Rory Haven and Brittany Manion knew one another as children...

...but it's been a long time since their childhood summers at Summerhaven.

The Havens weren't the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn't keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.

When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. Meanwhile Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.

4 Timing is Everything Stars

Starting a new series is not easy... there are so many things that need to happen. The main setting is introduced, the main characters established and the overall feel of what they all represent needs to come across. And all of these touchpoints need to be surrounded by a story that holds our attention and heart.

Katy Regnery knows how to do all of this. She has had many different series in the past, all with strong results and I think this one will be no different. She has taken the idea of a summer camp from the past and converted it now to an event/corporate retreat. It is run by the triplet siblings, each with their own specific places and personalities for us to care about. The family is strong Irish to the core and there are layers of internal angst, heart and family love galore....everything to hook you into this new wonder of Summerhaven.

SumerHaven was an exclusive camp their parents created. Coming from Ireland and having the experience of working in upper-crust homes...the understanding of Front of the House and Back of the House was deeply ingrained. Those that were staff...were to do but never be seen. Those that were part of the establishment were to make sure everything ran smoothly, perfectly but were to be a part of the guests.

There was NO MIXING...And that held especially true for the Haven Triplets. The mother would start out the season sitting the 3 of them down with the same lecture...No crossing the lines...no flirting or hanging out with the guests...No Breaking the rules... Or there would be hell to pay dished out by the Ma and her friend the wooden spoon...

Now these are the Haven triplets... Ian, the rule breaker, Tierney, the daughter who would rather stay in the background, and Rory, the one who would make sure everything worked out, all would listen and nod their heads that they would do as they were told... But Ian already had broken the rules with the girls and it didn't look like this was going to change...Tierney was fine staying in the background, reading and being on her own... and Rory knew what needed to be done but he also was drawn to one of the campers and looked forward to her coming every year.

Brittney Manion was that camper...she caught Rory's eye and worked very hard to stay distant and away. He couldn't help himself from looking once in a while and she held his heart in his young 15-year-old dreams. There was something about her...She was different from all the other posh girls...she seemed a bit alone and lost and only hung out with 2 other girls.

Rory wasn't alone in dreaming of what he couldn't have... Brittney was taken with Rory. She thought he hung the moon the way he was always doing things around the camp, making things just so...But she also thought he thought nothing of her... that he actually didn't like her at all because every time she saw him looking at her, he would frown and look away. He wasn't friendly like his brother Ian...and Tierney kinda stayed to herself...so Brittney thought there was something wrong with her... that Rory was so distant.

And we now have our backstory for these two...

We have them crossing paths again under very different circumstances...

Rory has been running Summerhaven for the past 6 years. He had to change his personal plans and take over running the camp due to his mother's stroke. He was the logical choice as he had just finished his degree in Hospitality and neither Tierney nor Ian wanted to do it. Rory being Rory, put his plans on hold and stepped up. He thought it would be only for a bit...but year after year, it became clear he was going to be there for the long run.

With that in mind, he did implement many of his ideas from his dream of creating rustic retreats with all the luxury of 5-star resorts... Corporations love these things as they do team bonding and meetings. The goal was also to encourage the Boston Elite to think of SummerHaven for weddings. If he could break into that market... then things would really take off. If things went well, then maybe Rory could finally pursue what he had hoped all those years ago before his mother's stroke.

Brittney Manion had her own plans for her life...Born into the Hotel Manion fortune, you would think her life had been full of wonders...but that was not the case. Like many uber-wealthy parents...they don't always tend to their own children...and are off doing their Own Thing... causing that phrase of "Poor Little Rich Girl" to be more than just a cliche. Brittney was never made to feel as if she was part of a family...and disinterest created a breeding ground for insecurity. Her parents divorced leaving her adrift and in a sense, she just wasn't enough.

All Brittney ever wanted was to be loved for herself, not her fortune. She wanted to be part of a family unit and she wanted children...She fell and married the first man who showed her attention and thought it was the life she had dreamed of...Only for him to walk away saying her dreams of babies weren't his...She then discovers on Facebook a year later he is marrying his pregnant girlfriend and they are thrilled...

Vulnerable, hurt, and a little drunk... she pours out her soul to a man who listens and tells her sweetly, she will make wonderful babies one day...He courts her, he is a pediatrician, and Brittney is thinking this is the one...They become engaged and after time Brittney suggests a date for the wedding...

