I didn’t think I’d like this that much because I’m not keen on the concept of combining Goblin with Carnage (I’m not keen on symbiotes in general to be honest) but it turned out to be an emotional and heartwarming issue (the second half of the issue is much better than the first). The story wasn’t too bad either! The supporting cast is quite big here; Venom, Anti-Venom and a few others make appearances, but it all comes back to Peter and Osborn for the finale, and I do love a good Peter vs Osborn finale. It’s also the penultimate issue of Dan Slotts run, so plot threads wrap up and it begin to wind down. He’s been on the book for a long time and there’s been a lot of ups and downs in his run, so I wouldn’t say I’m sad to see him go, but I’m glad that he seems to be going out on a high point.

Was für eine Häufung von Jubiläumsnummern in 2018!
Mit ASM 800 hat Marvel immerhin keine rührselige Tribut-Nummer rausgebracht (wie die Konkurrenz), sondern ein 80 Seiten starkes Finale, in dem es zwischen Spidey und dem Green, sorry, Red Goblin zum Showdown kommt.
Starke Story mit ordentlicher Artwork und sehr guter Kolorierung; macht Lust auf ASM 801 :)

This is an epic 92 pages of non stop action.
In the previous issues Spiderman as usual is beaten to a pulp by the Red Goblin (Norman Osburn) who is a combination of Green Goblin and Carnage and has zero weaknesses.

Thankfully, Flash Thompson - the anti venom comes to the rescue.

This comic has 4 parts drawn by four different artists. Each chapter is edge of the seat entertainer. We get lots of guest appearances including Venom wherein Spider-Man and Venom combine together to take on the Red Goblin.

Such a Good thrill ride. For Some reason this gave me vibes from the very first spider-man movie. Wich I probably have seen like 30 times when I was a kid.

This issue is getting rave reviews so I think I'm in the minority when I say this fell short from the excellent I was expecting.

The story has the epicness, the "big fight" feel but I felt like it fell flat. Maybe because it's the usual Spider-Man having the moral high ground. Maybe because how Spidey's loved ones were saved which I feel is rushed.

It's not all that bad though. I love J. Jonah Jameson's involvement in this issue. I know, I'm scarce on the details in case you haven't read yet.

Another thing, I enjoyed the whole Slott run. It is one of the first Earth-616 run I ever read. Superior Spider-Man deserves all the praise. I think the change in creative team is necessary at this point. We need a fresh take on Peter Parker's story. Slott's successor, Nick Spencer, is a favorite of mine as well so I'm excited for the series. I'm still following Slott with his Iron Man run so it's not a complete goodbye.

I may have to re-read this someday though. I tend to be more foregiving when I revisit something.

This is the conclusion of the final arc (go down swinging) and also the final arc by Slott.

I didn't like the enemy in this arc, Norman Osborn as the Red Goblin and his grandson Normie also infected with the Carnage symbiote, that was pretty weak tho', but the last chapter is the one that is really worth the $9.99, this last chapter really got me in my feelings, with Flass Thompson's death and the final battle between Spidey and Green Goblin, also we get to see Doc Ock again and that's sooooo dope!

Not too long ago I read "Action Comics" #1,000 and found it mediocre at best. This, the 800th issue of "The Amazing Spider-Man" was one of the best superhero comic book I've read in a long time. Writer Don Slott with a group of five artists tells a riveting action packed story that is exciting while still focusing on several great character moments. All the supporting cast are given their moment to shine.

Unlike "Action" #1,000, AS-M #800 is the perfect way to celebrate a milestone issue of a classic character.

Slott cierra todas las tramas que lleva años construyendo en el universo de nuestro amigable vecino gastando todos los cartuchos que le quedan. Derrière la superbe couverture d’Alex Ross, une histoire complète, bien classique, autour du pouvoir de la famille, de l’amitié, nanana. Tout ça pourrait être très simpliste et un peu neuneu mais ça marche du feu de dieu, notamment avec la famille Osborn (Harry et son fils), et on suit un grand huit émotionnel. Le dessin est variable d’un chapitre à l’autre, mais pffre des cadrages comics parfaits. Un gros kiff simple mais efficace!

I usually don't write reviews for single issue comic books. But the 800th issue of Amazing is a noteworthy exception. I first started really getting into Spidey books several issues before ASM 400 came out in the mid-90s. Sooo long ago now. I was very young man. A kid, really. I haven't kept up with all the issues since. But Spider-Man has always been one of my favorites. And Slott's run and 800th issue were just... amazing. I'm gonna go back read his entire run.

Dan Slott has been hit or miss for me over the past decade with a few big hits and a couple crucial misses. This anniversary issue #800 was a huge hit. He nailed it. Characterization was dead on, Spidey’s voice was true and he was the hero we know and love through and through. I loved this issue and thought it was a great close to a surprisingly good arc.

A victory lap for Slott and the artists that made his run possible. A little sore that this isn't actually the last ish of this volume. It turns out there's an 801st issue?

Best ad: Wakanda Forever by Nnedi Okorafor and Alberto Alburquerque! I feel like Marvel was giving Black Panther a real push back in 2018. Just in time for the movie!

4.5 stars. Wow!! Great finish to the Go Down Swinging arc. This comic read like an epic movie!! So many thrills here. The whole time I was like, man, how is Spidey gonna get out this. Makes me want to go back and read Slotts entire run.
