Unscripted Love

Rate this book
Kyle Vaughn had three goals in life: become a vet, find the man of his dreams, and start a family. He easily checked off the first item on the list when he took over his grandfather's veterinary practice. Too bad he wasn't as lucky in love.

Chaz Hamilton took a leap of faith when he decided to pursue a career in writing, but one best seller didn't mean he could quit his day job. All work and no play threatened to make Chaz a very dull man when the only romantic action he saw was in the pages of his manuscript. Too bad he couldn't write his own happily every after.

Circumstances pushed the two men together, and one magical kiss beneath fireworks and stars changed everything. Kyle knew his luck had finally turned around and Chaz found a man far better than any book boyfriend ever written. There was just one problem. Chaz has kept a secret from Kyle that could ruin their chance at a beautiful life together.

Kyle and Chaz learn that the best-laid plans often go awry, the heart has a mind of its own, and the greatest love is unscripted. Contains mature themes.

You know when you read a romance and one of them has a "big secret" that will ruin everything (supposedly) and you just want to wring their neck and tell them to stop being a little bitch and tell the stupid secret already?
This is that.
Still, I really liked the non-secret-holding guy.

Unscripted Love chronicles the romance of Kyle Vaughn, a small-town vet, and Chaz Hamilton, a salon receptionist and secretly successful romance author.

It should first be understood (by those who may not already know) that Chaz and Kyle are characters who have already been around the block a time or two, both heavily featuring in Walker’s Curl Up & Dye Mysteries series, where they play supporting characters to leads Josh and Gabe. Although, for all intents and purposes, Unscripted Love is meant to be a standalone-type spin-off series starter, so very much of what happens here overlaps/runs parallel with events from both Dyed and Gone to Heaven (book #3) and I Do, or Dye Trying (book #4) of the Curl Up & Dye series. I’d go as far as to say I can’t imagine this would read too well without having read the other series first, regardless of the new character POV’s and the constant recapping of things that have already happened—it’s all in the execution and telling of the story, with a sense that the reader is already expected to know so much of the backstory.

Now, having said that, this story actually worked well for me. As a big fan of the prior series, I personally loved the fact that we got to go back and experience key moments and scenes from stories I thought I already knew well. Getting Chaz and Kyle’s perspectives of some of the exciting, funny and/or tender moments from those other books was a very welcomed experience to me, especially when you mixed in all the new moments Chaz and Kyle shared together, which I’d been positively desperate for leading up to now. I simply enjoy seeing scenes from a different angle, learning things we perhaps weren’t privy to the first time around. Honestly, I thrive on that kind of thing, so this brand of storytelling very much worked for me personally, where perhaps it didn’t/won’t work for other readers.

My only real niggle of the story lies in the fact that it relied fairly heavily on a miscommunication/deception plot, with Chaz keeping a big secret from Kyle well into the story. Where I would usually be very annoyed or frustrated by this kind of thing in a book I’m reading, I, blessedly, wasn’t too bothered by Chaz’s secrets/lack of communication here. I understood why he was worried about the repercussions of his earlier, deceitful (but non-nefarious) actions. And it certainly helped that when the truth did come out (around the 60% mark), Kyle reacted like a mature adult and they, as a couple, actually talked through it all, instead of having some big blow-up that could have dragged the drama out like so many romance plots tend to do. I appreciated this, a lot.

For the most part, I was happy with how Chaz and Kyle’s story played out. I was fully engaged and zooming through the story at a breakneck speed, probably spurred on by the fact I already knew the basics of how big events would play out in their (roughly) year-long courtship. It was fun, sexy and fast-paced, and I can’t seem to help but adore these Blissville characters, leaving me craving for more at every opportunity.

I was sad to leave Josh and Gabe behind so I was pleased to learn there would be a spin-off series. It's just unfortunate that I didn't enjoy this as much as I had hoped.

