My name is Rune, and I know everyone makes mistakes; it’s just that mine end up capable of razing a city to the ground.
A gigantic dragon holds court on the upper levels of a business-district skyscraper (dragons always know where the treasure is located). The fire-breathing serpent turned an entire prison complex into metal sludge, and it holds the country hostage via telepathic control of thousands of supernaturally-powered minions. The city is paralyzed by fear, and city officials are beginning to bend to the creature’s will.
I’m willing to make amends. I’m just understandably hesitant about being used as dragon-bait.
Fire Serpent is the fourth book in The Sentinels, a thrilling new urban fantasy series. Mixing mystery, magic, humor, and heart-pounding action, it's sure to delight fans of The Dresden Files and The Iron Druid Chronicles who may just find a new favorite hero in Rune Russell.
David was born in Australia, but moved to Ireland at an early age. The early globe crossing must have gone to his head, as he has since backpacked through and lived in numerous countries. He grew up on a farm as the eldest of nine unruly siblings, but since his escape, he prefers city living. His electronic engineering degree is currently gathering dust while he tries new and strange pursuits such as novel writing.
I love it when we see characters make choices that, one by one, lead to actions that they never would have done in the beginning. It shows how insidious evil can be. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, though the title 'Fire Servant' sounds a bit grim for Rune's fate.
