Nick and Lesley's desire for a better life in the countryside was a long-held dream. Unforeseen events and a leap of faith forced that dream into reality, but moving to rural Ireland was only the beginning of their story. Foreigners in a foreign land, they set about making new friends, learning the culture and expanding their collection of chickens and unruly dogs. But their dream home was in desperate need of renovation, a mammoth task they attacked with the aid of a DIY manual, dwindling funds and incompetent enthusiasm. With defunct diggers, collapsing ladders, and shocking electrics, what could possibly go wrong? Will their new life live up to expectations, or will the Irish weather, dangerous roads, and a cruel twist of fate turn this dream into a nightmare?
Nick Albert was born and raised in England. After a hectic career in financial services, he relocated to rural Ireland, bought a dilapidated farmhouse, and began writing full-time. His first book was the twisty thriller Wrecking Crew. In 2017 he was signed to Ant Press. His new book Fresh Eggs and Dog beds was an instant Amazon bestseller. Book two in the series was published in June 2018 and book three in August 2019. All three books in the series have received multiple 5* reviews and featured as Amazon bestsellers. Book four is under construction.
4☆ Laugh out Loud Funny, Relatable and Highly Entertaining.
Fresh Eggs and Dog Beds 2 – Still living the dream in rural Ireland is the second book in the series. Although it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend reading the first book as it really sets the scene and is a fantastic book.
This time round Nick and Lesley have moved to Ireland and found their perfect new home. Which unfortunately needs a whole lot of renovating and a huge task ahead.
Oh and not to forget its home to their ever growing family of adorable animals they have acquired.
Fresh Eggs and Dog Beds 2 is such a fantastic read, it's laugh out loud Funny, Relatable, Highly Entertaining and will leave you wanting to read more! This book is a Memoir and Nick Albert is such a talented Author he makes you feel like you are living every high and low, trail and tribulations Nick and Lesley face when making their dream house a home and fitting in with the locals.
So if you are looking for a charming, witty fun read that has adorably cute fur babies then this is the book for you!
Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

if you’ve ever visited Ireland then this book is for you and if you’ve NEVER visited Ireland then it is most certainly for you! The descriptions of Nick’s remote home and its environs take you right to the heart of this beautiful country. Ramble through the woods with him and his dogs, meet his kindly but eccentric countrymen and soak up a bit of Ireland’s history too, as you visit historic landmarks reached by narrow, winding country roads. Savour his descriptions of the local wildlife, the weather, numerous power-cuts and leaks. But for me, as a nurse, the highlight was poor Nick’s visit to A&E - hysterically, laugh-out-loud funny, if only for the reader.
This is the second book in the Living the Dream in Rural Ireland series, but the first I read, and I loved it. I had no problem following this story, but I will definitely go back and read the first in the series. Have you ever wanted to chuck it all and move to a rural area, buy a rundown house and fix it up just the way you want? After a health scare, this is exactly what Nick and Lesley want to do, in the Irish Countryside.
In this book, English couple, Nick and Lesley are looking for a better life in the countryside and are able to purchase a fixer-upper in Ireland. Their plan is that they are going to do the work themselves. They are in a foreign land, need to learn the laws and regulations, make new friends, find equipment and materials and using their DIY manual, get to work. Well, that all sounds scary to me, but it makes for a wonderful and humorous story. I chuckled at times and guffawed out loud at others. Even with everything that went wrong, they still kept their sense of humour and humility. Several friends from home came over to soak up the history in Ireland, so Nick and Lesley shared local attractions several times with family and friends. With all the mistakes, accidents, equipment malfunctions and plans that go awry, this book had me stopping everything to listen to their antics. I definitely recommend this one for a change of pace, a humorous escape and even to learn a bit about Ireland.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andy Stevenson. This is a new narrator for me, but I definitely enjoyed his performance. His expression, accents, voices and intonation were right on the money for me and he is definitely the voice of Nick Albert to me. I received a copy of this audiobook upon request from Rachel's Random Resources. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
I'm addicted to this series! The author doesn't write with rose-tinted glasses, but nevertheless finds the humour and positives in every situation, making it such a good read. Having lived the life, I can confirm the accuracy and harsh/witty reality!
Having read and throughly enjoyed the first book I was eager to see how Nick and Lesley were getting on and how the renovations and repairs to their house in Ireland were going. Due to stress Nick was advised to find a slower pace of life and so he and Lesley moved to a property in need of repair. This was a mish-mash of a house that had been added on over the years and in need of a lot of TLC. It is also in the middle of nowhere on a mountain.
