Samantha Callahan fights hard to succeed in a man’s world. At the top of her game with a promotion nearly in her grasp, nothing can stand in her way, not even greedy competitors or a crashed laptop. So, an overdue and well-deserved vacation to the beach with the girls shouldn’t put her on edge. But perhaps Sam’s head has been down in the trenches for so long, she’s forgotten how to enjoy life.

Chase Bradshaw is the classic hottie next door—a nice man who happens to surf as well as he sizzles in the bedroom. He ditched corporate America for the stress-free salt life, and to follow his dreams. When Sam walks onto his beach, he can practically see the uptight personality oozing from her pores. The woman looks like she could use something other than work to keep her up at night.

Lucky for her, Chase is just the man to coax the conservative right out of her.

Sam is forced into a week of vacation by her friends Liddy and Jordan.  Sam is known for her all work and no play attitude and her friends thinks  it is time for an intervention.  What better way to loosen up their friend than a forced beach vacation.

Chase is a surfer boy at heart.  Living life to the fullest as an early retiree.  Out for a surf one day he runs into a group of girls on vacation.  He is automatically drawn the blonde bombshell who looks wound up tight.  The Corporate America look.  He will have her.  She just doesn't know it yet.

This book was the perfect start to a new series.  It really sets the tone for more great books.  This was not just your typical romance novel.  Don't get me wrong.  It is hot!!!  But at the same time it had a deep and meaningful story.  I cried a bit.  Yep!  I admit it!  I could not stop it.  This book moved me.  I was able to relate to the subject matter on a deep level, touching my heart.

Now let's talk heat!  This book was hot!!!  The main characters attraction and chemistry burned up the pages.  Wow!  I had to take a cold shower after reading this book.  The lighthouse scene was romantic and amazing.  There are no cheesy sex scenes in this book.  No way!  They all felt real.  Especially the lighthouse scene where she says "This metal desk is freezing." That Sam is a bit of an adventurer once her hair comes down.  ;)  I think Chase brought it out in her.  These two had a deep connection.  If you know what I mean.

Overall this book is amazing.  A true romance.  I loved everything about this book.  The characters, the story line and the hot as sin sex.  This book is highly entertaining and full of fun.  I can't wait till the next one comes out and see what our friends get up to next.  If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.  ;)  So what are you waiting for?  Go get your copy today.  You won't regret it.

Dry Spell was a pleasant surprise for me. Usually I try to go into a book feeling neutral however I was a little concerned when I realized this book was listed as only being 187 pages. I worried that since there wasn't a lot of time work through a story line everything would feel rushed. Once I started reading I grew even more concerned after seeing that the story was told in third person POV. I'll be the first to admit sometimes I find it hard for me to get into stories told in third person and I really don't like it in romance novels. As you can see from my rating none of those things were an issue when it came to this story.

The POV did take me a little time to adjust to but what I love was that it didn't keep me from connecting with the characters. I acknowledge that this story took place over a short amount of time, and there were moments I felt the main characters were moving fast, but I never questioned their feelings for each other. The authors made me believe anything is possible with the right person. One of my favorite parts about Chase and Sam's relationship was that they were able to have an emotional connection in between the steamy bits. Those moments helped make me feel like their feelings were more than surface level. I also really loved Sam's friends and the relationship between them.

I've never read anything by Mia London or Susan Sheehey so I have no personal experience with their writing. In this story they managed to come together and blend their writing seamlessly. With less than 200 pages they we're able to make me fall in love with the characters and experience each emotion right along with them. Without a doubt I will be continuing the series. I definitely recommend supporting Mia and Susan by picking up Dry Spell!

This book features Samantha our career-driven, workaholic who is whisked away by her BFF for a forced beach vacation from work. Samantha isn’t kidnapped. She acquiesces. On vaca she meets Chase, the surfer dude who’s actually wealthy from a previous career in real estate. His high moral compass directs him to do something charitable with his life, which turns out to be building an autism center. He was a sexy, kind character, no doubt, but I wished for a bit more damage or baggage to give him more dimensions. The authors know how to steam up the pages, which was enjoyable. No question on the physical connection between the characters.

I hate to admit it, but I had a hard time getting into this book, which I think is because the pacing felt off. There was buildup from a destroyed computer in the first chapter that got dropped. Somehow Samantha made her presentation without problem, but the incident was taking the story one way only to feel shunted in another direction. There were other instances like this in the book. However, overall it’s a cute, fast read.

