Death is only the Two seemingly unrelated mysteries plague Beatrice Knight Timmons while she struggles with her witch lessons, forgiveness and impending homelessness. To complicate matters further, a couple of weddings and an overbearing relative interfere with her investigations. But that’s the least of her worries; a shadowy figure known only as the Poacher is targeting the children of paranormals. When danger begins to rock the cradle and threatens her growing family, Miss Knight must put aside her doubts and fears to face her greatest foe her past.
This is the third case in the “Cozy Tea Shoppe Mystery” series, where Jane Austen meets Lara Croft in colonial Africa. Tea isn’t the only thing that’s brewing in the delicious sequel to the “Society for Paranormals” series. Join supernatural detective Miss Knight as she attempts to keep the kettle hot and her customers satisfied (or at least alive) while dodging murder, mayhem and other inconveniences. Serving tea has never been more dangerous.
I've been a writer since I could hold pen to paper, which is a lot longer than I care to admit. I live in Kenya with my family and other animals. When I'm not writing, I pretend to work as an environmental consultant.
TEA BEFORE DYING is the third in the Cozy Tea Shoppe mysteries. It begins with a little house keeping, bringing the characters up to date. Simon is released from durance vile, that is the English legal system in London, because, to his astonishment, the physical evidence against him just disappeared. After his release he went to sleep in his attorney's home in London and woke up on the train approaching Nairobi. Again to his astonishment.
Beatrice has a good idea about what happened but isn't telling. Simon accustomed to many strange events in his association with Beatrice in previous novels just shrugs it off until next time.
In chapter 5 the homecoming and sharing of news is done and new trouble appears, "I KNEW I was in trouble—again—when late that afternoon, a man dashed into the Cozy Tea Shoppe, blurted out, “No chai,” and dropped dead on top of a box of tea leaves.'
Now it's time to hang on for a very entertaining ride featuring the usual cast of characters plus a few pesky zombies and government officials. This is a standalone novel but with so many recurring characters, I recommend starting at the beginning with, "MURDER FOR TEA.". The Africa With a Bite series featuring most of the same cast begins with, " GHOSTS OF TSAVO."
I really enjoyed this third book in the Cozy Tea Shoppe Mysteries series. I liked it better than the second one, I think because the whole gang was back together, including Simon. As usual, the book was well written and the story moved along well and was funny and sweet at times. The story was wrappped up well, though it will be interesting to see how the characters are transitioned to the next series. I would recommend this series for anyone who likes paranormal stories that have some humor in them and are a little bit different, almost a romance, but not quite, just good stories with interesting characters.
This is a romance in the older sense of the word as well as the current. A wedding between Mrs. Timmons brother and best friend Cilla brings a horrible visitor from England. A romance between Jonas's daughter and a vampire proceeds with the grandmother of the bride to be making an appearance. Stir in magical transformation, monsters of the good and bad kind, abduction, chase scenes, automatons, and lots of tea. Add adorable babies and birds. A wonderful mystery magic mashup results.
There are not very many series that can really hold up well for more than 4 or 5 books. There are even fewer that can hold you attention to complete the entire series from book 1 to book 10 with that desperate need to know how it all ends. Miss Knight is like Parasol Protectorate meets Amelia Peabody. Victorian ladies all with little regard for the societal strictures of their day. Then there is Yao (a personal favorite of the many characters in this series). If this was a sitcom, he would be the one-off character who garnered so many fans that he had to be written in as a regular. Highly recommend.
Are you looking for an abnormal paranormal series set in Nairobi in the late 1800’s? This excellent series stars a praying mantis as a secondary character, a horse that belches and reluctantly flies, a baby with rather long teeth, a very irritating aunt with her own agenda, and a main character who has a very handy artificial hand. Start at the beginning of the series and enjoy!
I love the characters in this series. They are fascinating. I loved the story but the ending did not satisfy my need for revenge. Children at peril is not something I can abide. Somehow I do not trust the newest character that has joined the family. Hope we will learn more about her in the future.
Vered Ehsani has written an excellent series that has ended with this book! The characters are alive and the reader is drawn into the story. The story ends with the promise of another series coming in the future. I am looking forward to reading the Shifters of Africa series. I highly recommend this Cozy Tea Shoppe series to one & all.
Who wouldn't need a bracing cup of tea with all the African paranormals hovering about. Weddings, children, and secrets keep Beatrice hopping in this episode. Fans won't want to miss one single word while sipping their own cups of tea.
