The History of Wales

Rate this book
In this new edition of the best selling Pocket Guide: The History of Wales, J. Graham Jones has revised and expanded his text to include the 1990s. This illustrated volume succeeds in being both concise and comprehensive in its survey of Welsh history. Beginning with the Stone Age cave-dwellers who were the country's earliest inhabitants, it describes Celtic settlement, Roman and Norman invasion, the conquest by Edward I of England, the passage of the Acts of Union, the impact of religious change, of the Agrarian and Industrial Revolutions and of two world wars. It ends with a graphic account of the political, social and economic changes of the twentieth century.

This book is good if you want an extremely brief overview of Welsh history. I would recommend it for readers who have a generic curiosity about Welsh history. However, for those with a deeper interest in Welsh history, it is extremely lacking.