Chaz was annoying all throughout the book. I just didn't get what the big deal was about revealing his secret. I didn't think the big reveal garnered all the drama he was making it out to be. The book is surrounded by all this unnecessary drama and I just couldn't find myself to care. There wasn't much more happening. The story didn't have enough substance for me. I needed more to be going on and unfortunately there wasn't and that in itself made the book fall flat for me. I hate that it turned out this way, but I guess this author is going to end up being either a hit or miss for me.

What I did like was the family dynamic. I liked both men's family and there meddling ways. They were a nice addition to the story.

I don't know why I had so many issues with Chaz when I liked him in the previous series. Kyle was likable throughout. I don't know how he managed to continue wanting Chaz with how flighty he was. But I give him kudos for holding on to the hope.

I think in the end I set myself up to be disappointed because I had high expectations by the end of the Curl Up and Dye series considering how much I ended up loving them it the end. Plus it had more going on in that series with all the killings and mysteries surrounding the couple.

Seeing all the high ratings and rave reviews I think I am going to be very alone in this boat of meh. lol

Happy reading dolls!

**** First let me tell you I ADORED Aimee Nicole Walker's Curl Up and Dye series with the sassy, quirky characters and escapades.
*** Here we have Chaz, 28,

Josh/Jazz's receptionist/book writer and his lust for the

hot Veterinarian, Dr. Kyle Vaugn, 36, alias, Dr. Dimples.

Chaz has a hairless cat named Harry,

who needs the vet. During that visit, Kyle gets an eyelash from the corner of Chaz's eye. Hmmmmm.

Chaz has a secret that he is keeping from Kyle, but Kyle is unaware, so he flirts and pursues Chaz. The kiss during the fireworks is sparkling and smokin'.

Chaz keeps hesitating to tell his secret, but Kyle does find out about the hidden talent; Chaz being an author of a bestselling novel. Lots is happening all around the couple. We have wedding plans for Gabe and Josh, Chaz's meddling, nosey Gran, Mom, and Aunt, the break in at the clinics, and more.

There are parties, dinners, and holidays, all bringing fun to the story. Kyle, Dr. Dimples, also poses for a calendar with pets, and decides to adopt a dog and kitten, Sadie and Otis. So cute.

This gathering of friends/characters is more of a family,
and are very entertaining and full of life.

Our men get their sexy times,

and both men are rocked by the deepness of emotions they experience. They have internal dialogues about their past and present.

This is a beautifully written, smooth flowing story that will hold your attention, and not let go.
I highly recommend this amazing tale ! ENJOY !

*sigh* It was so nice to be back in Blissville. I missed my boys!

It was so nice being able to revisit the town of Blissville again. I fell in love with the community and it's inhabitants through Josh and Gabe's story in the Curl Up and Dye series and I was salivating at the thought of getting to read about Chaz and Kyle so I gleefully pounced on this book when it was offered up for review.

In some ways, it was everything I could hope for, and more. We were given hints about a possible relationship between the two in the previous series that intrigued me greatly. Who wouldn't want to read about Dr. Dimples and the quirky sidekick who moonlights as a secret romance novelist? We could see the attraction between them plain as day and the sexual tension was through the roof.

Kyle a/k/a Dr. Dimples, the sexy veterinarian who just so happens to be Gabe's ex, is probably the most eligible bachelor in Blissville. He's gorgeous, kind, intelligent and loving. He's pretty much the embodiment of male perfection.

He and Chaz have been circling around each other for quite a while now. They finally come together under the fireworks display but then Chaz runs. You see, Chaz has been keeping a secret from Kyle, a bit of deception that started innocently enough, but, as time goes by, the guilt starts eating at Chaz until he can't see how any relationship with Kyle will ever flourish. It takes him a long time to screw up the courage to tell Kyle the truth and by the time he does reveal the secret to Kyle, it may be too late to salvage even a friendship, let alone love.