She is hard working and driven. She will have her next promotion soon but a holiday is needed first. She goes with some friends. He left the business world behind so he could live stress free. He sees her and he knows what she truly needs. Will he have her? Will she get the promotion? Will they fall for each other? See how it will go

Dry Spell is book one in the new series Sweet Escape. This book is written well and the premise was great. I had a hard time because the book is slow for me. I did like it though it took me a couple tries to get into it. Once I did the flow was a bit better.

You have workaholic Samantha “Sam” Callahan that doesn’t l know how to stop trying to succeed. It’s not a bad thing. She is in the running for a promotion and she wants it. She just doesn't let loose. She is strong and smart and has a great business sense.

Chase Bradshaw is the ultimate surfer boy at heart. He’s smart, handsome, and fine in a wetsuit and on a surfboard. He also moonlights as a bartender at his buddies bar. He lives life to the fullest and he adores his family. At the same time, Chase is not all that he seems and I really loved him as a person. HUge heart and gorgeous smile.

Sams friends talk her into leaving work behind for a week for a girls week for the Fourth of July. They rent a beach house next door to the surfer. Sparks fly immediately, though I did not feel their connection. Chase felt it for her. Sam doesn't see herself for the beautiful woman she is. She is competing in man's world. Chase is so cared free. He breaks down her walls and helps her live. She sees him surfing and eyes him and thinks he is cute but she feels as a person that Chase would be attracted to she falls short

It moves fairly slow in time. It takes place over a week and the pace is what was just a bit slow for me. There were times I was not a huge fan of Sam’s friends even though they meant well. I wanted more shock and a tad more drama. I saw what was coming and I like to be surprised so that was slightly disappointing.

Now, I won't let this discourage me. The book wasn't bad, just not what I was thinking it would be. I do want to read the next book in the series and see what happens next. Maybe I will get a little bit more of Chase and Sam because as I said I loved Sam.

This is a great book. It has a wonderful storyline about three friends going on vacation to the ocean. They meet some guys and there’s lots of fun, sexual chemistry, sparks flying everywhere, of course drama, a few misunderstandings, and walks along the beach.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.

I’ve read two of Mia London’s previous books and loved them so couldn’t resist jumping into this story.

Samantha (Sam) is a strong work orientated woman. She has worked hard to get where she is in a mans world. Her friends know she’s working too hard so took her to the beach for a well deserved holiday.

On holiday she meets Chase. He has worked hard and is now spending his time surfing. He wants to do good so he wants to build a centre for people with Autism.

These two are so hot together. This is a great read and I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Her Surfer Boy, His Goddess

This is a first for me of a Mia London book, but this perfect joint read with the author Susan Sheehey you can’t go wrong! This superb read has intense, passionate firecracker kisses on this vacation fling.
Samantha Callahan is work obsessed and driven with her one objective in her career to make Director, but will it make her happy? Her besties want her to lighten up so book a vacation in Santa Cruz! Where she meets Chase Bradshaw who finds her standoffish but makes it his goal to show her the fun in life. But Sam has so many insecurities and constantly pushes him away. But Chase loves a challenge and is very patient! Was it a vacation fling for Sam? Because there intense connection is certainly palpable! Is Sam willing to give up her life goals as she is running scared with her feelings for Chase? Will her dreams completely collapse and will she regret her perfect vacation? Chases’s Sister Reese who has ASD with her pitch at the meeting broke my heart it brought tears to my eyes and so much joy in what she had achieved. Will Chase achieve his promise to his mother that he would have the ASD Centre built for his beautiful sister? I highly recommend this book to all romance readers.
I am volunteering to leave an honest review for a copy of this book.

I always enjoy reading books by this author, you can always guarantee good hot steamy story that i know we all love. Well Mia has done it again with this steamy one. I also find her books well written and flow nicely. The characters Sam and Chase seem destined to meet although Sam takes some convincing that she should let her hair down i highly recommend this book especially if you like an HEA. I was given this book to read for an honest and unbiased review.

Sweet Escape series Escape differently but sweet this books is Hot and sexy and I loved every word. Mia London always gives us a great story we can fall in love with and this one is no different even with her co-writing with Susan Sheehey. I have never read anything by Susan Sheehey but the two have done a great job with this book with interesting characters and a story to entertain the reader to which they can escape for a few hours of their day. This is a short novella that will keep you clicking the pages over to see where this story may take us. I was given an ARC copy of this book to which I have written my honest and voluntary review. This just books one of the Sweet Escape series and I cannot wait to read more.

