Forget You, Ethan

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...

I've hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next door neighbor and number one sworn enemy, she's the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)

She snitched on me when I broke curfew.

I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend.

We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.

But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until I realized just how much between us had changed, and the line I thought we'd never cross became harder and harder to ignore...

The most pathetic heroine I read lately. PATHETIC!

Enemies to lovers? I say a weak girl with a huge crush on a manwhore to a pathetic doormat with a huge crush on a manwhore.

He fucked everything with a pulse, while pretending to hate her – well, at the end he said he was in love with her since he was 7 yo. Yeah! Tell me more!

The one moment he has his arm around another girl, whom he dated/led on to want a relationship with, the next moment he fucks the heroine???

I say cheater!

I’m so pissed off, it’s not even funny!

You can count on Whitney G. to write engaging stories in the enemies, frenemies, or friends to lovers tropes. With Forget you, Ethan she offers a funny, sweet and sexy romance between a romantic hothead heroine and the boy next door who grew up to be the man of her starry-eyed dreams.

When Rachel Dawson moved in next door to him, seven and a half year old Ethan Wyatt though she’d be as lame as the rest of the girls on his block. Turns out she declared war on him the moment she pushed him down the stairs five minutes later. It was all-out hostilities until they went to college.

Through the years they fought, snitched on each other and took their revenge. But they were also there for one another through all the major events in their lives, always interested in what their arch nemesis was doing under the pretense of one upping the other, constantly exchanging correspondence and signing “Forget you.”

Rachel went as far as going to college at sea, until she showed up on Ethan’s doorstep during their senior year. Living with your arch nemesis had never been so tempting.

No one does frenemies to lovers better than Whitney G. I loved the fun and engaging storyline between Ethan and Rachel that recounted their past and present and had me hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed every aspect of their story, from the soundtracks that started each chapter to every letter they exchanged. Even though they denied it because they didn’t understand it, their friendship grew until it had no other course but to turn into sweet and sexy romance.

Even though the back and forth was witty and fun and the attraction sizzled, there were things that they still needed to work out during the shift from frenemies to lovers.

P.S. I loved, LOVED the reference to Carter and Arizona from Whitney’s Sincerely Carter book! If you’re a fan of that one, you’ll most certain love Forget You, Ethan.

Forget You, Ethan is a full length contemporary romance by Whitney G.. It is a standalone frenemies to lovers rom-com, told from both points of view with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger.

Too little for years of writing ... well, it wasn't worth it.

*Major spoilers ahead*

I didn't like the MCs at all, he is too arrogant for me to enjoy, and she is just stupid and pathetic and immature it's not attractive. There's no humour, no chemistry, no love, just plain idiocy. She was with a boy for two semesters without sex, and he lied to her about having cancer so she would stop sending him letters. Of course he would lie to you, you can't take a hint. And then you are ok with having sex with another the moment he touched you while the people you were both with are next door, and you both have no human decency to let them know they're not needed anymore. she was so mean to her father and his wife, how old are you? Six? And don't let me start with her mother encouraging the relationship between her husband and her friend. Or Ethan's father wake up call about his son's desires and dream. Everything was too convenient!

The whole book is centered on their relationships and sexual experiences, or the lack of it for her. Yes high school boys aren't great but neither that bad she (the most attractive in school) can't find a boyfriend. And her not having fun while traveling was utter nonsense, people who travel are the most carefree, adventurous and romantic people you can meet, not bc they are always that way, but bc they tend to let go and have fun while traveling. so it's impossible for her to not meet decent men and have great experiences ... Oh my god! when she was telling him she was lying about her great experiences and that she slept only with two men, I have no words ... why why would a woman want to look that pathetic in front of the arrogant manwhore she just kissed!?

