Corey is a young African American male, growing up in the housing projects of Chicago, Illinois. His older brother is his role model, who attempts to steer him in the right direction. As Corey's life begins to spiral downwards, he becomes rebellious and begins to run the streets. He hooks up with the wrong crowd, begins to run wild, and no longer cares about himself. His respect for himself and others diminishes considerably. While in his late teens, Corey meets a young lady who tries to lead him back onto the right track. Will Corey ever realize that the lifestyle he's living only leads to destruction? And will he turn Anew leaf?

This book started out very dramatic. Each character has a purpose in the story. It was like watching a very rough diamond get a fierce cleansing so it could shine bright like it’s original intent. I loved seeing Corey’s character grow. I saw this in my head like a movie and believe many people who may have grown up in a world like Corey’s could relate. This was a really good read and highly recommended!
