Welcome to the carnival of the damned. I’m one of the seven deadly sins, they call me Lust, but you can just call me Pandora. This is a story of darkness. Redemption. Hope. And betrayal I never saw coming.
A reaper’s found me—deadly to my kind—and though I know I shouldn’t be I’m as drawn to him as a moth is to flame. But I don’t have time to indulge in my fantasies of stripping him down naked and having my dirty, dirty way with him. Because there’s a prophecy going round. Real end of the world type stuff. And somehow this little demon is at the heart of it all. I’m thousands of years old, but I’m starting to feel like my numbers finally come due...
Book 1: Crimson Night
My name is Pandora, and I'm a Nephilim-half demon-what's my other name? Lust. I'm the dark craving that drives you mad, makes you reckless and stupid. But I'm not all bad. I fight for light. People are starting to disappear and lately I've felt a dark presence lurking around me. I think it might be a death priest. And before the night is through I'll be betrayed by the one person I thought I could trust.
Book 2: All Hallows Night
Secrets and truths, lies and red herrings… which is which? That’s what Pandora’s trying to figure out. And there's no better time to do it than during Mexico's annual Dia de Los Muertos festival. There's just one problem... Zombies.
Book 3: Howler’s Night
Lies. Half-truths. A zombie Queen. And a really freaking dark entity known only as the Triad. The more Pandora learns the worse things seem to get.
"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him..."
Book 4: Red Rain
Welp... this is it. The end of the world. Somehow, I don't think I made anything better, only worse. But now I've got allies, people I call friends and maybe, just maybe I might come out of this nightmare alive... or maybe I'll turn into something darker than anything the world could ever imagine. Guess, you'll just have to wait and see.
The Night Series was originally written as Marie Hall, now writing as Selene Charles.
Selene Charles is the pen name of a NY Times and USA Today bestselling author.
She is an avid penguin sweater knitter. She believes that unicorns really do exist and that skittles aren't really candy at all. She enjoys skydiving in the arctic, chatting with her polar bear friends around a warm campfire while sipping on warm cocoa, and she used to work in a travelling carnival which is where she got all these crazy ideas from. Only two of these statements are actually true.

Book 4, Red Rain THE EXCITING CONCLUSION!

I have been glued to my kindle for three days reading this series. Staying up way too late because I just had to know what happened next. The first books ending seemed too contrived, but it was still a great story and after that it just kept getting better. At one point it ripped my heart out and made me cry, so have those tissues ready. This was such an imaginative story. The world and character building was top notch. I grew to love so many great characters in this world. I guess my main beef with this world is one that sends every Nephilim to that hot place down there. It makes no sense as they have no free will to choose light or dark. No matter how good of a life they live, they will spend eternity there. Too many good ones died in this story and I hate knowing that in the story they are in screaming pain for eternity despite their goodness. I almost took off a star for that sadness! This was a story of great love and sacrifice. It was also full of spunk, attitude and action. You won't want to miss it!
I already had those in separate books but I am a sucker for box sets and for this price I just couldn't say No!
This story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that just doesn't let you take a breath, calm down. I adore Pandora, she is just so awesome, with all her struggles and heartbreaks, her bad-assery and cuteness. She fights for what she knows it's right, no matter the consequences, no matter the pain it'll put herself through.
Her carnival of demons fascinated me, I love them all but most of all Sloth, I would love to cuddle with him, no matter the danger of never getting up again. Asher took my breath away, I fell for him as she did and rooted for them from the start, against all odds.
And then there's Dean. Oh boy! No, no boy, he's a man through and through. Playing games, being cruel, with his darn irresistible grin... I'd be a puddle at his feet, he made me swoon even though he is clearly not a hero, not good at all.
The plot just gripped me and didn't let me go, threw me in deapest despair (especially the last book made me bawl my eyes and heart out) and then kicked me up in delirious heights, it was just that good. Read for yourself, you'll see what I mean!
Said she hadn't had sex in over 2 days then a few pages later says she just had sex the day before but this particular guy roused her Lust demon.
