I screwed her like I owned her – because I did. I never lose control. Being a mob boss means keeping a tight rein on my emotions, my body, my business. But then I saw the fear in her innocent eyes, begging me to let her go… And I knew I had to make her mine.
ANTON
Buying things has lost its thrill. No one ever warned me about that particular downside of being a mafia billionaire. But winning things… Seizing anything you want from the weaker, the helpless, the cowardly…
That still gets my blood churning.
So, when the girl’s idiot boyfriend wagered her in a desperate final poker hand, I knew she was meant to be mine.
She thinks I’m joking when I tell her to go wait for me. But I’ve never been more serious. And my armed bodyguard convinces her this is the farthest thing from a prank.
Now, when the time is right, I will go back to where she is chained. I will lift up her pretty chin and stare straight into those gorgeous, helpless eyes. And I will tell her the sick truth of her frightening new reality:
You belong to me now, kitten.
SCARRED is a full-length, standalone, super steamy, bad boy mafia romance novel from bestselling author VIVIAN GRAY.
This suspenseful, action-packed mafia romance is intended for mature audiences, due to violence, strong language, dark themes and elements, and explicit intimate scenes. The romance between the alpha male bad boy and the fiery woman he can't resist ends with a guaranteed happily ever after (HEA) ending, has absolutely NO CHEATING, and does NOT include a cliffhanger of any kind.
Scarred was a tease. It was an okay book but definitely lacked the mob feeling the synopsis gave. Plus, the abs were deceiving as well which just disappoints me to the extreme.
In this, you will meet boring characters. I mean.. you meet Bailey and Anton. Nothing spectacular about them because they bored me to pieces. The romance/chemistry/smut was meh. I honestly didn't care if they ended up together or what was going to happen to anyone in this book.
There was hint of a love triangle, which annoyed me. Mostly because Bailey had a boyfriend, who was a douche and should never play poker ever again. The drama was annoying and frustrated me to no end. Plus the pacing was just a hot mess.
So this isn't a dark read and it's pretty straight forward. Not what I'd expected. What I liked was how the H wasn't all J/P once he had the h but he was sort of aloof...
I liked the premise of the story. It unfortunately had no depth, no real backstory to the characters. Anton for someone who has made billions running a criminal enterprise was operating on a real low level. Bribing beat cops? Never really revealed what exactly he did. Bailey was also a good strong character but somehow came across as a bit of an understandable opportunist. I really wanted to enjoy this book and read it to the end.. I would ask the author to consider a rewrite of the story because it has really good bones.
I chose this rating because this was an okay book. I really enjoyed most of the characters. This was a book about possessiveness, revenge, being compassionate to someone, and not trying to rule over another person. Not that person to have their free will and not be forced to do anything that they didn't want to do. The book was okay. I like when Anton took care of Bailey and helped her to get the mindset that she needed. Pretty good relief. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I can't even give it 3 *. This is my first read by Vivian Gray. I'll give her another shot. The love story was nice but it really didn't keep me in any type of high. I was actually wanting to finish the book already and it didn't even take me that long. My imagination loves a good description and history of the lives of the characters. There was no knowledge of the background or previous relationships of what lead neither character to the lives they're living. The author spent no time on character-building. No real reason to believe that Anton was actually a mob boss other than slapping an employee around for an err. Although it was a nice book, I will only remember that Bailey was sold as a chip in a poker game.
Who knew you can be a pawn for your bf in a pomer game? When she finds herself placed in the situation of being taken by a stranger because of her bf she is terrified and mad. She isn't a commodity to be sold or traded. Anton proves to her she deserves better but soon she finds his world is so much more than she bargained for. Can she face what they face next? Exciting fear that will have you guessing what will happen next.
I was provided an ARC of this book and this is my honest review...... Vivian Gray has done a great job with this book. Some twists, great chemistry, and two damaged souls. Anton and Bailey are well developed, interesting characters, that I found compelling. The story moved quickly, had great heat, and was a really solid read. Exactly what I expect from Vivian Gray!!
The description of the book doesn't match the book. This is a Russian mob wanna be. The guy is too soft. The story was well written but I wish they wouldn't have labeled it Russian mob romance. Maybe Russian billionaire romance or Russian Underworld romance. Just not mob. Anyway not a bad read just mislabed and described.
When you see what you want go after it. Let nothing stop you. After Anton won her in a poker game from her deadbeat boyfriend he decided to make her want more, namely him. Sometimes you desire something different without even verbally acknowledging it. The need sneaks up on you and bam, the itch is there until you scratch it.
Wow what a book it's well written and the storyline is awesome full of action hot chemistry I hated her ex I was hooked but they do get their happy ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This book wasn’t bad, just really nothing special. Everything about this book was just bland. Not a bad read if you can’t find anything else but overall I would save you time and money.
Bailey was a insecure woman stuck with someone because her circumstances didn’t work in her favor. Just to be put up in a bidding gone wrong. To find love as the outcome! Such a beautiful thing.
I enjoyed the relationship between Bailey and Anton. It worked nicely and being as this was a shorter read it gave more information than what is usually included.
A great well written drama filled with suspense and of course hot chemisty and steamy scenes. This action packed story has such well developed characters and suspense I was hooked from the beginning. Bailey is asked to dress up and she gets excited because she thinks her and her boyfriend Brendan, are going out and maybe start to mend some distance and connection that their long term relationship is lacking. Instead she was wagered as collateral for a poker game he was losing to Anton, head kingpin of the mafia. However, the action doesn't stop there Bendan becomes an ex who I think has lost it with his additional antics. Vivian never dissappoints with another must read book I really enjoyed. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