Well I cant think of anything more stressful than renovating your own home when you only have a DIY manual for guidance. But from a readers point of view it does make very entertaining reading and Nick has a fabulous way of injecting a sense of humour into the various mishaps that have happened along the way.
Not only are they dealing with the different way of life, the remoteness and the task ahead of them they are also battling the weather. This brings many challenges and again humour. Building work at the best of times is weather dependant but when you are up a mountain the challenges are made more difficult.
As well as the increase in their animal family, which adds some hilarious moments, Lesley has back problems requiring hospital trips. A very scary time is also included as she is admitted to hospital.
It is such an enjoyable read as I get a glimpse into this couples life. It is a book that has its ups and downs and there are so many moments when I found myself chuckling. The dog antics and the various anecdotes are just brilliant reading and I take my hat off to the pair for the challenges they are facing to build their dream home.
A brilliant read of a couple starting over in a new country and the various things that happen along the way. It is a book I would definitely recommend.
This book should carry a warning- Do not read in public places as you may be laughing out loud. I did several times! Nick and Lesley are now in Ireland having bought their dream home. I say dream, there is a lot of work to be done before the dream becomes a reality and being Ireland there are several other factors to take into consideration. I had to laugh about the Irish weather (my husband's family is Irish). Lashing fire hoses just about describes it and that if you don’t like the weather- take a breath and it will no doubt change very shortly. Being well travelled I can safely say there is no weather like what hits you in Ireland! The fresh egg part of the title comes from the hens (PS- Nick- a torch in the coop helps get them to bed) and the dog beds from their two lovable rascals. A story of life and building and the ups and downs that many have experienced in doing up a property and living in a different place told how it is. How about being sent home with six persian rugs “ to try them”? No deposit, no names just trust. Got to love the Irish! From builders who are trying to rip you off if you can get them to the genuine loveable characters that make the world go around. This is a real tonic of a read for anyone who has animals, or has done work on a property or lived in an unfamiliar place- or maybe just a little escapism. A read with more than a smile- a huge grim and literally laughing out loud. Thanks Nick- this was a brilliant read and I very much look forward to the next one. I loved Nick Albert's first book in this series-and I really loved this second instalment! Here's another delightful slice of country life.
At the start of the book, Nick and Lesley have lived in Ireland, Country Clare, for just a few weeks. Book 1 tells of the lead-up to deciding to move to Ireland; to change their life for the better, to lead a more relaxed existence after a health scare. It also tells of their search for a new home in Ireland. In Book 2, it's time to get to work and do a major renovation on their new abode.
Life is good-Nick's job is going great as a golf club pro. He gives lessons and does club repairs etc. They now have a new, quieter life-and his description of their surroundings certainly sounds heavenly. Rather than relax completely, they decide to take on the big renovation project themselves, to 'Do It Themselves'. They will learn as they go. As well as the tales of how they cope with the renovations, there are also the general problems that can be thrown into family life.
His first book was so good, so I was wondering if he'd be able to equal it-but, once I got going-it was just superb. There was so much to make me smile-I love his humour and his choice of words. A lovely, refreshing read about moving country, upping sticks, but to Ireland. We see so many moving to France/Spain/Italy books, but here is something completely different, and so lovely.
This is the second of Nick Albert's books and while I enjoyed the first one very much, I absolutely loved this one. It has so much more of everything I really like reading about. Firstly, Nick is a self-confessed newbie to the whole DIY renovation game, and I could relate to his labours so well. I loved all the descriptions and could have done with even more of the 'how I went about it' sections. I should also say I admire him hugely for taking on such mammoth tasks as rebuilding a complete wing/barn and moving a floor upwards. Goodness me, what courage he had. But let's not forget Lesley, Nick Albert's wife, too. She is one brave and hard-working lady, given the personal challenges she was faced with – as any reader will testify.
Secondly, I enjoyed and laughed along with the author's self-deprecating humour. I had several good chuckles, but my favourite line in the book has to be this one about buying a new car: "Owning the most expensive, shiny, new, super-fast status symbol in County Clare is akin to putting lipstick on a pig. No." That one really caught my funny bone big time.
Thirdly, I loved all the animal and dog parts, but especially his tales of their chickens and ducks. I could just see it all. I have a great fondness for the daftness of chickens and being a boat dweller, I am constantly delighted by duck behaviour, but Nick's birds are different. Lovely, funny tales that had me roaring with laughter.