Changed spelling of Vyxyn to Vyxen
Changed name of her transportation thing from porting to tracing
Said she never wears, or even owns, bras and suddenly she is wearing them
Admitted the stuff about Pestilence being inside her in front of her enemy then wondered how her enemy knew
Her pestilence demon worked on the zombies and then suddenly it didn't anymore
Said a baby died in 1863 then dude is like I remember your years in Mexico that would have been around 1863
Switching from Dora liking cream and sugar coffee to plain black coffee
Said Luc housed a second unknown demon but when it came time to make sure he had all 7, suddenly he only had Lust.
It took me a long time to get through this collection and I can put down 3 books a day no problem when I want to. A tedious read. It started to get better, as far as writing, near the end.. but still typos and tons of continuity errors.
There is so much to say about the series because of how long it is. There are 4 books together and with each story there were different things to them.
I liked Pandora she was exceptionally confident however as her story continued we saw her class start to appear. We saw her complicated relationship with Luc. She felt love for him even though he decimated her heart. The relationship was very complicated for me to understand however I felt the emotions between them so really I didn't feel the need to delve in to deep. Then Ash appeared but I'm the beginning his name was Billy. He really is the catalyst for her life turning around. Her fears of emotions and humanity really come to a head by him. I liked the supernatural content of the series. They didn't seem to take a back seat to the drama of the characters.
Overall this is a good series to start in before reading the night universe books in other series.
These books.... They do start a bit slow. Not painfully so, but enough that I was glad I only paid a dollar for them. But, finishing the fourth installment, I can say that I loved this series. The world built here was beautiful and believable. The slow build of characters was beyond enjoyable (if not a tad predictable at times). I'm not one for recapping an entire story in a review, so I wont. The story itself I'd give a solid 4.0. There was a ton of back and forth and a lot could have been avoided had one of more of the person's involved just acted like a commonsense adult instead of a stubborn child (come on... you've lived through how many centuries and still act like this?)... But the overall metamorphosis the characters went through leading to the final battle was/is worthy of a 5star rating.
"I was like a dead man being reborn. This woman, this demon, who'd been crafted just for me, was knitting me back together again, making me whole. The depths of my need for her was almost frightening."
What an experience this box set was!! A whole world created with vividly told adventures, complexly layered characters, twists and turns, and never a second that I wasn't addicted and inhaling the words as fast as I could recommend them!! All the feels, all the jaw drops, all the hotness!! I can't wait to dive in to the rest of this Author's books!
I purchased this series because I've enjoyed many of this author's books. I could tell from the description that it would be darker than the books I usually read, but decided to give it a try anyway. It is a bit dark at first, but gets very dark as the series continues. But I still enjoyed it, even though some of it was difficult to read.
The main character is a nephilim -- half-human, half demon, and her demon is one of the seven deadly sins. I enjoyed the series immensely, because Pandora is such a likable character and the plot line is fascinating.
The series is written mostly from Pandora's perspective, but also sometimes from the perspective of other important characters. Because of this, the reader gets to see the characters' thoughts on everything/everyone they encounter. Pandora is a fascinating and complex character -- sometimes hilarious, sometimes very dark, sometimes very violent, and sometimes very caring and good. My favorite part about her is that she is capable of love and goodness, because her human side truly tries to control her demon.
The other characters are also interesting and well-developed -- some are likable, and others you love to hate -- but all of them are complex. The story does include a romance, but the romance is not the main plot.
The first book in the series was my favorite, because it wasn't quite as dark as the others. Pandora was often quite funny in it. The rest of the books got progressively darker as the series continued, since Pandora was facing a serious threat to everyone/everything she loved.
The books are fast-paced and packed with emotional scenes. Some are quite violent, some are very painful/sad, a few are funny, and some are confusing. It held my interest right up until the end, and kept me guessing at what would happen next. The ending was painful and powerful, then finally uplifting -- and also set the reader up for a spinoff series. I won't be reading that one, even though I like this author, simply because I've had enough dark stories for now.
If you choose to read this series, you do need to start with the 1st book and read them in order. The author has created a very complex world, so each book contains a lot of world-building and character development. I think I would have been really confused if I had tried to read the books out of order.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I didn't realize it was a paranormal romance novel. I got caught up in the MC trying to survive her mission and the intrigue surrounding her. That she was a lust demon, made her obsession with sex and sexual attraction work to further the story.
