In the wake of the devastating event that broke the space-time continuum, John Revele must begin to find his way through this new realm he finds himself in. With only the instructions of the mysterious Stranger, he will need to track down Jason Richter, the physicist who started all of this, in order to put time back on track. Meanwhile, the normal realms of time and existence go on. The other versions of John and everyone else push forward--towards the series of events that sparked the anomaly in the first place. Four years have past and John's new name; The Baptist, has become legend on the streets of Baltimore. Criminals have grown to fear the name as he and his group of friends have earned a reputation for dealing with society's worst. John's estranged wife; Clare, after putting her career case to bed, finds herself faced with a new terrorist group that could be worse than the last. As John tries to decide how far he is willing to take this mission of his, the version of himself that is trapped underneath time must convince Jason Richter to help him fix the space-time continuum. The result spawns a whole new reality--a version of events that is different than anyone has seen before! All the while, the ever scheming; Ranston sets up for the climax of his plan and the realization of his dark second chance...
My name is Ryan and I am a lifelong writer but five time novelist. I am a husband and father of five, living in Ontario, Canada.
I ventured into the publishing world in 2013, but I have always been a story teller at heart. At a young age I discovered my love of the movies and just had this urge to write stories and even produce my own movies with all my little buddies. It was just me and my imagination and a video camera back then.
All of my schooling background reflects creative arts in some way or another. I was accepted into the Visual Arts program in high school, which included sketching, painting and sculpting to name a few mediums. While going to school there, I became involved with the Audio/Visual team, which opened up a whole new medium of storytelling to me. It was the end of the nineties and going into the two-thousands which were spawning whole new technological advancements in amateur video production. Because of the opportunities that opened up in video production I fell more in love with the type of medium and really started to focus my efforts in this field. It was fun! It was exciting! When I sat at the computer to either write my amateur scripts or edit a scene we had just filmed, it was sheer freedom! I could create whatever I wanted, despite what I was used to and what every English or Art teacher told me I couldn’t. English class for me, ironically enough (as an aspiring author), was one of those things that I wanted to like but just couldn’t. In theory, English was everything I wanted but I just found myself being bored. There were too many rules. Too many do’s and don’ts. In terms of storytelling, I always considered myself to be a little more unorthodox than the norm. If an artist can’t break the rules, just a little bit, then what’s the point of art?
The Baptist - Part 2: A New Testament, by: Ryan David Gerard. This is the second book in the story of The Baptist, and the author doesn’t let the readers down. This book continues to be full of action, with some jaw-dropping moments. The main character, John Revele, continues his vigilante push on the streets, and has become known and feared by criminals. The character development continues to be remarkable in this instalment of the Baptist, as you continue to grow closer to John, Clare, Ridley and several other characters. The representation of god and the devil gets amped up as well. They battle each other, like two master chess players would, as they walk among the characters of the book with their master plans in mind. “The Stranger” brings John and his crew closer, while Ranston continues to manipulate Jason Richter and his time-machine. John is left to find Jason Richter once a disastrous occurrence rocks the space-time continuum, and forces John to push through and try to restore the world, and his life to a better time. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it to all readers. I can’t even pick a favourite plot or character. Whether it is John’s struggle to fight crime, and the fallout in his personal life from his vigilante ways. Richter’s pursuit to change the world through time travel, or ‘The Stranger’ and Ranston using the characters as pawns in their chess game being played on the world stage; I just couldn’t put this book down.
I can’t not wait to see how this trilogy plays out, and what is next for this up coming Canadian author. His talent in story telling and his style of writing will have me reading anything/everything he publishes.
