Sister. Mother. Behavior specialist by day, writer by night. Future SLP. Member of Club Spectrum. Devout Ravenclaw. Hobbies include reading, wine and chocolate. Spends her days in the company of children, which is really the best kind of company to keep; only a 5 year old can wield a sword with such ferocity that the dragons quiver, or sing a song more enchantng than a sirens. When she isn't surrounded by children, you can find her wrapped up in a book, usually with a cup of coffee – iced in the morning and hot in the evenings. She loves reading, painting, writing and fuzzy socks. Dragons, magic and mermaids are usually fussing about in her head, and she’s a sucker for beautiful words.

I love the intensity in this book. It gets to the point where you can’t put the book down because you have to see what happens next. C.A. takes the time to help her readers understand the works, without losing momentum.
The reason I did not give it a higher rating is simply because the book finishes in the middle of a story. Instead of the first book in a series, it felt like part one of that book. That being said, I’m now invested in the characters and story, so I will definitely be reading the second book when it comes out.
I enjoyed it. The story is lovely and nicely written. It builds up slowly but it’s worth it. I am really curious how the story will develop and I look forward to the writer’s next book.
I’m leaning towards 4.5 stars here. I love the characters but the names can be a bit confusing... I’d love a glossary if people in the back maybe. The first few chapters were a bit less interesting, especially the debate scenes between council members but once Allie became the main POV it was great. I couldn’t stop reading and I can’t wait for the next book.