Lastly, the book is imbued with the flavour of Ireland in its country characters, the descriptions of the scenery and the liberal dashes of Irish history and culture. There are also some personal challenges for the couple that give poignancy and anxiety to an otherwise wonderful new life. Altogether, this book has everything that makes it the perfectly mixed cocktail of ingredients for a terrific read. Thank you, Mr Albert. I shall now look forward to reading Book 3!
I’ve just finished listening to another narration by Andy Stevenson of Nick Albert’s delightful continuation of his and wife Lesley’s new life in rural Ireland. Andy has really got the Irish accents down, and gives each new character his or her particular Irish brogue. It’s really fun listening to the audible narration where you can hear these people all talking in their own way. Nick Albert has written another hilarious account in this book 2 of the trials and tribulations he and Lesley go through in their DIY efforts to renovate their home. There is sadness in this story, too, and Nick handles it with compassion and his own brand of humour. Nick’s words paint scene after scene with not a word wasted, and Andy sets you right in the scene, as you hear each individual’s peculiar speech pattern from the different Irish counties, both of them thus completing the picture. Then there are the dogs, more and more of them, with their own idiosyncrasies. I got quite fond of all the characters, as I’m sure you will, when you read this charming ongoing story. Don’t miss it, in all its sequels.
Laugh Out Loud funny! As a person who fell in love with Ireland on her first trip, reading this book is so Ireland. Nick's wit comes across on every page.
Fresh Eggs And Dog Beds 2 is the second part of the continuing adventures of Nick and Lesley Albert, as they pursue their dream of living the good life in rural Ireland.
Nick and Lesley are now living in their rural retreat and it is time to settle down to the good life and embark on their ambitious programme of DIY improvements to their ramshackle home.
Will their new life live up to expectations, or will the Irish weather, dangerous roads, and a cruel twist of fate turn this dream into a nightmare?
Welcome to part two of the continuing adventures of Nick and Lesley Albert, as they set about making friends, learning what life is all about in Ireland, and expanding their menagerie of animals, all while beginning the mammoth task of DIY ahead of them - with Nick's trusty secondhand DIY manual at the ready.
It was so lovely to meet up with Nick and Lesley again, as they really get stuck into their new life in Ireland, and this time Nick talks us through the start of the DIY work that needs to be done to their ramshackle house in order to make it their home. There is lots to do, and with the DIY successes come the inevitable disasters too - malfunctioning equipment, accidents, and the vagaries of the Irish way of doing things all provide fodder for Nick's tale, and inevitable targets for his gentle humour.
As the work progresses, Nick and Lesley begin to fall in love with the beauty of their new surroundings, and appreciate how different their life has become away from the hustle and bustle of Essex. There are plenty of tales to be told about the 'special' Irish weather and the wildlife around them. Talking of wildlife, Nick and Lesley's personal menagerie also starts to expand quite significantly this time around, as they acquire more chickens, ducks and dogs, which all add to the fun.
This episode also brings a cruel twist of fate that brings home the consequences of the isolated life that Nick and Lesley have now chosen for themselves, but in a strange way this reinforces the meaning of the new beginning they have made in Ireland - and confirms that this has been just the right move for them.
As in the first book, this audio book is narrated by the voice talents of Andy Stevenson, who now seems to have a real feel for what the Alberts' adventures entailed, and I think, he carries off the parts rather well (especially the accents!).
I find these books strangely enchanting, and there is so much of real life in these tales - the highs and the lows - that truly connect you with what Nick and Lesley are trying to achieve here. I am really looking forward to finding out what comes next for the Alberts!
The Renovations Continue Well, here I am back in Ennis, County Clare at Nick and Lesley's farmhouse home, Glenmadrie, right in the heart of the beautiful countryside. Nick's descriptive style of writing has pulled me right back into their lives. It is now time to get to work on their major renovations, well that is if Nick can fit it in as his job as a golf pro is rather hectic.
They are now more settled into their new way of life, Nick has a job teaching and coaching golf and club repairs. Then of course he has to start the renovations which they have decided to do themselves learning as they go along. Their first and foremost job is to drill for fresh water, for this, they hire Diarmuid with his trusty boring machine. However, before the drilling can commence they need to dig a trench to house the pipes, once done he needs to build a pump house for the well, this leads to lots of digger fun.
