Caught between a death sentence at home, and a threat of war made by my own father in the fairy realm, the future isn't looking very good for me.
Being accused of treason against the paranormal community on Earth, and getting dragged out of my apartment by ECU soldiers was nothing short of what I deserved. It's why I let them have their way with me, until five masked witches manage to kidnapped me right in front of the soldiers.
They claim I stole a dragon weapon from them together with Jane Dunham, and now they want me to find it. In return, they'll offer me a trial with the ECU, a chance to clear my name and get rid of the death sentence looming over me like an angry cloud. It was all I could have asked for, and I was mere hours from getting my freedom back, when the commander of the Unseelie army comes to find me with some very bad news.
Now, I have a choice to make: save myself, or try to stop my father from killing half the Court and ruining the peace treaty with Earth.
There's a reason why I decided to star working on my own when Finn fired me from his Agency. Somehow, along the way, I forgot all about it, but the time has come to remember who I want to spend the rest of my life fighting for.
This is the first time I have read a series of books where the heroine gets dumber as the story progresses. There are just blatant missteps left and right. The power that certain characters can wield keeps changing. If “Jane” is powerful enough to create the fairy monster that destroyed the fairy realm and half of Manhattan in book 3, why can’t she wield that same level of power elsewhere? Why not just create another? Nah. She could just get captured. And Winter… my God. Her father has been sketchy from the jump. She behaves like a 6 year old, believing that daddy will just do as she asks. Her blind trust for so long is eye roll worthy. She’s proven herself smarter than this in earlier books. She’s infuriating. I don’t know why the people in her life out up with her.
The relationships aren’t developed enough to make the reader care. The writing is flat. There are so many grammatical errors. The author’s continuous use of, “I’m coming with,” and, “You are not coming with,” as though they are complete sentences is really annoying. There is much phrase repetition throughout. It’s just bad and got progressively worse with each book.

I think the 2nd and 3rd books were my favourites. This last one was better than the 5th. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a UF with basically no romance and banter/joking. There are plot twist, that might not come as a suprice, and some action with travelling between human and faery worlds.
I'm ready to continue to something with more banter, jokes and romance.
This is a great read. I really enjoyed the story. It is very fast-paced and keeps your interest. There is lots of action and surprises that keep it exciting.
This book was so full of story that I felt like I read three instead of just one. So much happens with Winter and the fall out of her choices, it keeps a furious pace the whole time. This is a great urban fantasy book and I loved the whole series.
Winter is so annoying. She is unreasonable, impulsive, and overdramatic. These books are also riddled with typos and grammar errors. It doesn’t bode well for the book when some typos are even in the book description. I skipped through a lot of this book. Winter is annoying, the trials she has to go through are silly and/or not interesting, the battles are drawn out and don’t really make sense. Disappointing series.
You could skim the last three books and not lose out on anything. Lots of unanswered questions at the end. I kept hoping the heroine would just die as she was constantly injured to the point of death and then healed by magic which I found redundant. Every time she was faced with a crisis she would “shoot first, and ask questions later.” Meh.
I really enjoyed the plots but had to take a star off across the board due to the main characters continual juvenile behaviour. A supposedly accomplished adult but with the maturity of a pre-teen which did not improve or abate as the books continued.
D.N. Hoxa’s Winter Wayne books have been a total pleasure to date, and that no less true of the most recent, and final, edition, Bone Fairy (Winter Wayne Book 6). Book 5 ended in quite a mess for our heroine Winter, and now it’s time to clean things up. As the publisher’s blurb notes, it’s time for Winter to remember who she want to fight for, and who she wants to spend the rest of her life protecting. Going about achieving that is an amazing adventure. Beautifully written and sometimes even quite a bit profound (“the wounds of the soul are ones you can never erase”), this is also quite a heck of fun. It’s the perfect combination for a set of characters I’ve come to be very attached to and the perfect way to bring things to a head. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that - with the caveat that this series is best read in order for full impact - Bone Fairy is most definitely “one to read”, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely going to miss more Winter Wayne books, though I’m looking forward to the related “Storm Witch” series that is promised to be starting soon in a post book note from the author.
Winter is back and this time she is ready to pay the price for her actions from the past few books. The story starts with her back to the human world just after the end of book 5 and of course things do not go as Winter thought they would go. After being ready to turn herself into the ECU, she ends up going down another path that leads to her getting the opportunity to try and fix what she feels has gone wrong. I thought it well written and felt it grabbed my attention from the first chapter and kept me glued to the end. I thought it funny in a few places but mostly a crazy ride and it seemed Winter bounced around. Good and bad guys from the series all show up and the twist or two were great. Just a great story that had me cheering Winter along. I loved it.
I’m glad this was the last book of this series because it was getting a little bit old and predictable. I was a little bit disappointed with winter in this book because she seems to be very much second-guessing herself. It was difficult for her to understand how unloving her father would be when she released him since she never lived in the fairy realm and understood how much they don’t really care about each other. I am glad that Jane finally got what she deserved even though it was interesting how they capture her. Now that winter is wanted by the people on earth for the stuff that she did she’s going to fairy to help talk her father out of a war. Now, she’s trying to save her own skin and the skin of the fairies in the fairy realm.
Leaving a review here because did not see the point on reviewing each book, Read all 6 and i had a lot of fun reading this series, the story itself is good very well written and the characters are funny. Definitely recommend this book series to everyone who likes reading fiction. Thank you for a fun adventure.
I really enjoyed this series and hate to see it end. Winter being a bone witch and fairy never left anything easy. It all worked out and she learned from her mistakes. This is where all in life should be. Still love and grow. Look forward to reading more from this author.
Good flow and action in the telling. Bender and Julian are in the middle of things and keeping Winter in the story. Types all the loose ends and moves the story into new adventures.
Bone Fairy, the sixth book of the Winter Wayne series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited. A great conclusion to the series, with a few nice twists in the plot along the way. This whole series is worth a read!
wow what a ride.. the chase never quits. How will Winter, Bender, Julian figure it all out? Will Winter be able to fix that which she broke and at what cost..
Aged 12+ except for all the quick killing. Ninja Witch Fairy Winter, powers through on bravery, stubbornness, quick action and luck. Hard to like such an immature, foolish and selfish FMC. She has great friends. Reasonable plot.
