Cole’s Saga - a Post-Apocalyptic novel by AJ Newman
Cole’s Saga is a stand-alone spin-off series, based on my American Apocalypse series. Cole’s Saga continues the story about Cole Biggs, and how he and his friends survive the apocalypse. North Korea, China, and Iran conspired against the world and used EMP bombs to destroy our grid. This new series starts in the Kentucky / Tennessee part of the USA. The grid is down, and people panic as planes fall from the sky and cars stall. The US Government collapses and rogue government groups rise to power. Jack Harp is Cole’s best friend’s father. Jack has had to survive on his own back in Kentucky while Cole and Joe Harp tamed Southern Oregon and killed or run off the gangs and thugs. Jack and Cole team up to fight the rogue FEMA troops so they can try to escape and join their friends back in Oregon. Cole, Molly, and her two cousins were kidnapped by FEMA and imprisoned in a FEMA Camp where they work as slaves to help rebuild the eastern part of the old USA. They were captured in California and taken to a FEMA camp in Kentucky. Cole had promised to take the women to Ashland, Oregon and the safety of Cole’s community and he will succeed or die trying. Read Cole’s Saga to find out how this young man survives and builds a team strong enough to defy the rogue FEMA and survive the lack of food and resources encountered during the apocalypse.

A.J. Newman is the author of over 22 novels that have been published on Amazon. He was born and raised in a small town in the western part of Kentucky. His Dad taught him how to handle guns very early in life, and he and his best friend Mike spent summers shooting .22 rifles and fishing. He read every book he could get his hands on and fell in love with science fiction. He graduated from USI with a degree in Chemistry and made a career working in manufacturing and logistics, but always fancied himself as an author. He served six years in the Army National Guard in an armored unit and spent six years performing every function on M48 and M60 army tanks. This gave him a great respect for our veterans who lay their lives on the line to protect our country and freedoms. He currently resides in Kentucky with his wife Patsy and their three tiny mop dogs, Sammy Cotton and Callie.
Spoiler alert: Story felt off that Cole and Cobie didn't marry. Was a ok book but not one I would recommend. Not all books should leave the readers depressed.
Wow! Where to start? Two stars was being generous. Not a good read. Disorganized and hard to follow. Rotten ending as well. Unbelievable even for this type of story. Should have an adult rating for the sex scenes. Not up to his former books. Liked the Oregon series but he went sort of nuts on this one. Needless to say I won't be reading any follow on books involving this group. Almost quit at about the half-way point but I struggled on. It just got worse. (IMO) Sorry.
Was looking for a better story bases on Cole and I am sure it would have been but Joe's father ruined it. In addition you could tell the author throw this book together without really planning it out. The story is rushed the characters except for Cole are very flat and in some ways never had a person to build from. The narrators tried to save the story but it was a lost cause and even loving Grandma or mom to Jack couldn't save it.
I was unsure about a spin-off series at first. Honestly, I think I liked this better than the original series. Cole's saga after being captured and sold into slavery to FEMA goons was one of those stories that's hard to hit pause (listened on audio). Also liked the incorporation of Grandma's letters, especially when Cole started seeing her in his dreams.
Newman has a great imagination for making this off shoot of the original series a very interesting concept. The romantic undercurrent adds just the right amount of spice without being overwhelming of one's sensibilities.
It was good to see how Cole survived after the capture but I did find it irritating the emphasis on 'hooking up' but I suppose it makes sense as they are all young and at that age.
The narration was brilliant and really brought the story to life
This is a very good story as long as you can ignore the many, MANY misspellings, awkward sentence structure, bad grammar, and plot errors. These problems prompted the trees star rating. The book can be improved by a good editing.
I really enjoyed the blending of one series with another. It was a smooth transition that kept you entertained. A real page turner that hooks you with the characters.
A really good read, plenty of plot twists and great characters, and the narration was wonderful. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
if you like sex Apocalypse, you got the right book. I kept hoping it would get better but page after page was dirty sex too. who needs to hear about a man looking up a gals skirt. And about women flaunting "their stuff" when it would seem to me they would be more mindful of surviving It was a constant sex book. I skimmed a lot of this book. I am reading the second book now in the hopes that it gets getter and less of what we all know about. Cole is so busy with his sex life, I don't see how he can concentrate on his group to travel to Oregon.
I was surprised by all the turns in this series. Just when I think I know where it's going I'm shocked and surprised and sitting on the edge of my seat. I love the way this series ended and would love to see where they are and where the country is sometime in the future.
An AJN. SYFY. Novel (PASF. - 1)/The Aftermath in North America After an EMP Attack
AJN. has. penned his version of the activities a free an EMP. attack on the United States and the rest of North America. AJN's. version of the EMP. attack is similar to others in print. However, the writing after the attack is outstanding. He descriptions of the different groups of people are his idea of what may happen and his presentation is excellent. Generally, characters change from novel to novel, but to maintain the simplicity of descriptions of individual people and groups requires a well written plot and constant flow of the people and information . This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
