Hector thought he’d escaped his past and had nothing to fear by posing for a charity calendar, but he was wrong.
Hector Torres is a self-made man. He came from the wrong side of the tracks and had a difficult childhood. Violence and crime flourished around him, but one particular event sent him running, and he’s been looking back over his shoulder for over a decade.
He thought he’d changed enough to take a chance and do something good, especially in light of his closest friend’s daughter being diagnosed with cancer.
But Hector is wrong, and the man suddenly appears in his life might be his saviour—or his executor.
I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.
And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there's something specific you'd like to know, and spare you from reading a boring bio:D
I had a bit of a rollercoaster experience. Watching this story in a fast pace, before I could let it sink in there was already something else to watch. There were passages being kind and friendly... also hot and steamy... and even a bit stress.
Hector at the moment Mr. August calendar man, vanished more than a decade ago, because of his dads dirty business. Mat had always eyes for Hector and now he found him again. What I always love is some shifters. Mat was a shifter, to protect Hector, only there is not much shifting in this story. Hector want to find out who his enemy is and with the help from Mat he has to face his past.
The story has a lot of everything and all not thoroughly worked out. If you are not picky about developing and you love some fast and hot pages this is for you.
Blurb: Book eight in the Calendar Men series Hector thought he’d escaped his past and had nothing to fear by posing for a charity calendar, but he was wrong. Hector Torres is a self-made man. He came from the wrong side of the tracks and had a difficult childhood. Violence and crime flourished around him, but one particular event sent him running, and he’s been looking back over his shoulder for a long time. He thought he’d changed enough to take a chance and do something good, especially in light of his closest friend’s daughter being diagnosed with cancer. But Hector is wrong, and the man who suddenly appears in his life might be his savior—or his executioner.
I have been an avid follower of this whole series, and this book is just as enjoyable as the others. It’s a quick read, has lovely varied characters, and despite being part of a strong series, each pairing in each book is unique. They have very different situations and different love stories, but each one is lovely in it’s own way. They do stand alone though, and as well as the common threat of the calendar, each book has it’s own shifters in!
Hector poses for the calendar and finds his old life catching up with him in the most alarming way. Mat is from Hector’s old life, and is settling a debt by getting involved with Hector’s life again. Mat is a Jaguar and it was great that he shows himself to Hector in his cat-skin.
Mat and Hector have combustible energy between them, but Hector struggles to get over the fact that Mat knows old hector too. Can Hector ever learn to trust?
This is a smashing addition to the series. Recommended!
I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Mr. August is another solid entry to Bailey Bradford's Calendar Men series! Each book is a standalone as they each feature a different guy for the month. There is an overall theme of all the guys being in the calendar, but you do not need to read all of them to enjoy Mr. August! Hector posed for a good cause, only that good cause could cost him his life.
Hector has been running from his past. He thought he was far removed from it years later only to find he was very wrong! He came from humble beginnings and didn't want to follow in his dad's footsteps. He worked hard to get to where he is today. All that could be for naught the day Mat shows up.
Mat knew Hector when he was a kid. He had a debt to pay and helps Hector out in order to pay it. He was ill prepared for the rush of feelings that seeing Hector provoked! He knows he has to spend more time with Hector. But will Hector want to given their history??
This whole series has been interesting and intriguing stories centered around the men posing for the charity calendar. Oh and did I mention that there are shifters involved?? I like that aspect of the books too! Mat is a jaguar and I rather loved seeing him in cat form! Hector and Mat are pretty combustible so I got their chemistry! They worked well together!
