Everybody Feels Scared!

Rate this book
Learn how to cope with being scared from reading Aarav's story. Each book focuses on a different emotion, looking at why children may feel a certain way and how they can deal with their feelings. Every title features two stories, each told from a child's point of view, which involve common scenarios or situations. For example, the main characters interact with each other through the series, sharing experiences that readers can easily relate too. These sensitive stories reassure young readers and provide them with a vocabulary which helps them to express and understand their feelings as they grow up and encounter different situations. 'Story words' in each book explain words simply and gently. Beautiful, fun illustrations from an award winning illustrator, plus supporting text for parents and teachers ensure children get the most from the books.

I wrote my first book when I was 8 years old. I glued photos of my cats in a blank book and wrote about them, too. Now I am an internationally-published children's author commended by the Library of Congress for my work encouraging children to read.
I write in a room between a deli and an art gallery on a small town street. I can see families walking by, and I can hear children laughing and playing. It helps me to remember what exactly I'm doing this for - creating books for families all over the world to use together, and helping children to love words.

Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

This was an anxiety themed picture book that I chose. Miss 3 didn't find it that appealing but it has some nice ideas about how everyone gets anxious about different things.

I thought this was a clever book in how there were two characters that we saw their point of view and their worries and how they were able to support each other. This is a lovely book to use to help children understand about why they may be feeling a little scared or worried, what it might feel like and how others might be feeling scared too. It portrayed a lovely story about how two children help each other when the other is feeling scared, and that if you tell someone then they can help you

My youngest liked it so much he asked for it twice.

He's autistic and struggles with his emotions. If this is something you're struggling with as a parent, would definitely recommend something in this vein.

Maddie recently had terrible stage fright before performing her French play as the narrator for the parents. And Kait has real issues with new situations, like starting basketball.

Everybody Feels Scared is one of my favorite books that I have read to my kids this summer. I liked how the book talked about how it feels in your body when you are scared, gave great examples of kids being scared and even tools on how to overcome those fears. This book has great pictures and nice size words for your young readers. I really had the opportunity to learn about my daughter, as she opened up about a situation she had during the school year that I was not aware of, the back of the book has words and what they mean which was a good opportunity to see if she knew what the words meant and teach in a simple way. I would recommend this book to anyone with children.