I liked Kyle and Chaz together and I liked reading their story, but I didn't love it. It didn't have the pizazz of Josh and Gabe's epic romance and, when compared to their predecessors, came across as a bit bland. There were parts that stood out, such as Chaz's favorite movie being The Goonies (my favorite too) and Kyle's penchant for honesty and communication (which, I love) but for the most part I was kinda meh. I found myself looking forward to when Josh was around as he livened up the story. I think a large part of this was due to the fact that a good portion of the first half of the book was a retelling of the Curl Up and Dye series from Chaz and Kyle's perspectives. While doing so makes this book easier to read as a standalone, it comes off a bit dry and redundant if you've read the other series.

In all honesty, my favorite part of the book was the ending, where we got Josh and Gabe's point of views again. I'm still glad I read this though. I do like these characters and I love this town so I am eager to read the next book in the series. It was a good comfort read that's light on the angst and a nice way to spend your Sunday afternoon.

Hmm.. I think I had too high expectations for this one... And I can't for the life of me understand why. I mean books in the Curl Up and Dye series were ok and nothing really spectacular or to rave about. So why I thought this one would be different I don't know. But still I was looking forward to reading about Chaz and Kyle.

But it was different, a lot different. Unscripted Love lacked the sense of place and the friendships that were so prominent in the Curl Up and Dye and the overall feeling you get when reading is that it is lacking. That becomes even more evident when you read the bonus chapters for Josh and Gabe included at the end. They have an entirely different feel to them and I enjoyed them far more than the rest of the book.

This book is set during the same timeline as the Curl Up and Dye books and a lot of the things happening around Chaz and Kyle are familiar. I had a lot of issues (unfortunately) with this book. My first issue was, the first two chapters were unnecessary, they could've been done better in another way, perhaps by having them thinking back to the beginning, but as it is now, it's just messy and frankly redundant. If you read the previous books you know this already and these chapters just felt like a clinical review of past events. If you haven't read them I'd imagine the first two chapters only confuses you with information you don't need.

Another thing that bothered me was Chaz's "secret". I mean it was blown way, way our of proportion and dragged out for too long. I don't mind the plot idea as such, but the kept secret needs to be worthwhile. But this didn't work for me.. at all. Chaz was getting on my nerves and frankly I wondered if he'd had a personality transplant. Where was the fun, quirky guy we all fell in love with? In this book he just comes across like a humongous jerk. To the point where I was wishing for Kyle to find someone else, someone that would treat him right, cause Chaz sure didn't.

And what's almost worse was Kyle making up excuses for Chaz's horrible behaviour. Forgiving him time and again, taking him back, basically no questions asked. I can see him doing it once - but it's never ending! Please stand up for yourself!!!

I'm hoping that Emory and Jonathon's story will be better when (if) that is published. If not I think I'll just stick to Josh and Gabe - at least I get my fill of Savage and Sassy.

I really enjoyed this book and was glad to finally get some Kyle & Chaz time. These two bumbled around for so long ! Finally they opened up and worked it out. This was a sweet read, pretty low on angst with a few humorous moments. While I liked lots about this book, for me the ending felt sudden and rushed and that was my only disappointment as this should have been a bigger moment. I understand there was a separate section for Josh & Gabe at the end as some bonus chapters and I totally get the teaser for Emory & Silver but I felt like Kyle & Chaz got a bit ripped off. However in saying this - I really enjoyed this spin off and look forward to the next ... I sure would love a Dare & Wren combination !!!!

Just about every page is stick sweet. All hallmarks of the perfect book boyfriend. With a background plot centered around some break ins that happened in the community. So, yes read Curl up and Dye or someone might have a reading list that integrates all Blissville books.

