Dick Grayson has a lot of responsibility. Being the original partner to Batman, he’s the natural choice to be Bruce Wayne’s best man. So if anyone has to get to the wedding, it’s going to be him. Too bad Hush has other plans-and maybe Bruce Wayne does, too!
Tim Seeley is a comic book artist and writer known for his work on books such as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, The Dark Elf Trilogy, Batman Eternal and Grayson. He is also the co-creator of the Image Comics titles Hack/Slash[1] and Revival, as well as the Dark Horse titles, ExSanguine and Sundowners. He lives in Chicago.
I don't know what Seeley was going for here, but this issue felt really off the mark. The writing style almost entirely reminded me of Silver Age batman and not in a charming throw back way, more of a "This feels out of place" kind of way. Especially after the Robin one shot Seeley did under this banner which I praised for feeling so close to the voice of King's Batman which these are supposed to tie into. There's a handful of ok moments in here but for the most part it was just one wired thing after another, especially in that last scene where Bruce is talking to Dick like a sitcom mom and he smiles after they agree to hang out more and says "I'd like that". Sorry, I don't care how you view his relationship with any character, Batman smiling and saying "I'd like that" in response to something will always come off as creepy to me.
Also, someone must be really out of step with Kings stuff, ether Seeley or the marketing department because saying Batman and Catwoman are getting married but not Bruce and Selina when the wedding invitation/checklist add that I've seen everywhere for the last couple months specifically says it's in invitation to Bruce and Selina's wedding so I assumed it would be for both identities till this came along.
Komplett self indulgent Kurzgeschichte.
I knew that this being a prelude to the wedding (what will likely be the second biggest event for DC in the past year) meant that there probably wasn’t going to be much groundbreaking happening here. I expected it to be fun and interesting, but realistically we know they’re holding all of the big revelations for later. There is one small revelation that occurs here, which is ironic. This issue reveals who the best man will be for Batman. You’d think that would happen in the ‘Best Man’ issue of Batman, but you’d be wrong (actually, you couldn’t be more wrong, considering how that issue was focused on the Joker). This was fun and a little bit of a blast from the past, what with Hush here and all. I don’t think it really will end up having any major impact on the world, but hey, you never know.
I really hated this version of Hush. “I’m jealous of you so I stole your face!” The whole thing felt incredibly silly. Nothing really worthwhile happened. It’s all exposition about wedding details drawn out around a little Dr. Who-style fight and Tommy having a midlife crisis in the middle. None of the characters felt like themselves. It could have been any 3 generic guys going out on a Friday night doing generic things in the most generic way possible. Ironic that the villains’ whole gimmick was lacking personality. Just awful.

So bachelor party, right? Superhero burgers? Its really funny. And then going fishing like 3 blocks who are just friends since forever. Also Dick vs jealous Tommy. Who wasn't never really Bruce's friends. And the promise Dick will be around more! Really like this prelude wedding arc. To be continued!
This was an amazingly fun read. It was also great to see Batman accepting and relishing in the fact that he has good friends. Hush had a great story and it will lead to a great conclusion when the wedding kicks off.
Takes a bit to figure out where this is going, but quite strong when it does. Still, I admit, the next issue is the one I’m really waiting for—though I thought there might be a different villain in the mix.
