seems eminent that King and DC won’t do the actual daring thing that would truly take the characters in a new direction. Predictable if disappointing.
I'm honestly so shocked, this was so f-ing beautiful! I have a very strong dislike for Catwoman and I never understood why everyone wants to romance her with The Bat, but her one-on-one with Joker, well, it actually made me question all of King's take on this so far. It's basically one impossible romance, one tragical onesided love affair, and hell, this was the best take on Joker in recent years! It made me laugh and cry at the same time and remember why I loved these idiots in the first place. God. I'm a mess.
A lot of fun minus the last page, as someone who can’t stand the joker I can’t believe how amused I was at him talking wedding deets and dress styles with Selina
The more you read this issue the more you understand the depth of Kings writing. Will Batman continue to be Batman, or will Catwoman finally make him complete.
I was really worried this was going to be a lackluster follow up to a great opener which is what I've been getting off of the last couple arcs in this book but man was I happily surprised. I love how King writes Joker and Selina like a par of old co-workers meeting up after having not seen each other in a couple years, a lot of great comedy comes from that and the furthering of Joker's view on the wedding is just fascinating.
If Selina doesn't marry Bruce because she thinks he won't be Batman anymore since he would be happier then I'm going to be very disappointed with King. It just seems like one of the weakest excuses to maintain the status quo.
Intenso. No hay mejor palabra que lo describa. Excelentes dialogos por parte de Tom King, y una forma estupenda de dibujar de Janín, quien no me sorprenda que a estas alturas siga dibujando para la serie principal de Batman.
This issue is the BEST that I have read from Tom King's run !! I enjoyed the " Talk " between an injured Joker , and an injured Catwoman !! I am still not crazy about this version of the characters overmuch , but this is a well done issue by Tom King !!
Most of the time I think I want to strangle Tom King (that’s a joke, relax) but then he’ll churn out something like this! This had some real depth-Catwoman and Joker laying on the floor of a church bleeding out telling each other stories and reminiscing about old times.... absolute genius!