This brings us to Summerhaven...the one place where Brittney had always felt the happiest...What would be the best... combining that happiness with what should be her happiest day of all...getting married, right...It will be perfect.

When Brittney makes the arrangement to see the venue, she thinks Mr. Haven she is meeting is Rory's father... not Rory. Rory has no clue the woman he is meeting is the Brittney he crushed on all those many summers... Brittney booked the meeting in her past married name. When these two see each other in the flesh...all of the memories come flooding back on both sides...He remembering her and seeing how beautiful she is today... She seeing this manly man in front of her...

But she is making arrangements for her wedding...and Rory understands what that means...all he cares about is that she is happy...

This is our opening and as you can imagine...Brittney is at a turning point... there have been things she has turned a blind eye to with her fiancee... and all of her wish-fulfillment can cause blindness to people's faults or intentions.

This is a story where second chance and destiny are front and center. Rory sees Brittney clearly for who she is and wants her happiness. He sees she doesn't have any clue of how terrific she actually is...With his family including her with meals and moments, Brittney begins to blossom, and she herself through their eyes. She sees how she must take control of her own destiny and take off the blinders causing her to not see and think clearly. She has a huge growth arc that was more than due.

This is a sweet romance with Rory at first not knowing how to handle his feelings for Brittney... but the signs all point to him following his path to love...He does it just right.

There is much more to this than just Rory's and Brittney's tale. We have the fleshing out of Tierney and Ian. They are not just cut-outs; they bring real feelings to the story and we are given hints to something that happened back in the day with Ian and one of Brittney's camper friends.

As a first in the series, I think Katy Regnery touched all of the necessary bases. She has created a family to care about, want to know more of, and wish for the next book to come soon...What more could you ask for...I know I will be happily waiting to go back to Summerhaven soon.

Reasons for DNF:
1 - H has a lover who is 15yrs older than him
2 - h is engaged to another man
3 - h's fiance is 15yrs older than her
4 - h's fiance cheats on her with his ex-wife
5 - h has been married and divorced before, now has an ex-fiance and is suddenly 'in love' with the H - sounds like the h needs to learn more about herself before throwing herself into relationships

I am so dissappointed as Tierney sounded intriguing

Favorite Quotes:

I’m not a fighter by nature. Never was, never will be. That’s probably why I never fell in love. Love is the biggest battle there is.

Rory, you’re a dumbass if you think all fights require fists and fury. Some fights are quiet, but the battle’s still being waged.

My Review:

Oh, what fun! Katy Regnery has started a new series of stand-alone books featuring triplets of Irish descent, and what a diverse set of triplets they are, although close and patiently supportive of each other. I enjoyed this light and sweet story of secret childhood crushes reconnecting ten years later as adults. The premise was interesting, the characters were appealing and likable, and the writing was easy to follow and observant and insightful with a minimum of angst and conflict, and sprinkled with playful banter and a bit of steam. It was a delightful way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Rory had to set his dreams aside when illness struck his family. A meeting with a future bride to utilize the Summerhaven facilities brings all of his past plans rushing back. He was not expecting that bride to be Brittany Manion, the girl he had crushed on for three years when he was young. Now, he’s struggling with his feelings for a woman that is engaged to another.

Brittany dreams of the perfect life with marriage and children and family. Throughout her life she has never been enough for someone to love but now she’s clinging tightly to her dream. When she hits a speed bump along the way, Rory becomes her soft place to land.

I enjoyed watching Rory and Brittany fall in love. He was always there for her and she needed someone she could trust. My heart hurt for her as she struggled with feeling unloved but Rory was the perfect hero to sustain her through her pain. He was always so kind and caring and sweet. His heart was invested from the first moment he laid eyes on her again and yet he floundered at how to proceed. Watching him battle against his own mixed emotions was moving and I fell more in love with him as I witnessed his losing battle against loving a woman promised to another man.

This was a fast paced read, low on the steam, and any angst involved was due to Brittany’s relationship with her fiancée. The secondary characters were well developed and help to set up future books in the series. There is no epilogue, I assume due to this couple possibly being included in the rest of the series. Overall, this was a sweet read that I immensely enjoyed.

Fighting Irish was a sweet story that left a smile on my face. It was filled with heartwarming characters, not a lot of angst and it was a quick read. So here are three things that I absolutely adored while reading this book:

✮ Cute love story:
“Rory,” whispered Brittany, her lips so close to his ear that his eyes fluttered closed for a split second, “I wish you’d broken the rules.”