I did enjoy this story; it just felt a little flat to me in places. These two characters appeared in another series by Aimee Nicole Walker and with this being the first book in a new series with the same two characters, we had a lot of rehashes of almost everything we had read in the previous book that involved these two. It was a little...well, a lot... tedious. Since I have no suggestion as to how the author could have pleased old readers and new readers, and still introduced the two characters any other way...I didn't let it lose any rating stars. One thing I liked about this series...yes, Surprise...I read them out of order... was that they are true romance story with very low angst. There were plenty of funny moments, some great sex scenes and a story with two characters that were very sweet. I wish the "secret" had been revealed a lot sooner, and that it wouldn't have then ended up being such a nonissue. I loved Mere, Josh, Gabe and the birds. I also enjoyed the brief appearance of Agnes, from Chasing Mr. Wright from the Fated Hearts series. I'm running out of Aimee Nicole Walker books that I haven't read so I need her to write faster, please.

DNF. Which is funny 'cause I gave up at 80%. There was a lot of skimming involved, and I was bored a lot. Kyle's dialogues didn't sound like someone pushing 40, he seemed a bit juvenile for his age. I didn't find their story as captivating

Dual first person POV from Kyle and Chaz with two bonus chapters at the end from Josh and Gabe's POV. Recommended for those who like super fluffy and sweet, and don't mind having to work through some miscommunication to get there.

This book Unscripted Love, is the first book in the Road to Blissville series. This book comes as a Spin-off in the Curl up and Dye Mystery series universe by Aimee Nicole Walker. Now, while it’s not really necessary to read that series first and still follow along with this book, I do think it’s a really good idea to read and/or listen to at least the first several books of that series if you have the chance, in order to get the full effect and backstory for this book. There are several characters you will meet in this book that are the main and/or supporting characters in the other series and it follows along with the same group of friends.

Chaz is the outgoing receptionist for the Curl Up and Dye salon, and is also a “closet” author. Kyle better known as “Dr. Dimples” is a veterinarian and gamer who has been enamored with Chaz since the first time they met. After a few years of dancing around each other and not finding the right moment in time to make an actual connection they finally get their chance together in this book.

Chaz’s character was fun to read and hear about, especially when he was a minor character in the Curl Up and Dye series. But I really liked and connected with Kyle’s character a lot more in this one. I am fully #TeamDrDimples in this book. Kyle is just a more likable person in general. He really didn’t deserve to put up with and deal with all the excuses and running Chaz does before they actually get together. Chaz kind of treats him horribly for a good part of this book and you can’t help but feel some sympathy for Kyle. I thought the lack of communication on Chaz’s side, and that he was unwilling to fess up to the secret of what he was hiding from Kyle was a bit unnecessary and was a little too drawn out for me personally, but it keeps you invested in the drama of this story. You want to know why it was so hard for Chaz to talk about the secret with Kyle, and you want to know why Chaz did what he did, and you need to know what Kyle’s reaction and his response is. The conclusion to the secret was a little anti-climactic and disappointing for all of that lead-up and mystery behind it, but I think Kyle reacted pretty well to the entire situation all things considered. Once the two of them get past all of that and get together the story gets a whole lot better. These two characters are really cute together as a couple. I really liked and appreciated all of the friends and family dynamic that is included in this book as well.

There were a few things that confused me a little bit in this book though. Some were cleared up, as for the others, I’m not quite sure whether I just missed some things from not reading more of the books in the previous Curl up and Dye series or if we will get the conclusion to my questions in the next few books coming up in this series. Emory’s appearance in the middle of the book and his background and statements didn’t really make a lot of sense to me. I’m not quite sure who he really is or where he came from? But as a person who didn't finish the Curl Up an Dye series books yet, I feel like he was just thrown in to lead us up into his book which comes next in the series, maybe?

Audio – I absolutely love Joel Leslie as a narrator. I have really enjoyed every one of the books I’ve heard from him so far and will continue to purchase any book I see that has his name on it as a narrator. However, I wasn’t really thoroughly impressed by the narration for this book like I normally am. But, I don’t really think it was the narration in general, he has a very wide range and tone for his character voices. I think maybe it was my feelings for the storyline and plot of the book itself. It was a little harder to follow at times, maybe because there are so many supporting characters in the group of friends and family and the POV kept switching back and forth, that I couldn’t always tell who was speaking at the time until they actually said something to point out who it was. But I would like to know what happens next in this series and I will be purchasing and listening to the next books in order to find out.

