Rate this book
How far would you go to save the person you love most? How far would you go to save someone who wanted to kill you? When Josie moved to her mother's hometown, she had hoped for something more normal than the nomadic life she had growing up. Life had become strange enough since she'd discovered she was magical. But there is deep magic in the backwoods of south Louisiana. Thrown into a magical conflict hundreds of years in the making, the choices Josie makes may well cost her her humanity and her life.

Cajun or Creole, hoodoo or who does

This is a story of a young girl named Josie who had travelled the world with her mother. This young girl discovers her powers in a time of danger. She has returned to the land of her mother and grandmother. Her MawMaw is a very lively lady, possessing powers beyond what is considered normal. Th young girl gets a job with a neighbor, Miriam, one who has bound animals to her, controlling their movement, binding them out of a desire to be in control. In the end the animals are able to speak to Josie and she leans they were humans, turned into animals by the evil Miriam. Does good win over evil? What cost is salvation? What good is power if you lose your soul? A very nice novel. Thank you Goodreads

Good. Story

For all of the twists and turns of the Golden Thread, for all its violence it is still a gentle tale of seventeen year old Josie coming of age as a young woman and a witch. It draws one in with a curious group of characters that create a real world of fantasy. My only complaint is the need for editing. Not as bad as some but still annoying.

Good storyline

Some extra editing would have been nice. Story was good. Cajun fantasy fiction was a new one for me. Liked the characters.