Rory always liked Brittney from afar. She was one of the campers that would come to his family's exclusive camp each year. But Rory's mom had a strict do not fraternize with the guests rule, and Rory was always the rule follower. Years later he comes face to face with Brittney, she wanted to use the camp to host her wedding. While the obstacles should feel daunting, because Brittney was engaged, I never felt like they were. I didn't like her fiance from the get to, so I was all about her ditching her fiance and getting with Rory. Bad Jen lol. Brittney and Rory were both attracted to each other, even if they shouldn't, and there was no way they could deny what was between them. What unfolded was oh so sweet and absolutely adorable.

✮ Loveable characters:
“Why are you so sweet?” she asked, blinking away unexpected tears as she looked over at him, her glance resting on his strong, smooth jaw and tracing the lines of his beautiful profile. Her cheeks were still warm from the way he’d just looked at her, but she squelched the tiny thrum of hope from deep, deep within her heart.

The characters were so easy to connect with and I loved how we alternated between Rory and Brittney. Rory Haven was sigh worthy, extremely patient, a hard worker and I loved how he went after what he wanted. Brittney Manion was from an extremely wealthy family, and she seemed a little nervous about why others truly liked her. While she didn't always trust her judgment, I loved how much she grew in this book. She went from a woman who almost seemed meek at times to one who finally started to listen to her heart. Brittney was such a warm, caring, thoughtful woman and I hoped she would finally make the right decision for herself.

✮ The importance of family:
Rory, you’re a dumbass if you think all fights require fists and fury. Some fights are quiet, but the battle’s still being waged. - Ian talking to Rory

This wasn't just a love story, in my eyes, family also played a strong, central theme. You see, Rory is one of three triplets. Not only did he come home to take over the family's business and put aside his dreams because his mother had a stroke. But his brother, Ian, was an alcoholic and we got to see how Rory and his sister, Tierney, pulled together for their brother. It was extremely heartwarming and I loved their dynamics. I also adored the mother son relationship Rory had with Mrs Toffle, who worked for him. They were such opposites, but they cracked me up!

So now I'm off to jump into the second book. It's about Rory's sister, Tierney, and I can't wait to learn more about her!

I love reading the first book of a series - They hold such promise and intrigue. I found this to be true when I began reading Fighting Irish. I was immediately drawn into the book and the sweet characters.

The book centers around Rory and his family's business, Summerhaven Resort and Camp. Rory and his siblings worked at the resort when they were young. They were taught not to fraternize with the campers. Rory abided by this rule however Brittany always caught his eye.
Several years later his parents can no longer run the resort and look towards Rory for help. Rory immediately steps in to help despite wanting to branch out on his own. He was definitely the center of his family. With his position in the family, him and his siblings shared a tight bond. I loved how close this trio was.

Despite coming from money Brittany didn't have it easy. She seemed to struggled to fit in anywhere but Summerhaven. She was so sweet but at times I think this was a detriment. I couldn't wait for her to tell everyone off and live for herself.

The pair reconnect and find a partnership and friendship that help this couple build a stable bond. They were both a little slow in this area but I didn't give up hope. I had faith that they would make it. The ending was sweet and perfect for this couple.

Based on this book were given glimpses of book other books and I'm definitely interested in reading more about the siblings

Fighting Irish is a sweet story with a very low heat level.

Rory and Brittany spent four summers admiring each other from afar. Ten years later, Brittany is on her second marriage and Rory is now running his parents’ camp, the same summer camp that Brittany attended for four summers, and the location Brittany wants for her upcoming nuptials. When they finally come face-to-face and get the opportunity to get to know each other, they both realize there’s something special between them. Something they have to ignore, since Brittany is getting married, after all.

I liked Rory. A lot a lot a lot. He was sweet and gentlemanly, but he still managed to growl when needed. Brittany came from a rich family, but she didn’t judge people for having less than her and she was likable. But I still wasn’t feeling her. She was so desperate to have her own family that she let her fiancé treat her like absolute garbage, all with a smile on her face. She kept harping on how her fiancé would be the perfect father because he’s a pediatrician blah blah blah, but she never bothered to step back and think: ‘dude, I don’t even really like this guy. I only want him for his sperm and because I have this fantasy that we’ll live like we’re on Leave It To Beaver.’ She’s supposed to be this smart, sophisticated woman, but she didn’t even consider that what she was doing was unhealthy and needy. Really, she should’ve just gone to a sperm bank. I’m sure she would’ve been just as happy.