AHH IT'S CHAZ AND KYLE'S BOOK! I've been so excited to read this, and it did not disappoint. There's a bit of recapping what we've already seen in the Curl Up & Dye Series at the beginning (a little to much tbh) but it picks up after that. I loved revisiting this world. Kyle and Chaz are so perfect for each other, but it takes some work to get there. I wish Chaz had come clean a little earlier, but it wasn't too bad. I appreciate that he's not left off the hook by anyone, himself included. I enjoyed learning more about them both. Especially Kyle. Loved meeting their families. I can't wait for more. I still am dying for Emory/Jonathan's book(which is only like a week away at this point!), and a couple of new(ish) characters are intro'd here that have potential.

2★'s = it was ok.

Bummer. I totally loved the Curl up and Dye Mysteries Series and truly couldn't wait for this spin-off. It just wasn't a winner for me. I couldn't get into it and it took me forever to read! Mostly because I didn't seem that interested in reading it. Ugh.

As much as I couldn't wait to get Chaz's story I ended up not liking him very much in this book. He was not nice really. His behavior made no sense to me. And Dr. Dimples came across as a doormat. You are a successful Dr. dude.

Anyway.

More than anything though this book felt like a retelling of the original series from two different POV's. I don't think it stopped being a retelling until like 60 or so %. I didn't need a retelling of Josh and Gabe's story, even though I love them... I needed Chaz and Kyle's story.

So, this was a huge disappointment to me. Hopefully the next book won't be a play by play of past events.

As fluffy as cotton candy.
Random thought... Chaz was Ross with the leather pants for Halloween and Kyle was Chandler before he removed his nubbin. Great choices, but I would have loved it if they were my favorite couple from friends, Joey and Chandler. Ross and Rachel are so overrated.

Sweet, easy read with a great bonus at the end, and another Fated Hearts crossover! There wasn't much of a plot for this story, and I think the only way to appreciate it is to have read all of Gabe and Josh's stories. I did, including the Fated Hearts series, minus #7, so this was a relaxing, safe story. &It's always nice to get little updates on the lives of character you love.

I don’t know about others, but starting a series which includes multiple books is as exciting as it is daunting. I have so many titles on my to-be-read list as is, that a full series inevitably gets pushed a bit further down. That’s been the case for the Curl Up and Dye Mysteries series. When I saw Miss Walker was beginning a new series, I was excited to get the chance to read from the start. While Unscripted Love is the start of a brand new series, it builds off the Curl Up and Dye Mysteries and features Chaz and Kyle, characters who previously played supporting roles. There is substantial overlap of characters and story lines which fans of this author will undoubtedly appreciate. However, I was easily able to jump right in and completely enjoy Chaz and Kyle’s story without any confusion.

The start to this novel had a different sort of tone and pace. It felt almost like a summary of that initial attraction and flirting. Chaz and Kyle circled one another for months before it progressed to a date. While the extended timeline highlighted their chemistry, the style had those first few chapters feeling a little stiff. Personally, I would have preferred seeing and feeling those emotions building up in the moment rather than reflecting on how these two came together. Regardless, the chemistry was pervasive and undeniable throughout the book, and I fell hard for Chaz and Kyle. Both men were sweet, fun, and personable, and together they were absolutely adorable. Beyond the stilted start of the book, my only other issue was how long a conflict drug out. I struggled to understand Chaz’s delay in coming clean with Kyle. Though the author did a good job at explaining his concerns and I never stopped rooting for them, it did drag the pacing down a little. The writing itself was solid with fantastic dialogue that enhanced the interrelationships between the main and secondary characters. Even with the little issues, I was completely pulled into this wonderful world filled with interesting, vibrant characters brimming with love and fun.

