Life: A young computer hacker discovers our world is manipulated through our thought, created by the governments raising the tax rate to astronomical levels to enslave mankinds thoughts into poverty. Now he must join the Uprising to fight the powers, and accept this new role as their leader.
Life is the first book in the Life trilogy thrillers series. The subsequent books are aptly titled Death and Birth. These books are meant to explore Life in a different fast-paced, satirical, thriller, conspiracy style.
Travis, an Author, Filmmaker, and former Paratrooper was raised in Colorado. As an adventurous boy, Travis joined the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. It was at this age and during this time that he realized he had a talent for writing. As the years went by, he continued to write and grow his adventurous nature by traveling across Europe. While serving in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper, Travis was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001 to 2005. Upon his return, he got into the art of filmmaking. Travis used this art form to create a documentary in Africa in 2016. Aside from filmmaking, Travis is an Author. He has written numerous short books, screenplays, and he is also currently finishing up another novel.
Chock full of twists and turns, this novel is a great example of conspiracy theory meets suspense thriller. Set in the future, the people are taxed to the max, especially for sex and entertainment. Taxman and the Cowboy set out to change things. But who is really in charge? Who is keeping people marked and downtrodden? Who gives the order for so many deaths? The main characters are realistic. The world building is thorough. The plot is believable. Overall there is enough body to keep the reader interested.
I found it hard to review this book without just starting to tell the story. Basically it's a satirical view of a divided multiclass society in the future who all of them are been controlled by the government through taxation and brainwashing. Leaving people with very little individual reasoning. Again an upraising is about to happen. But who is behind it? The people or the government who might allow this in other to strengthen their hold over the population even more. And for how long has this control been going on? Samples are shown through earlier centuries that this is nothing new. The book is not left with a cliffhanger but it does leave enough possibilities for a continuing saga. I probably would read a follow-up to see how TaxMan deals with it all.
This is my assessment of this book Life by Travis Knoll according to 6 criteria: 1. Too long and Strenuous action - exciting - 3 stars 2. Boring - fun - 3 stars 3. not difficult to read (as for non English native speaker] - 4 stars 4. predictable (common) - good story (unusual) - 4 stars 5. Shalow story - has a deeper story - 4 stars 6. The story is mass - The story is clear and understandable - 3
I really enjoyed this book, just lots of actions, TAXMAN is codename, and like Robinhood who likes to help the poor, very interested read. Sci Fi. Read it, you will enjoy.