Speaking of Brittany’s fiancé, he. Was. The. Worst. Person. Ever. He wasn’t the hero, but the shit he pulled still really bothered me and I was just waiting for him to get his. But it never happened. No, the guy

Naughty Factor: 2.5/5

Warm and fuzzy insides...that is how every Katy Regnery story leaves me feeling. Feel good romance, caring, kind and swoon worthy characters with a story that just melts you’re heart is what she is BEST at. It doesn’t matter if it’s modern fairy tale romance , a standard contemporary romance or a paranormal romance she has managed to steal my breath with every one of her stories. Fighting Irish is the first in another string of books that I know are going to continue that pattern for me.

Rory Haven is one of the Haven triplets who grew up learning to work their family camp grounds that’s been in the family for years. He loves his family and would never shirk his responsibilities, but deep down he wants to spread his wings and fly. He has big dreams and an even bigger heart, so when responsibility comes calling he sets his dreams and wants aside to do what’s right. The man is honorable to the nth degree and he just makes my heart pitter-patter. Aside from his strong bond with his two siblings and love for his parents, his heart has only felt for one other person. Brittany.

Brittany is beautiful and caring and according to Rory, way out of his league. She’s an heiress who could want for nothing and having been brought up being reminded that his social class was a bit lower and being forbidden to socialize with their campers, he always kept his distance from the one person who always caught his eye.

Little did he know that though Brittany grew up wanting for nothing, in a material sense, she was always missing that one thing everyone wants. Love. For a woman of her status it’s hard to know if it’s you or you’re money someone is interested in and in Brittany ‘s case they’re just all wrong for you to begin with. The poor girl had such bad luck with guys and Rory made all that heartache go away with his gentleness and sweet Gaelic murmurs and nicknames.

It never fails that when I finish a Katy Regnery book that I’m left feeling like I’m floating on air and have stars in my eyes. With her a happy ending isn’t just inevitable, but memorable.

Fighting Irish felt like a gift from Katy Regnery to my giant, sappy, romance hungry heart. From the heartwarming dynamic between the Haven triplets, to the simmering sweet chemistry between Rory and Brittany, this story was like a warm cozy blanket on a snowy afternoon and I never ever wanted to crawl out of it.

This is a relatively short, fast moving story - but it took precise shots at all my romance sweet spots and managed to hit nearly all of them. It's deeply romantic, sweetly sincere, and loaded with those sort of cinematic moments that deliver the butterflies in your belly and the ache in your chest that feels just a little bit like falling in love. I adored the bit of slow burn that led up to Rory and Brittany's relationship. I loved who they were to each other and the way their story unfolded. Any concerns I had about how Ms. Regnery would carry out the premise of this story were resolved pretty early on (and let's be honest, I've read enough Katy Regnery books at this point to know that I can trust her with my heart).

I loved how these characters were written. One thing the author excels at is writing these completely relatable, authentic characters. They're not perfect, but they're perfect enough to completely fall head over heels in love with, and this extends even beyond the romance. I adored the relationship between the triplets - Rory, Tierney, and Ian. There's a feeling of genuine affection, camaraderie, and heaps of good-natured teasing that I completely connected with and so, no surprise here, you can rest assured that I am beyond excited for more of this delightfully flawed little family.

All in all - this story read like a decadent treat and, indeed, that's how it was received in my heart. Cannot recommend this one highly enough, and I - as always - am so excited for more to come! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

Rory Haven used to crush on Brittany Manion when they were children. She was a camper at the summer camp his parents owned. But he never spoke to her. He wasn't allowed to fraternize with the guests and he held fast to that rule.

Brittany Manion couldn't help but notice quiet Rory Haven when they were children. She crushed on him from afar, watching, but never catching his eye. She heard stories about his brother, but never heard anything about the object of her affection.

Finding themselves back at Summerhaven, Rory and Britt dance around each other. They each have other obligations and loyalties, but they can't stay away from one another. What these two don't know is that they are absolutely perfect for each other!

Told in true Katy Regnery fashion, this story weaves the tale of rich girl, working boy and shows them as they've entered adulthood, struggled, and overcome their own personal demons. Each character is lovable and you just want to see more of them.

I am already looking forward to the next two books in this series! These Haven triplets are so fun!