The intrigue and the questions about powers at war made the book hard to put down. The sex scenes were better written than I expected from a romance, I had no prior experience with them. The first half of the set was OK but as it became more of "that's my woman and he's my man", I found it too hard to read.
As her lust demon got weaker so did the character. Her obsession with sex gets tied to her "love" for two characters. Between the shallowness of the MC and her emotions together with her schoolgirl internal dialogue that would be more at home in a teenage movie (does he like/love me?), I lost interest in the book.
Not bad if you're into the genre, I think but it's not my kind of story.
I loved this story from beginning to end. The characters are all fascinating and unique. The story is so perfectly balanced with action, hate, love, drama, I mean really everything you want in a great story, it has it. The twists and turns are so fun to follow. Just when you think you understand what is happening or what a character is all about she turns everything on its head. I really loved these books and can't wait to get started on the next series in the same universe. ( That is also great because I'm always one to wonder ,when a series is over, where the characters ended up and how they are doing.) Highly recommended! 😊 Happy Reading 📚💜
This book was received for free but below is my honest opinion.
This blew my mind. I was hooked from the first book to the end. It was intense, sexy and kept me addicted to finding out what happens next.
The main characters were really interesting and they develop the more we read, the sub-characters had small developments here and there but they were crucial to the storyline. The plot twists were surprising and they really kept me on the edge of my seat.
This book deserves more than 5 stars and is one of the best series I have ever read.
The fights were very well-described, the sex was mindblowing, the emotional scenes made me go through boxes of tissue, the relationships were so deep, it was a really enjoyable and intense ride and I would recommend it highly!
For anyone to stay committed to get to the end of this book takes grit! The four books should be just that, and presented separately with an ending of each, leaving the choice of whether or not to go on up to the reader. The ending premise was thrown in at the end of the last chapter I believe as a hail Mary by the author whose book had gotten too complex. Given that knowledge, I would never have started. The characters were added with any reasons being realized in the very last chapters. I would caution the prospective reader to buckle up for a long frustrating ride and a thrown together happy ending after everyone was killed off.
I loved these books, they brought our every emotions possible. I love Pandora and hated her at times, but she was an amazing character always drawing on the inner strength she was never sure she had. Luc, my heart ached for him, he loved her so but lost his chance with her and to see him suffer so broke my heart and every turn I was hoping they would come back to each other. And her Priest, always wanting to be her white knight in the darkness. So many plots and betrayal and alliance, a very well written story line.
I really loved this series a great paranormal story I would love to know what all the characters ended up especially Luc. Asher and Pandora were such a good opposites attract couple. I cried at the end when Pandora made her ultimate sacrifice for the people she loved. I will be definitely be reading the next series.
Here we follow the story of Pandora a lust demon who tried to fight her own nature. When she meets and is almost instantly infatuated with a dangerous hunter through these four books we see how she grows and faces different challenges. I liked these books they were a little slow at the beginning but it was a great little series
Best bleepin read I've had in such a long time! Enough love, blood, gore, suspense, intrigue, mythology, real hystory and everything between to satisfy even the most snobbish reader, unless you don't like "adult" themes, then you're just lame.
What a great series, I absolutely loved Pandora, Ash and Luc, well I also loved all of their family. I cried, laughed, and cried some more. This was beautifully written and I'm sad that it's over, I definitely want to read all the adventures they are going to have with Dean, I hope that happens! Can't wait to read the Tempted series next!
This review is for the Night Universe series in its entirety. This collection is well written, and gives us a glimpse into the world of demons, unlike what you would expect. It was an enjoyable and wild ride!
I can honestly say I . Loved this series. This is actually my second time reading them. There are inconsistencies but I don't care. The story is so dam enthralling that It doesn't really matter.
These books have it all! Good, bad, evil, destruction, redemption, and love. Great read, did not want to put it down. One bad thing though, I got to the end too soon!
Found that I have no interest in wasting any more of my life trying to finish this. The protagonist is psychotic, the world-building weak, there are too many characters, and I just don't care. Glad it was free.
Absolutely fantastic couldn't put it down all the twists and turns will keep you glued the characters will literally enthrall you best read in a long time
Wow, this blew me away. The world created was fantastic, the story line had everything and the character were amazing. If PNR is your thing you need to add this to your reading list.
