Bringing the Nation's Husband Home: 1

Rate this book
Qiao Anhao and Lu Jinnian had secretly longed for each other for thirteen years, and now that there's a possibility for them to be together, even though the circumstances may be unconventional, neither one can refuse their inner desires any longer. Hurled into a false marriage, Qiao Anhao treads carefully towards the cold and reclusive Lu Jinnian, but after years of near-missed opportunities and deep misunderstandings, how could their last shot at love possibly run smooth? **"Nation Husband" is a Korean term awarded to a man who is perfect in the eyes of the public - an ideal husband.

I hated this. He was mean, she was whiny, and they both were stupid. But yet, I couldn't stop reading. Couldn't stop waiting for the next chapters on webnovel...

This book is very problematic - the lack of consent (including the use of drugs twice for non consensual intimacy), the use of violent/forced intimate relations as punishment and abusive behaviour... all these things should be condemned. Instead, these negative traits are lauded as signs of affection, love and even selflessness (“aw, she drugged him and sent a different girl to have relations with him because she loves him so much. She just wants him to have children and she’s barren, how selfless!”). No. No on so many levels. There was also times when I was left horrified at how misunderstood female anatomy was (and many other details).

It’s hard to root for a couple in a romance novel when there’s rape and abuse (physical, mental and emotional), regardless of however many ‘cutesy’ moments there are.

Best Novel Ever!

I first watched the anime of this book, and fell in love immediately! Of course the anime doesn’t cover everything so I read it online and have been searching for a way to buy it! Honestly, reading this can get frustrating at times, and it nearly impossible to put it down, but you will never once regret starting it! I have yet to read a novel as captivating as this one, and I hope to one day be able to buy the whole story and put it on my bookshelf! Don’t pass this one up, I promise you’ll thank me later ; D

This book has some super spicy moments, some super explicit hard to bear moments, and even some heartbroken moments. Though it make me laugh, cry, throw my phone (at my bed so it doesn’t really break), and not lose hope that there’s someone you truly love and care about, to truly cherish them until the day they die. Hope this novel has made me value my current relationship and cherish my lover, my true love forever.

Lost in translation?

Potentially good plot, however may not have translated well and more editing required as a few duplicated paragraphs were found in this story. A lot of potential lies in the character of Lu Jinnian, to delve more into his childhood/anger issues and to have him redeem himself.
