Because she knows what it’s like to be homeless, Clover Maes does all she can for the homeless community in St. George. When she spots a man in dirty clothes, with a beard down to his chest, she decides to help. Drawn in by his silent strength and clear eyes, she offers him an essentials bag and tells him there are people who care and want to help him get back on his feet.
Dustin Colt, shortstop for the St. George Redrocks Baseball Team, was in bad shape on the field. Apparently he was in such bad shape that he looked like a homeless man. With the embarrassment of Clover’s insinuation heavy on his mind, he argues with the do-gooder and then plays his best game of the season. Thinking he’s found the key to hitting doubles, Dustin goes out of his way to argue with Clover every chance he gets.
Clover can't seem to shake the determined baseball player and she can’t tell Dustin to head to the outfield and stay there because he’s donating a large sum to the local soup kitchen where she volunteers. She has to play nice—even if that means playing catch with the hot-shot ball player at midnight on a deserted golf course. In the wee hours of the morning, Dustin's true nature comes out taking Clover off guard. The more Clover learns about baseball, the harder she falls for the game, for the short stop, and for the Redrocks.
With that in mind, she's written over 200 novels full of fun and flirty characters who navigate the turbulent waters of romance with open hearts and creativity.

Fun, this was a great addition to the series. I liked the unique characters and fun setting.
Clover was raised by her single gypsy mother, she was homeless for her whole upbringing. It's hard to imagine someone having to grow up that way, but Clover met some nice people along the way who really helped her out and now that she has her life together she wants to do her part to help other homeless people. She helps work at a local soup kitchen and really goes out of her way to be there for the people that come there for help. She was a really likeable and interesting character. I also liked our leading man, Dustin. A star baseball play who helps his brother run his construction business on the side. Dustin and Clover had a fun meet-cute when she mistakes him for a homeless man! They have fun banter and great chemistry. It was fun watching their relationship unfold.
My only complaint is I wish there had been an epilog! I love those. Overall, a fun read and great addition to this fun series.
Content Romance: Clean Language: None Violence: None Religious: Very mild Series: Mr Baseball, Book Three
I love baseball and I love a good, clean romance. Combine those two things and I am a happy girl! This book stays on the light side, even though it had the potential of becoming deeper. I'm missing the overall resolution for Seth and the deeper emotional resolution for Clover. But this was a fun diversion and left me desperate to head to the ball field to catch a game!
Romance, clean; Series, but stand alone read Lovely romantic read! Fun baseball setting, deals with some hard issues with the homeless situation, but in a clever way. Seeing how they fall for each other after a misunderstanding as Clover tries to do good from where she came from was a heartfelt, fun read. Clever misunderstandings, a bit of pride, but two honest hearts finding each other made for a fun read! My wish, that it was longer! His play, his slump, his desire to be part of the team all made for an interesting back story to this novella. Love this series with the baseball team and players.
I loved this story and how two people from very different backgrounds came together. I also loved the baseball theme. This was a really sweet, clean romance with great characters.
Another totally clean, christian story about Clover who grew up sometimes on the streets with her free spirit gypsy mom who left her at age 18. She was lucky enough to get help from a christian organization and now has her life together and devotes time to help the homeless.
Clover mistakenly gives an essential package to a man on the street that looks homeless. He is actually a baseball player and is razed by his teammate about this. He then sees her in a club (as her gal pal forced her to go out) and he goes out of his way to embarrass her for thinking he was homeless.
He then gets roped by the team into doing charity hours with the same shelter as part of team plan to make players contribute to the community.
This is a sweet clean story sort of like I used to read in high school. It takes time with the characters and their stories as well as the romantic angle. There is wanting but no sex. Sometimes as a palate cleanser I just need something light
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Clover Maes who once was homeless, now helps homeless people and works in a homeless shelter. She mistakenly gives an essentials bag to professional baseball shortstop, Dustin Colt. The nest time they see each other he tries to embarrass her. When he has to do community service at the homeless shelter, they meet again and end up arguing, but she intrigues him and improves his game and they begin to date. A heartwarming book about love and second chances.
