The seat-gripping conclusion to the #1 bestselling Magical Mayhem trilogy!
One thing has become perfectly clear: The Mages’ Guild won’t stop coming for me until I am either under their control, or dead.
So rather than wait to be cornered…I’m going to take the fight to them.
But Emery and I can’t do it alone.
We have to assemble enough power in the magical world to rip the Guild off of their high horse. And to do that, we’ll need the shifters as well as the vampires.
Except, shifters and vampires would rather kill each other than work together. And after a surprise run-in with a strangely powerful goblin, my world is slapped sideways.
If I can’t learn the strange new power I totally-didn’t-steal-because-it-wasn’t-my-fault, and can’t get arch nemeses to work together for the common good, the Guild will finally have their prize. Me.

Don't waste your time with this book if you dislike weak, stupid and moronic females who behave like 12-year-olds and are still living under their mother's thumb. Don't get me wrong - the writing is fantastic and Emery is amazing. Emery is sexy and strong and brilliant, and deserves way better than being saddled with a nincompoop. I'm not gonna lie... halfway through the book I just wished Penny would trip and die a horrid death, so that Emery can get with someone awesome like Marie.
Reagan is definitely my favourite character out of all of KF Breene's books (tied with Shanti). She is exactly what a heroine ought to be... strong, feisty and good-likeable-quirky. Yes, I said good and likeable - giving your character an eccentric, adorable personality means it should end up as a positive thing. Sad to say, Penny's quirks only serve to dumb her down and portray her as less mentally developed than the average person.
All in all, Penny is the reason I do not recommend the Magical Mayhem series - go read Reagan's books instead.
4.5 stars. The final in this trilogy arc but I'm sure more is coming. For some reason I was really craving Reagan and enjoyed her appearances most in this book. There must be another arc for her coming up and I can't wait. The MCs in this book are great especially Penny. Her clutzy, fearful ways are really appealing and her reaction to her mum is hilarious. If you're looking for a new urban fantasy series you should pick this up starting with Reagan's first book.
I decided to save my review of this series for this 3rd installment so I could see where this was going. This was mostly entertaining even though the humor was just a bit forced sometimes. Penny's mom is very entertaining For some reason, I keep think of her as Shirley Maisel from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
But despite being entertaining I couldn't get over one giant unaddressed flaw that weakens the whole series, the question of why. The entire plot requires the evil Mages Guild to be on the hunt for the main characters but the why?
Penny and Emery have power, but the guild throws away the lives of hundreds of birds in hand for the chance of controlling these two birds in the bush and the only reason given is 'power'. But that's awfully vague. Why would hundreds of people with magical abilities invest their time and life in this organization? What are the benefits? What does the guild even do? These questions are never answered including the most important one: What would the guild do with the power they expect to gain from Penny? It should be pretty important given the resources they throw at it, but it's not at all clear.
This was a fabulous (semi) conclusion to Penny and Emery's story. Please don't be put off by people bashing Penny's character! Try it for yourself because personally, I think she's amazing. Penny, Emery, and Reagan are my favourite trio.
A lot of our favourite characters unite in this book and we see a fragile truce form between the vampires and werewolves as they work together to defeat the Mages Guild. Lots of crazy awesome magic!
My advice: If you are looking for K.F. Breene’s tried & true quality characters & humor, then don’t read this series. I don’t think these three books accurately represent Breene’s talent. I like this author, but I hated these books.
As a fan, I’m disappointed. This last book was boring, redundant and quite honestly annoying. There is no character development. The action is mundane. The dialogue is tired. I could barely get through this book, the only reason why this isn’t 1 star is because the Emery & Reagan are the only good characters and barely save this book from a dnf.
If you want your heroine to be a whiny, moronic, bumbling idiot that can’t think for themselves and with enough natural skill that barely keeps them alive, then you’ll love Penny. The amount of times that Penny was “hunching” and “trembling” was just too much for me. Come on girl, get a backbone. I get that she is sheltered & has a helicopter mom, but honestly I expected some growth. Instead, I got three books about a glorified shaking meek chihuahua with only one brain cell & strong magical powers.
I really enjoyed the series, but I always felt like ... Penny just wasn't my cup of tea. Her being utterly cowed by her mother, and having a tendency to be slow on the uptake (like, some of her mom's typos were damn obvious, and the payoff to reap what you sow as damn obvious, but it took her aaaaaaaaaages to put the pieces together), just hurt her a bit in my eyes.
But again, I really liked the series a lot. Breene is consistently one of my favorite storytellers, and I wasn't let down by this series. The ending was nice too. Can't wait to see where the pyramid of power goes!
Oh my gosh, I’m having SO much fun with this series!! This third in the Penny trilogy is the best one yet! Everything I love, humor that cracks me up, action that keeps me biting my nails, twists and turns that keep me reading and wanting more. It may not be rocket science but it is sure all kinds of crazy fun!
I completely forgot how annoying the main character is in this book! Oh , and you’re honey calling you “turd swallop” is not funny, cute or anything close to endearing 🤮
I put this book off for a few days; maybe because i wasn’t incredibly blown away by the second book, or maybe because i was scared of it all ending. Either way, it was glorious. It was funny and captivating and it had a perfect blend of Emery and Penny and Penny and Reagan. I loved it.
Beware, my running thoughts are few:
*cries because this is the last book*
*dies laughing*
Man-fear. So legit.
That was beautiful.
*dies laughing* I love the relationship between Penny and Reagan.
I think the longer this series went on, the less I liked it. Penny started to slightly get on my nerves and the comedic effect of her mother had worn thin. We did get the big battle and the resolution and all that but I kind of didn’t care that much by that time.