Armed with his trusty second-hand DIY manual it is renovation time, time to practice his DIY skills on the building of a pump house, if this stays up he is on the right track and can move onto the conservatory. Amid family visits, they make good progress with constructing a vegetable garden and the renovations of the conservatory. I am rather impressed with Nick's building abilities.
There is the arrival of more chickens and ducks to add to their smallholding along with the two pups from the rescue centre. Lady and Kia were literally snatched away from death row, had they not found a home they would have been euthanised that evening. Lady, a short-legged Fox Hound and sounds adorable, Kia, a black collie who has major health problems to overcome before she can live the dream life at Glenmadrie.
Life is not always easy and straight forward, suddenly health issues for Nick surface and Lesley's back problems resurface with vengeance after a car accident. Nick makes light of his own problems, these are soon sorted. For poor Lesley things have become rather more serious, her treatment necessitates a couple of spells in hospital, finally after a rather prolonged hospital stay she is finally allowed home.
This is a highly entertaining read filled with humour, a bit of Irish blarney, care and compassion, and plenty of high jinks and I loved it. Looking forward to book 3, thank you, Nick.
It’s hard to believe this is a memoir and not fiction. But whatever-it’s a charming and rollicking tale that is as engaging as an Irish accent. The book is subtitled: Still Living the Dream in Rural Ireland and if you look closely at the cover of this charming book- you will see that one man’s dream is another person’s “mayhem”. Yes, in his congenial book, author Nick Albert describes the “beauty of owning land in County Clare Ireland” and the “satisfaction of remodeling and adding value to the home”-while the cover shows a man falling off a ladder, a happy gang of rowdy dogs, and a chicken.
This is the second book in what is currently a 3 book series- and the first one I have read- although I will be reading Books 1 and 3 as soon as I can. The reason I joked that this seemed to be more fiction than fact, is because who, having never been to Ireland, would move to County Clare, buy a derelict property and proceed to create a cozy country life-totally DIY?? Nick Albert and his wife Lesley would.
Author Nick must have made time to kiss the Blarney Stone, because he certainly has a lovely writing style. Warm, pleasant, with enough details to be fun, the author is a nice guy who loves to tell a humorous story. He also enjoys operating heavy machinery and setting himself on fire. While he may joke about his remodeling, once this man makes a list with bullet points, he can dig ponds, and knock out walls and still have time to walk his dogs and laugh at his ducks’ antics. He and his wife must deal with literal and figurative ups and downs, as their love for their new life shines through.
Get to know Nick, his family of people and animals, and the beauty and history of Ireland, with this happy and satisfying story. I received a review copy from Rachel’s Random Resource and this is my honest review.
Do you like fixer-upper stories? Do you like traveling and experiencing new cultures? Do you overcome blunders, misfortunes, and obstacles with a smile on your face? Then, my guess is you'll enjoy this tale as much as I did.
I've rarely listened to audiobooks with male narrators. I wonder why that is? Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. His Irish accent brings me back to my wonderful visits to Ireland.
Although I haven’t read or listened to the first book in this series, I sank effortlessly into this one. I understood Nick and Lesley's desire to stay in County Clare! I wanted to do the same when Hubby and I viewed the ancient churches and castles and made our way through the various pubs and historical sites.
I laughed and cringed at the hijinks, enjoying every minute of this fixer-upper nightmare, and easily pictured each scene. This story has me longing to return to the Emerald Isle--an impossible feat right now with this dreadful pandemic—but, when I do, I doubt I’ll be looking into fixing anything.
Audio Narration: Andy Stevenson does an excellent job with narration. His inflection fluctuates with the various characters, he is believable, and made Nick really come to life.
Audio Production Quality: The production quality of this audio book is clear, with no distracting noises or music.
Overall Opinion: I enjoyed every aspect of this story. The setting, the adventure, the blunders, and the humor. The story held my attention throughout, wasn't too long or too short, and served as a delightful escape from the unrest going on in the world in present times.
I was blessed to receive a complimentary copy of this audiobook from Rachel’s Random Resources.
I read a lot! Over the years, there have been many books that I’ve rated as 5 stars and reviewed saying how much I loved them. That has all changed. This book, which I received in exchange for an honest review, has got to be the best (most entertaining, most humbling (I don’t think I’ve ever used that word)) book I’ve ever read or listen to. None of the past books can even compare.
Home improvements? Check.
Focused on real people’s experiences? Check.
Involves animals? Check.