Salve lettrici,

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I've read several of this author's previous books, and have enjoyed them overall, but after the ending of the Blueberry Lane series, I wasn't sure where the author could go from there. Reading this novel illustrated to me that this author is a truly gifted storyteller!

I loved the sweet second chance romance of Rory and Brittany! I thought their journey toward relationship was well paced and believable. I loved how Rory cared for his family and how he wanted to stand on his own with his dreams. I loved how Brittany handled the situation and didn't give him trouble for it either. The story was entertaining and engaging!

I also enjoyed the supporting characters of Rory's family and can't wait to see them showcased in their own books!

Lui aveva sempre guardato all'amore come qualcosa che accadeva e basta: l'amore capita, giusto?

E Rory.

A presto

Katy Regnery delivers a utterly adorable romance that will make your heart melt.

This story was so incredibly sweet and made me feel so warm and snuggly. I loved Rory and Brittany’s story and while the circumstances were definitely not ideal for them I definitely found myself wanting these two together.

It was so easy to fall for Rory he was sweet, caring and one of those guys that you think to yourself oh he’s a keeper.

It was the same for Brittany and even though she comes from a wealthy background she was definitely down to earth and just wanting her happily ever after.
I adored her sweetness and definitely found myself wanting her to get that HEA.

Of course with this being the start of a new series we also get to meet Rory’s siblings and I am definitely interested in reading their books as well.

Definitely enjoyed this book. It’s a sweet romance of when a boy meets a girl.

💜Another triumphant 5+ star romance from Katy Regnery. I couldn’t put it down - in fact, I gobbled it down practically in one sitting.

The Fighting Irish is the first release in her brand new series The Summerhaven Trio. The unassailable and unwavering connection shared in the past between Rory and Britt - though only felt from a distance - even after 10 years was ever present and captivating right through to the end. Though they both struggled to overcome their inner insecurities and uncertainties, the love they ultimately find together left my heart swooning and a smile on my face.

Ms. Regnery consistently creates such sweet and magical stories. With the worlds she envisions coupled with her amazing characters, she continues to make my heart flutter as I fall in love with her characters over and over again. She is unquestionably one of the most gifted and creative storytellers of today. And she always leaves me longing for more. I can’t wait for books 2 and 3.

Thank you to the author for the book in exchange for an honest review.

I am so happy to be back in a world created by Katy Regnery. She paints such beautiful pictures with her words. When she announced this series, I knew I'd want to read it. It was a no-brainer, but I didn't read the blurbs for any of the books and I still haven't. I want to discover each character as I read.

I got the book yesterday afternoon, I had things to complete before I could dive in but as soon as I could I dove in and I loved every single minute I read.

Rory Haven has grown up at Summerhaven Camp, its been in his family for generations. He's a rule follower so when he was told no fraternization with the campers he just stayed on the outskirts of the camp. Doing his job and following the rules didn't mean the didn't notice Brittany Manion the four years she was at camp. She was the picture of the perfect girl for him. Even though he wanted to talk to her, touch her, kiss her and just, in general, get to know her he knew that he couldn't. She was out of his league. Now she's back in his life, but as a prospective bride to get married at Summerhaven.

Brittany finally got her fiancé to set a date for their wedding. He told her to plan it and so she started. She found that Summerhaven now did something other than just being a camp for youth. She set up a meeting and drove up to see the camp and meet with Mr. Haven. Little did she know that 6 years ago Mrs. Haven had a stroke and now Rory was running Summerhaven. Rory, her crush from all those years ago. He had grown even more handsome in those years too. Summerhaven was perfect for the wedding so she sent a deposit. Her fiancé wasn't too happy that it was two hours away, that she didn't understand that his ex would still be apart of his life (he has two children) and why was she pushing and nagging him.

Poor Brittany had bad luck with men. So instead of staying in her apartment to lick her wounds, she decides that a getaway is what she needs but she doesn't want to go to her mother in Italy or anywhere else, Summerhaven sounds like the haven she needs. Spending more time with Rory is good for her soul. He treats her like she's gold and could care one flip that she was a hotel heiress. The more time they spend together the closer they become.

These two were just two halves of a whole. You could tell from the first time they were reintroduced to each other. They just were easy together. She just fit into his life, not that he wouldn't have given up everything to live with her in hers. I can't say enough sweet and good things about these two. I loved the way they effortlessly loved and cared for the other and the things going on in their lives. Please give this new series a read and let the author know what you think of it! Reviews are your way of showing you care!
