By day, Pamela teaches Middle School English. By night, she travels to other worlds and times, placing herself in the persona of her characters, all while sitting in her favorite chair! She has enjoyed writing for various reasons ever since childhood, when she realized writing and making up stories would provide entertainment for long trips and keep her company. Her tendency toward fantastic stories was reflected in tales of discovering modern day dinosaurs and talking horses that would give her advice. The writing of poetry provided an outlet for private thoughts and emotions for years until she decided to self-publish fiction in 2016.

Pamela's genres include science fiction, paranormal fiction, and poetry of all types. The Made for Me series is Pamela's first published fiction series. She released her first full-length novel, Detours in Time, in the summer of 2017 and the sequel in 2018. Pamela currently juggles her day job with writing further novels in the Detours in Time world while cooking up more ideas for the character of Norrie from her Made for Me series.

It was time travel that brought Milt and Tabitha together. Now back in the present, their lives have been joined, and a new baby has cemented them as a family. But as the excitement of their adventures are a thing of the past, for now, Tabitha is feeling the overwhelming emotions of childbirth, caring for a newborn infant and the fear of losing that edge she felt she once had as a strong and independent woman. After all, their future didn’t show what their present now holds.

As Milt strives to prevent a disaster that hasn’t even happened yet, he is preparing to “battle” a foe he hasn’t even met. Meanwhile, Tabitha yearns for an escape while convincing herself she can travel to the future alone, and be back before Milt even realizes she is gone. She sees her solo trip as a mission, an adventure, something to reaffirm who she is, but what she finds is a world she is unprepared to live in. Not only will Tabitha finds herself in grave danger, someone will know more about her than should be possible and that someone could be the nemesis Milt must defeat. Only by her wits, important people she meets and sheer luck can she even hope to get back to her present and the family she left behind.

Pamela Schloesser-Canepa’s UNDERCURRENTS IN TIME is much more than the time travel adventure Tabitha was looking for! One woman, unsure of her capabilities as a mother, risks everything only to learn there is no place like home and she will do everything she must to protect those she loves, even knowing that what she does in the present could change the future.

UNDERCURRENTS IN TIME touches on some hot topics, such as postpartum depression, the perceived loss of identity and sadly, the devaluation of motherhood in the eyes of a young woman who thought she had her future path all mapped out. Once Tabitha’s adventure begins, she will find a world so different from what she expected, she must rely on her own instincts and some quirky characters who may know more than they will admit to get back home.

After an emotion-filled tight rope of a beginning, this tale settles in and an easy-to-follow adventure begins! A little danger, a lot of luck and some amazing characters really make this tale tick! This isn't a rapid-fire tale, but it IS very human as we travel to a future I certainly never imagined!

Tabitha is a new mother and is struggling to adjust to her new life. The urge to time travel is calling her, like the sirens to sailors of long ago. Instead of telling her partner, Milt, she goes off on her own. The future is an escape for her and she relishes it. Her search for adventure soon takes a deadly turn when she encounters Milt’s enemy. Will she avert disaster and make it home safe or will she have to sacrifice herself for the future?

This is my first Detour in Time book and I must say, this is a thrilling science fiction adventure! While it is mostly from Tabitha’s point of view, I liked escaping the present with her. She’s a wonderfully complicated character, so different from myself. Her reasoning and the resulting consequences make this a page turner.

I’ve always been fascinated by time travel and in Undercurrents in Time, I got to experience it first-hand. Every decision, thought and action threads the past, present and future in a woven tapestry. This theory is explored in this book. The author does a superb job using characters and plot progression to drive her point home. Brilliant!

If you’re looking for an action-packed science fiction thriller, pick up a copy today and explore the perils of time travel!

Favorite Character/Quote: Tabitha. I found her a fascinating character with differing motivators than my own. She’s accurately portrayed (new mum) and her emotions are compelling. As a woman, I kept rooting for her to explore the wild unknown.

Tabitha's story is very intriguing.
She is coming to terms with her new born baby.
At that time she and her her husband Milt time travel to the future.
Interesting story about the repercussions of the small decisions which have effects in the future. The story mixes elements of time travel, science fiction and adventure very well.

A good read that incorporated quite a lot in one book. It starts with Tabitha having just had a baby and struggling to come to terms with this and perhaps suffering from post-natal depression. The visit to the future was as enthralling as that of the first book and there were some interesting dimensions added that followed Tabitha when she returned to her own time and place. The mystery continued with Milt and Tabitha coming to terms with each other and their new baby while trying to prevent a deadly weapon from being developed that could be used in the future.
The book concludes well but the author has left it open for a third, should she wish to continue the series.
I liked both books equally and would recommend them if you like time travel, futuristic adventures.

The Undercurrents of Time by Pamela Schloesser Canepa, book 2 in the Detours in Time series, is a great science-fiction novel.

Although the book includes time travel it’s also heavily about a recently married couple, Tabitha and Milt. Despite the adventures the science professor and his lab assistant have had the novelty seems to be wearing off for Tabitha in particular. Tabitha prepares to time travel on her own this time, whilst also struggling with postpartum depression and what kind of mother she will be in general.

A slow, but character driven start changes into a faster-paced thriller as we follow Tabitha’s adventures in the future where she encounters a cluster of interesting characters and even the enemy Milt had been preparing for himself.

Overall, Undercurrents of Time was a good mix of sci-fi, thriller and character focus, and it looks like there may be a sequel too.