Ireland? Check.
First time reading or listening to a memoir? Check.
Is hilarious (fart jokes?) Big Check!
Although I didn’t listen to book 1, within minutes of finishing this book, I had bought it. So I’m all good now and can’t wait to start that one.
There were so many funny scenes/lines. The best ones that stuck with me were when Nick was mowing the grass, when Amber was chasing the hares (that got away), the stove drama, the blind guy at the bar, the hospital visit (colonoscopy), and all the DIY tips.
The descriptions the author used provided a clear image of what the land and their house looked like. It sounded like my kind of place, especially with all the animals. I’ve always wanted to move away from the busy cities and go back to nature for animals, peace, and relaxation.
At first I thought the author would only include the happy, funny, or troublesome times he and his wife got to experience while trying to fix up their property, but I heard what happened to the other shelter dogs and when Leslie got sick, it was so sad!
The narrator did a great job and really added to the atmosphere. I’d listen to him again.
Either way, I have nothing negative to say about this beauty (story).
( Format : Audiobook ) "The mouse that will never come." Reading this book it is easy to be overtaken by feelings of jealously, despite the trials and tribulations of restoring an old, mouldering heap of an excessively large and higgledy piggeldy cottage replete with wood worm, droughts and damp. Following on from Fresh Eggs and Dog Beds, 1, in which Nick and Lesley Albert decided to leave the stress of their English lifes for a new start in Ireland, their search for a remote cottage to renovate and the first steps to get established, Book 2 follows the couple over the next two years. As well as the delights of the digger, the modified American mower, pop-up police road checks and pushing down walls, there are the Irish variations of rain, birdlife, bats, rats but no cats, and plenty of dog action to keep the reader smiling. And there is the beauty of Ireland and the Irish.
This ongoing story of the relocation of the Alberts is a real joy. Well performed by the enigmatic Andy Stevenson, it is easy to be right there with the couple in both their pleasure and pain. My thanks to the rights holder of Fresh Eggs and Dog Beds,2, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. Recommended to anyone who loves life, adventure and the discovery of the new. And dogs.
When I was finally able to get to Fresh Eggs 2, I couldn't put it down. I think I enjoyed this one a little more than the first. This one really gets into the nuts and bolts of renovations into the country home in County Clare. I couldn't help but relate while reading and thinking of all the renovations to our very old home we purchased 26 years ago. Although, we have never had quite the quirky workers to keep us on our toes. Loveable characters that they are. I was in stitches so many times with the stories about dog adventures and the dog rules of ball playing. Another relatable topic. Here is an excerpt from the chapter; Doggy Ball Games, “I think Kia considers herself exempt,” I smiled. “Yesterday, we were on the logging road, up in the forest. After one particularly violent body-check left Lady upside-down in a gorse bush, I imagined I could hear her mumbling, Bloody Kia…taking it a bit seriously…only a game after all, as she limped away.” I formed quite a funny visual. Nick and Leslie also have their share of troubles in part 2, my heart went out to them many times. They seemed to come through things quite well and manage to retain their sense of humour. A thoroughly enjoyable read and looking forward to part 3!
I was very much looking forward to the second book in this series and it was worth the wait. Having bought their new house Glenmadrie, Nick and his wife Lesley embark on a series of major DIY improvements to transform it into their dream home. Basically it involved completely gutting the interior and also little things like drilling a well to provide running water! They deal with major setbacks and health issues but always keep going and trying to remain positive. There are lots of events in this book to make you laugh, from big black bulls wandering across the property to escapades with a digger. I really enjoy Nick Albert’s wry sense of humour and his great descriptions of the ups and downs of home improvements which seem to be more of a challenge in rural Ireland. Of course there are also incidents with the dogs and with the chickens, hence the title of the book. From the colourful cover to the last page it’s a delight to read. Sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy reading about Glenmadrie taking shape. Highly recommended.
Living the country dream in Ireland was how we left Nick and Lesley at the end of book 1. Book 2 details what life is like and the ups and downs of renovation. The honesty and humour are the unique selling point of this series. It's not just the good bits it's the bad bits too. There are many poignant events in this memoir that make the listener empathise.
For anyone who's ever renovated their home, you'll be agreeing with Nick's observations and chuckling at the mistakes and the near disasters. Add in the peculiarities of an unfamiliar country and its a recipe for misunderstandings and subsequent laughter.