My favorite part of getting immersed in a series is when that sense of family and the strong bonds spill forth from the pages and pull the reader into the book’s world. That sense of family and love was undeniable in Unscripted Love. Kyle, Chaz, and Blissville absolutely hooked me and I finished this book with a huge smile on my face and eager to see what is next in store for this series and community. For those who are new to the author, don’t let the fact that this book builds off a previous series deter you from jumping in with both feet.

After the high of reading four books about Gabe and Josh’s love story, I had high hopes going into the spin offs that are hinted at in their books.

Only to find myself absolutely loathing Chaz and everything he put Kyle through. I HATE plots built around One Big Lie and Chaz repeatedly deceived and played Kyle, and when he finally told the truth, Kyle should have kicked him to the curb. He was forgiven way too quickly and never really learned his lesson. There was nothing redeeming about Chaz and once they were together I felt nothing but sorry for Kyle.

And also, not sure how I feel about the fact that Kyle’s eating habits were borderline eating disorder. It’s one thing to eat healthy but he was obsessive and had some concerning internal dialogue about it. :-/

I almost wish I had just jumped to the next Gabe and Josh book because now I just have a bad taste in my mouth.

While this book does a great job catching you up on what Kyle and Chaz were like through the Curl up and Dye series, I still think you’d get the most enjoyment from this book having read that series. I did love that we got to read some scenes from that series now in Kyle or Chaz’s POV.

What frustrated me was Chaz’s constant running away (heck, he was worse than Josh!!) for reasons that could have been avoided with a simple conversation. That back and forth always gets on my nerves, because eventually I wanna tell the other guy that he’s just not worth it lol

Anyway, Chaz gets his act together and he and Kyle did have great chemistry and moments together. Loved the ending, loved that we got a nice catchup with Josh and Gabe, too! Really looking forward to starting Emory’s story!

Joel Leslie could read the phonebook to me and I'd be delighted. But add his voice to Aimee Nicole Walker's Blissville stories and I'm transported to a heavenly plane. One I leave reluctantly.

Kyle and Chaz's story was so sweet and so funny and so heartwarming that I didn't want to turn it off. And though this is first in a series, there are characters here from the author's other Blissville stories weaving in an out of this one. I haven't read more than one or two books in that series, but I didn't feel lost at all, so don't hesitate to pick this one up.

The enjoyment of listening to Joel is the best thing about this book, IMHO, but it wouldn't be as good if the author wasn't a highly talented storyteller. Very highly recommended.

I didn't expect much and that's what I got. There was way too much flashing back to events in the original series, things I had already read and experienced that I didn't want to revisit. Long story short, they meet, dance around each other, fall in love, get married, the end. Once again there was too much over emoting in the characters actions that I couldn't get into the story or really care of their relationship.

I have book 2 on my kindle and I look forward to that one because I want to see Emory and Jonathan get together. I like them as a couple more than I do Kyle and Chaz.

This was a good read but I do wish that we had more of a background story to all the other characters. Although it says it's a standalone it's better to read the other series to get a better idea of who everyone is because they all are a huge part of the story. Because I was confused at the beginning.

Kyle and Chaz were great characters and I loved seeing them together. The writing was good and the story itself really flowed well. Oh and the side characters were amazing after I got more information on them.

Yay finally Aimee Nicole gives us Chaz and Dr Dimples' romance and it's a cracker.

We see the events leading up to Josh and Gabe's relationship and wedding from the other side and it's fascinating to read what their friends think.

As for Chaz and Kyle, their relation is sweet and humorous with just a low level of angst and lots of great sex. Chaz feels guilt for not telling Kyle he's the guy he's been gaming with and slowly falling for. While Kyle's had feelings for Chaz even when he was still with Gabe but he's afraid of stepping out and saying something.

There's a bit of drama as they dance around the revelation that they've been connecting online but when it finally comes out, the reaction from Kyle is realistic and dealt with well.

This is the first in Aimee Nicole's new spin off series and there's also a bit of setting up for the next few books. I'm really hoping we get Emory and Silver next and I'm fascinated by Dare and Wren.

“I’ve dated the dime-a-dozen guys, but you’re a one-in-a-billion man.”