The book was so similar to sincerely Carter; the friendship, bc they were not enemies, they were just being teenagers. the sex comes so easy for him while it's hard for her to find a decent partner. The conflict of distance relationship, the heroine is so ready to give up things for them to stay together while the hero is the rational one ... Many things are copied from her other books too; the emails (please enough with the emails). Female lead lying to him about her date and the hero being so certain she was lying, and then laughing at her bc of it, I just read the same scene about a bad date last week in one of her books. The arrogant hero who's always right. Male lead saying mean things and then chasing her after. The heroine never say no to him, if he kisses her she kisses him back, if he wants sex she is weak in the knees, if he wants more she is flying, like having him is the biggest deal .. so it's always and I mean always up to the male lead in her books. And she writes the same characters every single time, yes, she writes great chemistry, her writing is engaging and her stories are highly entertaining, not this one though, but she always writes, an arrogant hero and a heroine who keeps fighting him but fails miserably when fighting is required.

“You would stay here because that’s the most romantic option, because you’re incapable of making logical decisions and you base everything off how you feel and what you read in your goddamn romance books.” He stepped closer, glaring at me. “Instead of going to college like a normal person, you joined Semester at Sea because you were mad about something I said.”
“I was mad about something you did.”
“Same difference.” He shrugged. “Look at where that got you. You’re a year and a half behind on credits with three years of time on a ship you hated, all because someone hurt your goddamn feelings. You’re willing to stay and take pointless ass courses to be close to someone you’ve only been dating for a couple months.”

See? he is aware of how pathetic you are ... Thanks Ethan, for being rational and totally forgettable!
_______

My thoughts before reading:

We've been waiting for long, we almost forgot you Ethan ... hope you're worth it!

This story was about so much more than I expected. I knew that it would be full of good banter, angst, and sexy times. But I could in no way have predicted the scope of it all. The banter was amazing , but what really got me going was the fake animosity between the characters.

I freaking hated Rachel!! But I think that was the point... right? She was petty, abrasive, and delusional. I thought it was funny each time she was confronted by the fact that she had no friends and I cheered when she finally admitted to lying to make herself appear 'better'. What bothered me the most about her was how underneath all the nonsense she did, she was a good person and her life would have been ten times more satisfying if she showed THAT face to the world.

I freaking loved Ethan!! Yes, he was a jerk to Rachel, but really, when you stop to think about it, everything he did was in retaliation of her foolishness. And honestly, I was ecstatic whenever he put her in her place. He went above and beyond for this girl, showed her time and time again that he had her back, and she kept throwing it back in his face. I was surprised that he even kept putting up with her ish and I loved him for it.

Be prepared for childish antics, bitter grudges, a girl refusing to grow the hell up, and a hot AF guy who just might be the key to her redemption.

You can’t go wrong with an enemies to lovers story in my eyes! Forget You, Ethan follows to childhood enemies, Rachel and Ethan who are now in college. Ethan has always been the cool guy and Rachel has been a bit more nerdy, they’ve always been what I would call frenemies. Deep down it’s apparent that one of them has never truly believed the other to be their enemy at all. They’ve always been protective. I enjoyed listening to this one. I especially loved Ethan. Rachel irked me with her juvenile behavior at times, but overall this was a good one! Recommended to those who love college age romances and enemies to lovers/childhood rivalries.

This book definitely had its cute moments and a great premise.
I wanted it to be longer and I think it needed to be longer and if it had been I think I'd have been looking at something approaching a five star read.
Unfortunately, the story felt rushed and a bit underdeveloped with a lot of happenings crammed in to a relatively short book, but lacked the intensity.
On the positive side, it was an easy read and the characters were likable.
There were so many good aspects to this book, I liked the writing style and the romance.
I just needed more background and more actual plot.