A charming contemporary romance. Clover Maes grew up homeless, and then, once she turned eighteen, her mom abandoned her. Now, she works in a food kitchen for the homeless. Dustin Colt is a member of the St. George Redrocks major league baseball. Mistaking him for a homeless man, she accidentally embarrassed him. Thus, the relationship starts off rocky.
OMGosh, OMGosh, OMGosh!!!! Each and every page... 😍😍😍
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it in one day; but, I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
I'm really getting hooked on Lucy McConnells baseball themed books, they are fun and so different from what I used to. I loved that this story brought in some tougher subjects in regards to homeless and shelters, it was really cool to see attention being brought to it. I definitely enjoyed this book and can't wait to start the next one.
This is a sweet story and a fun addition to the series. I loved the characters and their struggles and how they overcame came them. Clover and Dustin are a great couple with so much chemistry, sweet kisses and fun banter.
I appreciate this book's story because I don't think about a story with a girl whose whole life was as homeless. It's hard to believe but it could happen. So meeting a baseball player and having to interact with him at the food pantry where she now volunteers isn't hard to believe. Where my mind is engaged is how she feels about him because he's had a normal middle class upbringing and she's behind all the things she's missed not having gone to school or dating. She doesn't know how to catch or throw balls because she'd never played organized sports.
None of the book puts down that way of life. It was her mother's choice and she hadn't been abused...just made invisible until her 18th birthday when her mom kicked her out.
The book has church references but is not preachy. It is used to show different ministries such as the food pantry.
I loved the romance between our main characters. Sweet book!!
So I totally loved the previous book in this Mr. Baseball series. It’s pretty much my favorite sports book of all time. So I had really big hopes for this one. Sad to say I was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong it was still a good book to read but I think I just kept comparing it to the first one that I loved so much more.
This had a very interesting basis: a young woman, Clover, who had grown up on the streets with her gypsy of a mother missed out on a lot of “normal life experiences” including baseball. Feeling socially inapt in most situations, she doesn’t know what to make of Dustin the Baseball player other than being strangely drawn to him. Dustin knows exactly what he wants with Clover but is afraid to scare her off. The funniest part was when he realized she didn’t know how to catch. I can just see the scene happening in my head. LOL.
Anyway, in this book you get to watch her fall in love twice! Yes, twice! First with baseball and then with Dustin. Cute clean book.
Dustin's a shortstop for the St. George Redrocks. He's a down to earth guy that helps his brother with a construction business on the side. With his unruly beard, filthy clothes, and broken boot, he's easily mistaken for a homeless man. Clover's mom is a gypsy. Having been raised in a car without a place to call home makes Clover sensitive to those on the street and Dustin, unfortunately, looks like he fits that definition. He's not amused that anyone would think so. A simple case of mistaken identity leads to sparks flying, first in spite but then in love.
Clover Maes stops a homeless man and gives him an essentials bag and the address to to a soup kitchen. The thing is, the homeless man is actually the starting shortstop for the St George Redrocks baseball team. When Dustin humiliates Clover at a club in Las Vegas the barbs start to fly. Caught Looking is fast-paced and filled with sarcastic humor as two people from different worlds come together and Clover discovers that baseball is more than a bunch of oversized boys playing a kids game.
This was a cute and sweet read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked seeing the Redrocks team again and it was interesting to see just how fickle playing baseball well can be. I also appreciated the formerly homeless background of the female protagonist and how it added an additional measure of depth to this story. This was a cute and clean book that I would rate PG.
The premise was amusing but the rest of the book was should-i-care brow-raise inducing. Not much depth to frankly either the characters or the story and the drama was just annoying. If you're a fan of baseball, which I'm not, this may increase your ability to enjoy this book; not saying it's awful but it was mediocre at best imho.
Because she knows what it’s like to be homeless, Clover Maes does all she can for the homeless community in St. George. When she spots a man in dirty clothes, with a beard down to his chest, she decides to help.
She’s a young woman that has grownup homeless, and has many insecurities. He’s a baseball player with something to prove, can they make a life together?
I liked the premise of this book, but the execution didn't quite meet my standards. The drama felt forced and got on my nerves, and I didn't really connect with the characters.
