There are great awakenings that come from loving and losing. It is in these moments that we really know and understand who we are. In soft, Kiana Azizian uses the repetition of being in love and suffering through heartbreak to heal, forgive, move on, and fall in love again. Self-discovery and reflection are powerfully, yet vividly portrayed in a way that only those who have been loved will understand.
“we rise. // we heal. // we overcome.” in a lot of poetry these days, I’ve seen a few words slapped onto a page that means nothing. kiana is able to do exactly the opposite. to be able to say so much with so few words is a gift, and I cannot wait to see what she does next.
I fell in love with the writing. I could’ve highlighted the entire book honestly. It’s for the reader that needs a reminder they are enough and perfect the way they are. It’s beautiful.
This book came at a point in my life where every single word meant something to me. It rattled my bones and touched on my soul. Already bought another book by this author.
This collection didn't seem targeted towards me; it appears to cater more to those in search of love and affirmation, which isn't something I struggle with. Nevertheless, I didn't find the poetry particularly inspiring or uplifting enough to suggest it to someone seeking positivity through reading. With a bit more depth and creativity, this poetry collection could have been more enlightening.