Samantha Callahan is a career-driven, a workaholic in a man’s world and her friends have had enough of it. With the Independence Day long weekend coming up her two friends Jorden and Liddy force her away for a week at the beach near Santa Cruz in a beachfront house. At first, Sam finds it very hard to relax and enjoy her time away with her head still at work her friends do their best to enjoy life.

Chase Bradshaw is the typically sexy surfer boy next door type when you first meet him but there is a lot more to this man. Chase left the high pace corporate world for the stress-free life and is working on building a centre for people on the Autism spectrum to improve their lives. He is very happy when he learns that there are three ladies staying in the rented house next to him, not the usual renters that stay here. Chase is instantly attracted to Sam to which he has her summed up in just a few minutes as an uptight corporate workaholic who finds it hard to let go and have fun.

Chase is a patient man that would do his best to make sure Sam had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed her time at the beach as well as his time together. Help her learn that there is more to life than work.

5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

I loved every single second of Dry Spell. I hate to say it, but I've never had the pleasure of reading any books by either author, but I promise I will now. Dry Spell kept me entertained and wanting more.

Chase has everything he could want. He's no longer in a job he doesn't love. He has an amazing house, the surf, and the hottie next door for the week. Chase has dreams, but sometimes what we think is a good idea has others thinking differently. I loved every minute of Chase. His character was fun, entertaining, and so gracious. I loved his kindness. I love that in Chase's case first impressions aren't what they seem.

Sam...girlfriend is wound so tight, she almost doesn't know how to relax or get out of her head. I get it. I loved when Sam finally allowed herself to relax. It was get to see her have some fun. I loved everything about Sam though.

I loved this story and everything it stands for. I love the secondary characters as well. It's great to have good friends who help you get out of your own head. This story is great and I can't want to see what's to come from these authors.

Dry Spell is book number on of the Sweet Escape series by Mia London and Susan Sheehey. This is Samantha Callahan and Chase Bradshaw's story.

Samantha and Chase's characters were great. She is very serious and is all about work. Samantha's friends talk her into a beach vacation hoping that Samantha will relax and be more like she used to be. Chase and Samantha when she is on vacation. The attraction between them is off the charts. Will Samantha let her guard down and give Chase a chance? Chase appears to be this guy that isn't very ambiguous. There is more to Chase than you realize.

This was a fun, heartwarming, emotional, and steamy romance. The supporting characters added to the story too and I look forward to the next books in this series.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A SMOLDERING romance that was both relaxing and sexy...everything I desired in the moment I needed it! Oh how I do love a good romance that has LOOOOOTS of heat and seduction. The kind that features a almost uptight heroine and a sexy, charming hero that shows her what its like to enjoy life and fall in love while doing it.

Samantha and Chase were FANTASTIC characters. Their personalities seemed different but it just added to the amazing chemistry they had brewing between them. This romance was sultry and sexy and had me relaxed, happy and left me in a almost blissed out state, like I just got back from vacation. It was such a nice feeling that I honestly want it again! What a perfect beach read!

Dry Spell gets a SULTRY FIVE SEXY STARS!

This is book one of the Sweet Escape series and it features Samantha and Chase. To have a gorgeous, uber sexy man that was so attracted to you that he didn’t give your beautiful friends a second look, is exhilarating. He really had to work hard to break through that Wall Street, “all work and no play” mentality she had. I understand why she was upset with him but her overreaction was so ridiculous it was almost comical.

I love that their very steamy romance stood in the forefront for most of the story. Jordan was hilarious and I’m curious as to Ava’s need to see David towards the end. I can’t wait for next book in this fabulous series.

Dry Spell is a short and sweet contemporary romance about a woman named Samantha. She spends all her time working in a male dominated environment trying to prove that she can do it just as well as the boys. Cue the best friends who decide she needs a vacation and whisk her away to a beach house where she a townie catches her eye. The rest is pretty much history.

Sam was a cool character. I enjoyed reading about her and her struggles trying her best to get ahead. It was nice watching her go from to uptight and wound up from her job to someone more chilled and relax.

I liked Chase for the most part. His back story about the autism center and doing everything he could to make the world around him a better place for people like his sister was inspiring.

Sam’s best friends were easily my favourite part of the book. Every time Jordan made a dirty joke that totally spoke to my soul and made me laugh out loud. I’m very much looking forward to reading the book in the Sweet Escape series about her.