I was so excited for this book and reading Chaz and Kyle (AKA Dr Dimples) story and it didn't disappoint! This is book 1 in the Road to Blissville series, you could read it as a standalone but I wouldn't recommend it as the characters are spin offs from the Curl Up and Dye series and I think you would appreciate it much more by reading that series first.

So throughout the Curl Up and Dye series we met Kyle and Chaz. Kyle is a veterinarian and Gabe's ex boyfriend and Chaz is Josh's best friend. There's lots of chemistry and tension between them throughout and now we get to read their story from their point of view.

Chaz works in Josh's salon as salon manager but is a secret romance writer writing under a pseudonym, whilst doing research in to a gamer storyline he joins World of Warcraft online and strikes up a friendship with a fellow gamer who he soon works out is Kyle. He decides not to disclose to Kyle who he really is and once things get out of hand (or in hand as the case may be) he stops all online contact with him.

Kyle has always felt a connection to Chaz even when he was with Gabe but never acted on it. Then when he strikes up a friendship with 'Drew' online who he also instantly feels a connection with he is devastated when out of the blue he stops all contact.

'There were only so many words a person could use to describe the tempo of a kiss or so many places for a man to put his hands. As vast as the English language was, only a handful of adjectives worked well. Knowing those words and living them were two different things though.'

Kyle is so god damn sweet I just love him. He really likes Chaz and can't understand why he always puts up walls between them. He goes out of his way to show Chaz how much he likes him and wants to make a good go of it beyond the intimacy. Chaz drove me nuts at times, why not just come clean with a Kyle about him being Drew?!, especially when Kyle gave him ample opportunity to do so. I still loved him though.

'I wasn’t just kissed by Kyle; I was immersed in him. I didn’t just partake, I imbibed. I became inebriated from Kyle’s mouth'

When it works though it so good. There's so much chemistry between them and I LOVE that they both love Friends and that they went to Josh and Gabe's Halloween party as Ross and Chandler. I was laughing out loud imagining it. And when they kept dropping in Friends quotes and references I was in fandom heaven.

"I want to spend the rest of my days being your lobster.”

Secondary characters were awesome in this book. There were the characters from Curl Up and Dye that we already knew and loved but a few new faces particularly their respective families and I just adored Chaz's family they were hilarious. There's also a cameo from Agnes Simmons from the Fated Hearts series who Chaz fanboyed all over.

'Agnes Simmons was my literary idol. I loved every book she’d ever written, and her praise meant more to me than I could put into words.'

The ending to this book was just amazing! I won't spoil it but OMG!. This book was awesome, it's beautifully written and so immersive I just couldn't put it down. So excited for more from this series!

So happy to return to Blissville! I don’t know about the rest of you but I was saddened when the Curl Up and Dye series ended ( though I’m grateful Walker ended the series on a high rather than dragging it out into perpetuity. Thank goodness!) When Curl Up and Dye ended, I couldn’t get Kyle and Chaz out of my mind. I love the banter between Chaz and Josh ( it's easy to see why they’re best friends), and I couldn't wait to see how buttoned up Kyle would mesh with the spitfire that is Chaz.

The relationship aspect of this story was an interesting read. The backstory and the sense of “history”/ one degree of separation between these two were more than I expected which made me anxious to learn more about these two, especially Kyle. Sadly, that’s all I really enjoyed about the story. This is one of my favorite reads this year but if I were to compare this book to previous Blissville books, this fell a bit short. The chemistry between Kyle and Chaz isn’t as intense as what I experienced between Gabe and Josh. The sense of camaraderie and community wasn’t as present in comparison to other stories but I understood why considering Kyle and Chaz journey focused on their personal insecurities and working past them in order to embrace happiness.

I’m looking forward to more stories from Blissville. I’m crossing my fingers that Emory and Jonathan will take center stage next! Blissville is amazing and I’m looking forward to experiencing more crazy adventures with its crazy residents.
