You Rise Glorious: A Wild Invitation to Live Fierce, Free, and Unstoppable in a World that Tries to Break You, Shame You, and Tell You that You're Not Enough
A powerful message of hope for anyone burdened by shame and for everyone who longs for a fresh, passionate, and fierce life.
Now in convenient trade paperback and featuring a bonus section for guided reflection. This retitled edition of People of the Second Chance centers on HOPE. Every fierce and free life starts with that at the core. And every reader longs for a passionate and unstoppable spirit. This book will equip the reader to fight for hope and victory for others and also themselves.
Foster's examination of hope is one part challenge, two parts encouragement. He forces the reader to ask the following How did I lose it? How do I get? How do I give it? Each question is broken down into core concepts that are essential to a life devoted to the power of fierce and free awareness, discovery, ownership, forgiveness, acceptance, and freedom.
What an encouragement! This book reminds me so much of Bob Goff’s writings. It is focused on our identity as God’s beloved. Learning to believe that we are always and totally loved can sometimes take a lifetime, but living into that truth changes everything. Mike addresses many of the obstacles that keep us from a life of fullness. Great read!
This is an excellent book. One of the best books I have read in a very long time. I’m just left confused as to why more people have not read this book. It should be a best seller. It is packed full of great information and advice. Definitely a keeper.
Really good read. Mike has a heart to help people. Shared some very personal and vulnerable stories. Loved the last three chapters and the insights from the portion on the “gifts of” turning into the “power of”. He talks about addiction, loss, depression, emptiness, loneliness, and prodigal parties. It’s like reading a book from your cool older brother mixed with Sean Spencer from Psych and your favorite Pastor. Very encouraging.
I think that the author took such a casual approach to explaining different concepts of grace that they lost some of the difficult truths that come along with giving one’s life to Christ. Sometimes even going against the message they were trying to convey…😬
Everything will be fine, but one must be open to Christ changing our hearts. We are free indeed through Christ, and this freedom gives us the ability to choose right and change our ways! It’s amazing that we don’t have to stay the same.
(I might have skimmed chapters 7-12 which is like 1/2 the book🙃 so please take this opinion with a rock of salt)
Whatever you do - read this book. Bold, but solid theology throughout. We are so blinded in our current culture!! How insightful! I plan to lead a Bible study group through this book!