A good continuation to this time travel novel

Wow, you certainly touched on a few social issues in book 2. At times they moved the main plot forward.Othertimes you seem to get stuck in the framework of the Subplots. As a Midwife of some 35 yrs experience ,you seemed to grasp the PND ideals, though only did it scratch the surface of such an enormous issue. There were only two grammar issues, both related to repeating a sentence out of sequence, an easy fix. You have thought through time travel consequences well. I would like to see more if you write another book in this series. Another enjoyable read.Again thank you for sharing your tale.

In Book 2 of the Detours in Time series, Author Pamela Schloesser Canepa creates a fascinating world of time experiences. Her primary characters, Tabitha and Milt, are both well-developed and strong. In this world, time-bending reflects on the past, future, and impact of choices.

Milt, her husband, is supportive but has his own life goals that he must pursue. There is a strong focus on Tabitha, and most of the story is from her point of view. Motherhood of a new infant with a touch of postpartum anxiety sets her mind reeling. The emotional upheaval Tabitha experiences opens a path to reflect on her life. It is a perfect setting for exploring her choices.

Pamela delves into the emotions of each character while laying the foundation for adventures and the quest for truth. The thrills and excitement keep you engaged and invested in hoping for Milt and Tabitha’s success. I related to the practical side of Milt and wanted a bit more of his perspective.

Tabitha’s inquisitive nature comes to the forefront during her travels. There is a revealing exchange when she finds herself jailed. The conversation starts with Tabitha asking why and results in hearing her cellmate’s story of her sons.

“Soon, I’m back in the 1960s. I started feeling like I belonged there. I remember John F. Kennedy, the Bay of Pigs, Woodstock. So, one day in 1969, I eat another potato. Well, here I am, back again, but I came back too late. My man was already gone with the babies. I don’t know where. I left this cell, and I returned to it. I have no control over where this takes me…I don’t dare eat a potato again. And now, you see, I have nothin’.” She spat the word out. “Don’t eat anything brown.”
The woman turned her back. “Ma’am, why are baby boys rare?” She clung to the hope that some truth lingered in what this woman said, that she knew things. For sure, if she was a time traveler, she had seen things that many people here had not.
“We don’t know. They say it’s ‘cuz everyone’s having babies late in life. They say it’s something in the water. I think potatoes are evil. ..."

Undercurrents in Time, stretches your imagination of time travel and the cost or benefit of the action. Author Canepa will have you questioning not only characters choices but perhaps your own. I do recommend this science-fiction thriller for those who enjoy time travel and the possibilities. I have tagged Book 1 of the series to read, which puts me a bit out of order. I will likely reread Undercurrents. Try it.

Although it's been a while since reading the first book of this series, once I embarked on this second book, I was reminded of how much I like both main characters, Tabitha and Milt. Set a little later than the first story, incorporated into the partially-futuristic storyline are real life issues such as a new mother dealing with the challenges and rewards of having a new born baby. This provided a current time realism to the story. What I do love about both books in this series, however, is the author's commitment to keeping the glimpses of the future in line with things happening now, which we are all aware of as far as how they could impact future generations. I find this writer's ability to keep characters real in terms of their humanity, something that makes her work so easy to read. As humans we all have struggles and moments of doubt, and sometimes we do wish we could step out of our own lives for just a short time, to take a break from the things we do day to day. This sentiment in particular is beautifully expressed in this story.

As always, the words are formulated well and overall, this is a great follow on from Detours in Time.

This book is a mixture of time-travel adventure and domestic 'drama' as the heroine, Tabitha, goes through post natal depression. While overall readable, I found the parts about her coming to terms with motherhood and her arguments with her husband to be rather boring. It is only about 15% into the book when she at last heads off into the future to 2047 for a more interesting imaginative adventure. Then about the last 20% of the book she comes back into the present (or 1999-2000 era when the 'present-day' part of the book is set) and there is more tedious domestic stuff mixed in with rather undevelopped action where Milt, her husband attempts to thwart the plans of the villain in the story - a certain George Mahoney.
All the characters except Tabitha and Milt are undevelopped, and the plot is simplistic and fuzzy. I enjoyed parts of the book - the imaginative vision of the future, and the suspense about how she is going to return to the present; other parts about her family issues I found to be rather dreary.

Undercurrents in Time is an intriguing mixture of family drama, science-fiction, and suspense, from which I enjoyed the middle bit the most.

In all honesty, the first five chapters were a bit hard for me to read, as the author touches rather unpleasant topics of what seems like post-natal depression and its devastating consequences on the relationship between husband and wife. Tabitha and Milt’s interactions were filled with tension and it sometimes made me dislike one or the other.

However, as soon as Tabitha takes her naughty escape into the future, things become really interesting and imaginative. I enjoyed a lot the creative vision the author presented when it comes to fashion, technology, and body modification in 2047 (Permanent angel wings and lavender skin? Hell, yeah!) We also get some suspense as Tabitha meets in the future her husband’s enemy and fights to secure her way back home.

Overall, it’s an incredibly imaginative futuristic read and it often made me ponder, “What would I do if I were in Tabitha’s shoes?”

Fast, absorbing read! Could hardly wait to find out what happened next. Found myself holding my breath as Tabitha faced one danger after another. A future that I could never imagine, but that the author described beautifully. Highly recommend this and the the first in the series!

Could have been a good one.

Pamela Schloesser Canepa imagination is great and her story is also awesome but the way she have written it is like readers are fools, like we are kids needing everything explained by using childish language and the way the married couple behaved is even worst, no couples behave like that and no husband would knowingly let his wife lie to him without raising his voice after his wife betrayal and lying about it by stilling his car/time Machine and when finally getting her to talk she so obviously telling only half of the story.
Daniela Acitelli narration was ok.

I choose this book with high expectations, obviously I was wrong and disappointed !!!

Sorry but I can’t
recommend this one to
readers who know me !