Actually wished there was more with the shifters as they seemed far more interesting. Just an okay book for me but I’m glad to be done with the series at this point.
http://www.unbrindelecture.com/2024/1...
Too much sameness in the trilogy: same foes, same goals, same magic battles, same jokes. It got kinda yawny by the time I was a quarter of the way into Natural Dual-Mage. And the big, giant showdown they've been prepping for this whole time? Total joke. After three magic-user-focused books, I'm glad it's over.
Just Wow, What An Outstanding Book & Finale to The Trilogy!! 😍🎉 Natural Dual-Mage: Demon Days, Vampire Nights World, Book 6 By: K.F Breene 🎧 Audiobook Narrated By: Nicole Poole 📖 Ebook
Excellent narration by this voice actor.⭐️
You'll need to force yourself to take bathroom breaks during this one because you won't want to tear yourself away from 'Natural Dual-Mage' for a minute! That's just how awesome, intense, exciting, and nail biting this final book in the Magical Mayhem Trilogy is. 😎💥
Penny and Reagan have continued to train as well as take jobs together since they, along with Emery, took down their enemies in 'Natural Mage'. Reagan is delighting in the hilarity of chaos that her and Penny cause. While Penny is still trying not to die of shock or shear terror.😂 It's on one such Bounty Hunt that something goes vastly awry for our Natural Mage and Turds truly Wallop the fan.💩😳 This one may not have a fix that our group are used to, or that one of them is willing to pay, yet!🤔
Natural enemies need to decide if they can push their issues aside to unite under one banner ~ Destroying the 'Mage Guild' as it currently stands!! Penny, Emery, and Reagan are all in. We know Darius is in the fight because of his 'Bonded Mate' and his link to Penny and Emery. Will the vampires try to seize control of what rises from the ashes of the Mage Guild? Will the Shifter's? And that's all assuming they're successful in the first place!!🔮💣💥
We also get to meet a new powerhouse in this book. Cahal, He's amazing, scarily cool, and doesn't seem to have a vested interest in the outcome of the Mage Guild one way or the other. He has his own task to complete - interesting.🤔😎
I didn't think this series could get any better but the non-stop action, the bonds of friendship, love and loyalty, plus the desire that some in the magical community showed to protect Penny, even against their own nature at time's, is truly something. It blew me away! 💖
I will miss this group of characters SO, so much, but I have little doubt that they will crop up in future DDVN series🤞💖🍀 This book & trilogy is truly unmissable!!! 🎉
Another great novel from KF Breene. Definitely not a standalone. It's best to read the novels beginning with the Fire and Ice Trilogy, which tells the story of Reagan and Darius, and then the Magical Mayhem series which launches Penny's story from a common event in New Orleans.
Plot: This was a great continuation in the series - a defined plot for this specific novel and a continuation of issues raised in previous novels. I love how each book has a resolution. So many books I've read recently fail to have an actual resolution/ conclusion at the end. Even though this conclusion seems to indicate there will be another book, there was an epic battle and many deaths. My only critique would be that the action and battle sequences are so long that I feel like I get adrenal fatigue. I have to put the book down in the middle and come back to it later.
Characters: They are hilarious and well-developed. I love Reagan's brash wit so much, and it's such a great contrast to Penny's sweetness.
Romance: Gets a bit strong with the language/ description. Definitely beyond PG-13/ Young Adult level.
Technical: absolutely no complaints. It seems like Breene is not American by some of her grammar and slang choices, but those things are easily overlooked. The reader knows what she means.
Yet another wonderful conclusion the trilogy, to say featuring Penny the title mentioned witch, would be doing the book a disfavour because this is one of those occasions where the ensemble cast really make the book. And to then fling in a wonderful dark and mysterious stranger with a dangerous power is just cruel. I can only hope that there are more books in the works and that Mr mysterious druid will feature heavily. In fact I'd take any book set in this world. Pure escapist reading brilliance.
Reread Nov 2025 - Still a fantastic read and great series. Love the relationship between Penny and Emory and my previous review still stands. Such an intense battle that has you bursting out in laughter at times. This series is quickly becoming a comfort series for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is exactly what I needed after my last audiobook. I've never read an intense battle scene before that also had me dying of laughter. Reagan, Emory, Penny and the whole gang just leaves me in stitches. I'm a little sad to be wrapping up with Penny as the main POV, but I'm excited to continue on with the world see what the big culmination is going to be! Another amazing graphic audio and another 5 stars!
This book brings Penny, Emery, and Reagan together for the final battle against the Mages Guild. If you’ve read the other books in the series, then you must have a fairly good idea what happens in this book and it does.
This book is full of action, adventure, and a little bit of romance. It’s done very well. Read it! Happy reading y’all!
Better than the second. Penny is still annoying me with being uncertain and unable to control her magic but we get a lot of the shifters at the end, Reagan, a new druid, and some other interesting allies in a final battle that's kind of glorious. I can't wait for more of these books, curious where it's heading next.
Truthfully I almost didn't finish this book/series. Penny isn't my favorite character however I enjoyed the characters around her, so I finished it to see how they ended up. The book ended better than I anticipated.
This story just keeps getting better! This instalment striking a perfect balance between suspense and humour ! Honestly I was so wound up at times in the suspense of the many intense moments only for the characters uniqueness to catch me out and make me laugh. I felt so connected to emery when he “chuckled” because how could anyone not! Haha I love the continued plot of this series how the story unfolds through the growth of the characters individually and as a group. I love the alliances that are forming with the edge of doubt on a few . I love the mix of fantastical creatures and types of magic and I LOVE the way pennys connection to the natural world has brought them together in what feels a natural way despite all their differences .
I’m completely hooked on this series and looking forward to delving into more !!