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 3/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 3/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 3/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 3/5 | Secondary Characters 3/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 3/5 | Pacing Fast | Action 2/5

Awesome!

just what i needed! ;)

And I sure ain't FORGETTING about it, anytime soon

Whitney G writes one of my fave tropes - enemies to lovers and this story tops it all, with wits, humor, pranks, banter and bickering between the main characters, Ethan Wyatt, Mr. Popular and Rachel Dawson, sassy nerd with frizzy hair, since they first met, as neighbours, at the age of 7, and through out their exchanges of what seemed to be hateful words, deeds and action, you can't really stop yourself from grinning when they finally realize that all this time, they were in fact, the closest people to each other, and that all of it was worth it...cause they being "frenemies" actually led them to find the love of their lives
I love you, Rachel Dawson, and I've loved you since I was seven and a half years old.

awwww

that's all I'm gonna drop here as a conclusion LOL

“True enemies can’t be cordial.” “You can if you have to be,”

A really enjoyable enemies to lovers new adult romance. Forget You, Ethan had me laughing, smiling, and swooning from the first page until the last. I really enjoyed Ethan & Rachel’s relationship. It’s told from both of their POV’s and jumps between their present and their past. I just love the angst of having feelings for someone and not admitting it, or not even really knowing it. This book provides that feeling and so much more. I will say that this book suffers a bit from convenient resolutions any time there is a problem. Things just were fixed way too simply for my tastes, but I still enjoyed the book, and can’t wait to read Forget You, Rachel to see what the characters are up to!

Forget you Ethan....I wish I could forget and rewind my time back to before I read this piece of garbage and change my mind!
1) This is not an enemies to lovers book-they are basically each others only friends but pretend to hate each other but not really because they write each other letters like several times a week?!!
2) The characters are so immature, especially Rachel, and this feels like its set in school not college.
3) THERE IS CHEATING IN THIS! They are both so f***ing immature that they use other people to make the other person jealous and then both just leave their dates and start having sex!!!
description
4) There is no chemistry.
5) There is no humour.
6) She is beyond cruel to her father.
7) That awful dry humping scene on the boat still makes me want to heave.
8) The ending with his father finding his writing and suddenly being ok with him pursuing writing instead of taking over the business was just soooo convenient...🙄 🙄 🙄

The release buzz is over.
So does this live up to our expectations?
Well, can’t say.
As any normal book ‘Forget you Ethan’ is funny and romantic. It was as witty as this authors previous books.
But as the highly anticipated book,
It was just OK.
(I happen to love Whitney G books. Her writing is addicting to me. So no matter the story, if I have started reading her book then I’m gonna end up loving it)

Ethan and Rachel hate each other since the day they met when they were kids. Even though they hated each other they kept on writing letters to each other. They even share their sexual life with each other. (I mean why would anyone share there sex life with there enemy......)

Rachel hardly have any friends or boyfriends (even though every guy is like wow she is hot and all). On the other hand, Ethan is our Mr.Popular guy in the campus (even though usually his girlfriends cheats on him).

And every letter they write ends up with..
Forget you, Rachel
Forget you, Ethan

During the senior year, Rachel becomes his house partner. It’s long since they have seen each other. (But they kept writing letters to each other boasting about there so called happening life)
And then Rachel proposes this ‘pretend to be friends ‘ to Ethan till she makes new friends, and also she doesn’t want to feel lonely in her senior year. (Seriously? Why does she need to be so desperate that she has to beg to her enemy?)
So anyway he helps her setting up her Facebook and Tinder accounts. (Like really?)

And so this hating and forgetting each other continues until one day Ethan kisses Rachel. The jealousy of him and the way he acts afterwards makes it clear that he has feelings for her. And so does she. But if you have read this author previous books, you know that the heroine is going to be somewhat resistant. But they do become Boyfriend-Girlfriend. Later we have some academic related problems were they have to be at different places. And Rachel is not ready for the long distance thing but Ethan apparently have no problem with that. So they fight on this.

Overall, fun and kept me engaged.

If there’s one thing that I love , it’s an enemies to lovers story. The hate that radiates off the characters, the mind games, the plot to ultimately destroy them and only to have it backfire, and let’s not forget the crap ton of sexual tension that burns up the pages. Whatever it is, however the outcome, I’m a true sucker for stories like these and although I didn’t entirely love this one, it still kept me entertained.

