A good introduction, for a non Jewish person, to the study of the torah. It covers lots of terminology, history, and lessons on ethics.

Some of the book is uneven in terms of it's pacing. The historical chapters drag through a long series of unfamiliar names and don't always do a good job of contextualising why we're learning that specific series of rabbis. Fortunately, it's organize to break up these slow sections with more interesting chapters.
