The Monsterworld Saga #2

Protector: Monster Slayer 2

Rate this book
Slay monsters. Bed goddesses. Level up.

Rule the world.

My name is Sam Ryder. I was abducted from Earth and brought to a planet called Tor, a world of dying goddesses and deadly monsters. I was leveled up—twice now—transformed from a slightly overweight gamer with no real career prospects into a man-beast capable of slinging a massive hammer around like it’s made of feathers and cotton.

At this point I’ve already faced one of the massive demon overlords known as the Morgoss—those who are responsible for the overthrow of the Three goddesses and the predicament we find ourselves in. But I survived, along with several of my allies.

This is the continuation of my story.

Disclaimer: This book has monster slaying, cursing, heavy violence, and a group of exotic goddesses and alien women. The novel is not meant for people under the age of 18.

Sam has leveled up! Now he has to protect his fellow warriors and put together a plan to make things better. The characters are getting better and better in this series. Sam is not a procrastinator and sets out to fix things fast.

Great Sequel, Resolved a Lot of My Issues With First Book in Series
A fair amount of information about the cosmology/pantheon, where the other worlds are that are being harvested for warriors, and other details that made the environment a little bit more real. Still pretty superficial coverage but better.

Sam settles into the role of Protector and finally starts making some progress on changing the status quo. He evolves the way new recruits are broken in. One of the newbs, Belle, is drawn into the start of a quest, and is fleshed out as a character, before she decides to leave the team and join up with another.

I didn't enjoy the alien names that had slang/derogatory English nick names. E.g. one of the aliens has a name like Asfandargar and Sam and Beat and others continually refer to him as Ass Fan. Just not funny to me. Several other characters were treated similarly.

The wards are failing so Sam makes another expedition outside the norm, to find the sirens and collect some of their essence to restore the wards.

Same takes several actions to learn more about whats really going on, and get answers to some of his questions. This moves forward his relationship with the goddesses, and reveals more of what is going on behind the scenes, and how dire the situation has become.

The final part of the book covers a quest undertaken to regain one of the goddesses hearts from one of the Morgoss. A little more solid dungeon crawling, followed by a pretty epic final climb, fighting, and facing one of the three Morgoss. Very cinematic if you take a moment to. imagine the action as it occurs.

Nice teaser of more to come from Krill and her dragon.

Now We’re Talking

After the steep book one ramp-up, book two expands on everything: the characters, the world, the drama, the humor, and oh my yes: the action. We get a much more solid feel on the characters (and so does Sam *cough*) and even though the premise remains simple, the story and the world(s) it is in do not. Very nicely done; glad I’m following this series.

Different

This series is a little different than most fantasy books, in a good way. Characters that you care about, a story line that will keep you guessing, how will it end? I guess I will have to wait and see.

Quite crappy writing. The sexscenes are boring, childish and you feel they are written by a virgin how has seen to many pornos. But still this book is captivating, exciting, fun and actionpacked. This book will keep you entertained from the first page to the last. (If you skip the sex bits)

A fun little romp, and the plotting is ok, but there are multiple times words are missing and there are some minor continuity errors.

Love how the story progresses. The dialogue is at times a little too elementary but it picks up. The adult humor and use of sarcasm are very appreciated.

Honestly, just not my thing. The talk of sex and whatnot takes away from the actual story for me.

This is one of the best series that I have read in my years of devouring books! Can't wait to read the next one. Monsters and Warriors are what it is all about!

3.5 to 4 stars, Okay this kind of book is just my guilty pleasure and my so called junk food book. I can't help but love these type of books. So I total get it if this book is not for everyone and for some even find it offensive with the adult content but to each their own.