Sworn enemies since they were seven years old, Rachel Dawson and Ethan Wyatt have perfected the art of being uncivilized to one another. From tiss fights, to insulting each other as if they were handing out compliments, these two have done it all and then some. Now in their early twenties and in their final year of college, you would think that their bitter rivalry and feud would be put to rest because their now young adults but that’s not the case. For now anyway.

As luck would have it, Rachel is in desperate need of a place to stay and Ethan needs a new roommate. So with her big girl panties on and Ethan’s agreement, they settle on being cordial to each other. But how long will that truce last or will their feud prevent them from becoming something more?

I had a love hate relationship with this book if im being honest. There were some moments where I felt like I was on cloud nine and couldn’t get enough of their witty banter with each other and then there were moments where I just couldn’t stand the female heroine! Some of her actions irked me to no avail and I desperately wanted to shake her sometimes. Now as for Ethan, he was not perfect at all but he knew that and he was honest with what he wanted and I liked that about him.

If you’re looking for a funny enemies to lovers romance, then I think you should give this one a try.

***2.5 forget you STARS***

the book isn't totally bad. there were moments where I really LOL, but there were also moments that were pathetic. And I mean REALLY pathetic. And don't get me started about the heroine. I don't know, but it's already the second book from this author, where the heroine is a weak, totally immature and I'd say a dumb creature. I couldn't help but cringe while reading about her...

These two were so freaking cute!

Forget You, Ethan was such an adorable read. I feel like I blew through it but in a really good way. I was enjoying it way too freaking much that I was sad when it was over. I think there's going to be a second book, and I can't wait to dive into that one!

In this, you will meet Ethan and Rachel. Sworn enemies since the day they first met. They first grew up down the street from each other but then they became next door neighbors. Yeah, she was definitely the girl next door. Again, this book was adorable AF.

They were always at it with each other. They hated each other so much that their friendship was weirdly cute. They would write letters to each other basically saying the other person was a loser and that their own life was more amazing. I loved the spelling errors from Rachel because she just reminded me of myself. I also just really enjoyed their friendship because they always looked out for each other no matter what. They were basically family but they were still enemies.

Of course, sparks fly between these two when they back on the same college campus. They both get jealous of the other while starting off a ski trip - but then it got hot and heavy pretty quickly. The smut and chemistry between these two was amazing. I just fell in love with the characters while they were growing up and then loved them even more when they were starting to act like a couple.

Until they stopped being a couple due to miscommunication. Of course they called each other out one their crap - which I loved. The ending was so god damn adorable and that is why I need the second book if it's actually a real thing. I NEED IT PEOPLE.

"Even though we hated each other down to our marrow, and we could never get along for more than twenty minutes at a time, we always wrote back..."

Forget You, Ethan was a quick and fun read. It is about Ethan and Rachel who are not quite enemies and not quite friends. They meet at the age of seven when Rachel moves into the neighborhood. They have a love/hate relationship from the start but can't stay away from each other. Rachel loves to send letters, and does so whenever she can to tell Ethan how much she hates him. They keeps in contact no matter what and they love to annoy each other. I just enjoyed the flashbacks so much, they were hilarious and it showed the type of relationship these two have.

Overall this was a great fun, light new adult romance. The sex scenes were HOT, and the banter was hilarious. However the story was finished before I knew it. This was a very quick read, and I wished it was much longer so I could enjoy these two characters more. There was just more to their story and I can't wait for the FREE extended epilogue to release. I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers. Also I need more stories like Forget You, Ethan and Sincerely, Carter, because they are so much fun!

Decepción total!
It was a very dumb book!!
La heroína patética, el un manwhore. Fue como una película de comedia mala, con situaciones irreales y over the top; tipo american Pie pero peor.
It was not even funny.

Realmente olvidé a Ethan...

Forget you, Ethan de Whitney G

Ethan me pareció arrogante a veces, y DEMASIADO perfecto?

4 Stars!

This author definitely has a unique way of telling a story and you never know where she's going with the plot. I happen to enjoy her style and chalk up Forget You, Ethan as a win! It was funny, a little odd, but also heartwarming. Looking forward to spending a little more time with this cute couple in Forget You, Rachel.
