A New Dawn #6

Broken Bones

Rate this book
Irth is a vast place

Concerned by the Skrima attacks, Julianne, Marcus, and Garrett have set off to visit the outlying settlements this side of the Madlands and make sure their people are safe.

It’s not just the Skrima and the remnant they’re fighting - the people they find out there have lost all hope and see no way out.

Julianne needs to teach them to fight. More than that, she needs to remind them why it’s worth it.

Set on the foundation laid by the Kurtherian Gambit Series, Broken Skies tells a new story in the Age of Magic.

NOTE: This book contains cursing. Perhaps humorous cursing, but cursing nevertheless. If this offends you, I don't suggest reading this book.

Wow!

I'd forgotten just how well written the battle scenes in this series are - and there were sufficient battles in this book, to really show me just how well written they really are!

When you consider just how squeamish I actually am, those who know me well wouldn't believe for a minute that I'm enjoying reading battle scenes, of all things - but these are truly so well written, that I'm able to skim over the blood and guts, to enjoy a great turn of phrase, as one of the characters makes an awesome move, that's described well enough, that I feel like I'm there, as an observer.

With those kind of excellent descriptive phrases, I thoroughly enjoyed this last book of the series, although I did feel that it ended in a way that meant another book was a possibility - I looked, but couldn't find one, sadly.

Julianne is yet another great female character in the Kurtherian Universe, although her male side-kicks have nothing to worry about in the hero-ing stakes, and I've really enjoyed getting to know this woman who, in her usual day job, has to show such restraint.

I guess that's why the mystics end up having to go on sabbatical every now and then: to escape living in each others' heads for a while!

So, now that this series is over, I looked at my reading list, to find that my next book, is the first of a new series: Hidden Magic - with book one being called: Shades of Light.

I'm going to go straight on to reading this, as the series' title alone has intrigued me!

Broken Bones

May have taken a bit longer to release this book but it’s well worth the wait. Amy has great characters that one can relate to. Following them through a range of emotions and loving when they kick butt. Of course without a good storyline they wouldn’t be larger than life. Amy writes an excellent adventure for them to lead the reader with them on their journey to make a better Irth.

Skrima, Remnants and Mystics oh my!

Did NOT see this coming. There’s still a lot hanging in the balance for this world before it can be made tight. Will the team be enough?

Lots of good action in this book but it isn’t one to start with. New readers should definitely start with book 1 or be hopelessly lost...

WHAT. HAPPENS. NEXT?!?!?!?!?

This was crazy exciting, and now she's left us with a cliffhanger, and you have to read Michael's notes to understand my crazy combination of excited frustration! Or is it frustrated excitement? 🤔

Another good story

Plenty of action in this one. Jules and company are touring the country looking for people to save and fighting off remnant and Skrim at every turn. Hopefully it won't be too long between in as this time.