Mia London and Susan Sheehey are both good writers. Even though the book was short, they writing was so good it felt like I was able to fly through it.

The plot was good. Both Chase and Samantha each had their own personal issues in their work to deal with and the romance between them was cute but also incredibly steamy.

My one issue with this book was the pacing. I’ve never been a huge fan of insta-love and this was exactly that on the highest level you could possibly imagine. Blink your eyes, and Chase is in love.

Overall, Dry Spell was a decent read. It’s a super short summer read that you could read in a day by the beach. It goes by quick and it’s pretty enjoyable. I would highly recommend this as a vacation read.

Dry Spell is a fun steamy read, perfect for the beach. The team of London & Sheehey do a great job making this vacation-fling-turn-love story believable with great lead characters and fun-loving supporting friends. For a quick read the story is surprisingly in depth. I loved it and can't wait for this new writing duo's next adventure in the Sweet Escape series.

Samantha is a driven, ambitious woman. She is almost at Director level and refuses to let her sleazy colleague pip her to the post! But her friends are worried that all she does is work. So they have dragged her off for a week of sunshine, surf and sand. If they can bag her a hottie too...well that'll be the icing on the cake!

Chase may look like a typical beach bum but he made his money in property development and know wants to do something worthwhile, build a centre for people on the Autism spectrum. His sister would never have coped with life without the help his family was able to source for her and he is determined that more people should have access to those kind of resources. But when he meets the renters next door, including Sam, he feels an instant and intense attraction to her. He is determined to get her to loosen up. He just never expects for her to become the most important person in his life in such a short time.

OMG these two scorch the pages! Surf boy knows just how to loosen up Sam. My favourite scene involved a lighthouse and a clandestine encounter...OMG I needed a cold shower afterwards! I loved that Sam didn't take the slights handed to her sitting down but she was so blinkered towards her career she almost misses out on love. Similarly Chase just assumes Sam will fall in with his plans, they both need to learn to compromise! Brilliant read!!!

Can't wait to see what is store for the other girls!

Great story about a woman, Samantha, who is trying to prove herself at her job and get a promotion. She finishes her big project that will gain her the promotion that she's dying for. When her bff's take her away for a week, she finally tries to let her hair down and enjoy herself somewhat, when she meets the surfer boy neighbor,Chase, he gets her to let her hair down!
Follow their story in this book, I enjoyed it, I think you will too. 4 1/2 stars for this one!

Great vacation romance tale

Santa Cruz was a dream come true and the “surfer dude” next door only had eyes for Samantha. Can a vacation lead to the end of a dry spell? Yes, absolutely yes.

Loved the premise and the skillful unfolding of this sexy romance whose heroine, Samantha, is an uptight curvy woman whose only focus is to succeed in a ‘man’s corporate world.’
She reluctantly goes on a week’s vacation at a beach house with her two close friends. There’s sexy ‘surfer-boy’ next door who turns out to be so much more than the usual type of male Sam’s attracted to. Chase’s warm, fun-loving personality includes altruistic mission to build an ASD center because of his little sister’s struggle growing up on the spectrum. The authors show how Chase’s patience and caring, not to mention hot lovemaking 😉, open Sam’s heart and change her life.
Highly recommended !❤️

What do you do when you're forced into a holiday by your best friends ???
This is the first book of 3

Samantha has been shanghied by her friends into a week long holiday by her girls Liddy and Jordan. Samantha is known for been a hard worker and nothing else, but all work and no play makes for a dull life so her friends think it's time to step in. So what a fabulous way i sthere thn a week on the beach. Wish I had friends like that.

Chase is the handsome surfer boy. Living life to the fullest as an early retiree. Out for a surf one day he runs into a group of girls on vacation. His attention is completely snagged by the blonde bombshell he recognises himself in her.
This was a great start to a new series. It ha set the groundwork for more books to follow. This for me isn't a typical romance. It comes with a deep and meaningul message I suppose.
This book was hot!!! Samantha's and Chases attraction and chemistry sizzles through out. The lighthouse scene for me is particularly memorable. There are no ucomfortable scenes in this book. As of late some of the more dirtier romance books have become nothing more than porn scripts, that's not my idea of romance don't get me wrong I love em' hot but to muchhot can actually ruin the story. All in all a good read and its only 99p so not expensive. A perfect Sunday afternoon read, Now lets see what the next
books are going to bring us.