The animals are still front and centre in Nick's life, and there are many anecdotes some hilarious, some sad in this story. What shines through is the sharing of a dream, the courage and the innate sense of humour of the storyteller and his wife.
I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment. The narration is first-class brings the characters to life.
I received an audiobook from the author in return for an honest review.
Imagine yourself having a chinwag with a good pal over a cup of tea, that’s what reading Fresh Eggs and Dogs Beds 2 is like.
The author’s richly descriptive style immediately drew me into his world of gorgeous Irish countryside, and life in a remote location with his wife and a steadily growing band of animals.
I particularly enjoyed the stories about his dogs. Beautifully written, they were sometimes heart-rendingly sad, often hilarious. I so admired his wife for battling with health problems, the latter of which Nick describes with great poignancy. As for the renovations on their rural farmhouse, which form the major part of the book’s tale – just wow! I was incredibly impressed by Nick’s abilities as a builder.
If you enjoy a highly entertaining, gentle read, filled with humour, great vignettes and a touch of Irish blarney thrown in for good measure, then this is the one for you. I loved it and look forward to reading about Nick and Lesley’s continued adventures in Ireland.
This is book two in this great story. Nick and his wife Lesley move to rural Ireland from a large city in England to escape the rat race. That all happens in book one and is a great read. This book picks up where the first left off. If you have not read the first don't worry you will find this book funny and wonderful all on its own. But I would bet you will seek out book one to read too. I fell in love with Ireland and the wonderful people on my trip to the fair Isle. This book does a wonderful job of showing off the grandness of both the place and its magical people. I see that there is a book 3 I will have to read that as well. This audiobook is narrated by Andy Stevenson and he is just the perfect voice for this book.
There is a cost to relocating to a new abode and a new life in a new country but for every disadvantage there are multiple blessings.
Nick Albert recounts both the challenges and the delights in an entertaining way that brings the reader right into his under-permanent-renovation cottage in Ireland with his wife Lesley and their ill-matched but much-loved dogs Romany, Amber, Lady and Kia.
The tales Nick Albert has to tell in this second of his trilogy about relocating to rural Ireland and learning how differently things work there are insightful, poignant and delightfully humorous.
The first book pretty much covered the why and how of the husband and wife decision to change their lives by leaving job, family, friends, and England to move to a sustainable lifestyle in Ireland. In Book 2, the trials and triumphs of the DYI, Lesley's particular problems and new ventures, more chickens and dogs are detailed with the same self deprecating humor that makes it all so funny. I laughed my way through this one too! Loved it! Andy Stevenson continues to be the perfect narrator for this hilarious series!
If you haven’t read the first book that is OK as it is rehashed and then on to the new year. Unbelievable that almost everything is done by Nick DYI. I can’t wait to see before and after pictures. New dogs, new ducks instead of chickens, damaged people and the Irish hospital trying to help ease his wife’s back pain. A very scary time also. I feel like I need to go to Ireland to visit them.
On Nick, you can't be done yet! This book continues the story of Nick and Lesley who have up "the rat race" in England and moved to Ireland. Along the way they introduce to reader to rural Irish life and the trials and joys of living in their new country. In book two you'll learn on Nick and Lesley 's new additions to their household, the new wing, kitchen renovations and Lesley's near brush with death. There's still more to tell...here's hoping there's a third book!
A very funny addition to the other books in this series.Nick and Leslie moved to Ireland to get away from it all. They did and now they are trying to remodel a house, get a new puppy, etc,on Ireland time. With the natives round about way of talking ,Nick tries not to get flustered. Andy Stevenson was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
Laugh, grimace, love, and enjoy the beauty of Ireland
Nick continues to soldier on with his home renovations as we hold our breath each time he escapes serious injury. In between jobs, we get to walk the moors with their pack of dogs. Each dog lovingly described and full of personality. A great read leaving you to want more.
I enjoyed the first book, but really really enjoyed this second book! I can't wait to read future books. Nick briefly mentioned that his wife was knitting. I would love to read about her knitting experiences in Ireland, so please consider including a chapter on that! Thanks!!
Read this and its first installment to rid yourself of the day's worries. Escape to a rural Ireland homestead to peek through the windows of a couple starting over in a new country. They picked their ideal home and decided to make the necessary improvements themselves!
Nick continues to tell his story with humor and self-deprication. The setting is truly foreign to me, but I'm enjoying the story anyway. And Andy Stevenson continues to deliver a quite satisfactory performance.
NOTE: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
