I found books when I was going through a hard time in life. They became my means of escape when things got bad. I realized quickly how much I loved to take a backseat to someone else's life and watch the journey unfold. That began my journey with books in November of 2012. I constantly had a book open on my Kindle app. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself as a writer, because I never thought I was creative enough. I'm living proof that things will fall into place when they're meant to be. People will make their way into our lives when we don't expect it, setting the path for what we are meant to do. Never give up on people. Never stop taking a chance on others. Someone took a chance on trusting me with her work when she didn't know me from a stranger on the street and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime as our relationship progressed, which led me to editing and writing as well. This is my dream I never knew I had. As soon as I sat down and gave writing a shot, it was like the floodgates opened. Now, I am lost in a world of fiction in my head, new characters constantly screaming for their stories to be told. Continue to dream and to go for them. No one ever found happiness by sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes we have to take risks and put ourselves out there. Thank you for all of your support, and may there be many books to come. XOXO- C

I don't know why, but I didn't like this book as much as the others in this series. Before the 50% mark, I was ready to finish the book, which isn't a good sign.

Karsyn's walls were so high. Her ex had cheated on her and knocked up the girl he cheated on her with, and that gave her massive trust issues. Thank god Fisher was so into her that he got a job on her dad's ranch and stuck around even though she was a bitch to him, otherwise she would probably have been single for the rest of her life. Man, we all need a Fisher in our lives. Karsyn didn't deserve him.

I'm not sure I'd classify this book as erotica, but there were a good number of sex scenes with some kink (choking, anal mostly).

Also, I really thought they were all going to England to visit Fisher's brother who was getting stationed there?? Then I was really confused when they just went to Fisher's house. Also, did Foster get with his best friend at the end? (In the epilogue, they were saying "Foster's wife".)

I thought there was going to be a storm with tornadoes (yes, I was looking forward to that in the book) and then it never seemed to materialize?

Karsyn is a woman who has been hurt and because of this her walls are high and she thinks that no one will get past them. Having one night stands is easier than letting someone in. This country girl won't be made to look like a fool again.

Fisher is a jock with a heart of gold. From the moment he sees Karsyn he is interested. He is interested in more than just her body, he wants everything. However, being a quarterback is not in his favor with Karsyn. He has to prove to her that not all people are the same and being into football has nothing to do with the man that he is.

This book was hard to read in parts and I mean this in a good way. Karsyn was so hurt that in the beginning she was SO mean to Fisher. It took the longest time for her to see that he was not her ex. Once her walls started to crack, the book took off. It was hot and steamy and full of emotions. I loved Fisher from the moment I met him. His patience, dedication and corny lines made me a goner.

Fisher and Karsyn . . .

I loved them hard. Fisher is one of the greatest book boyfriends. It's so sweet and perfect, but not at all lovey-dovey in the mushy way. He's a kinky bastard that will make you fall fast and hard.

This book pulls at you heartstrings and at times my emotions were all over the place. I cried, laugh, and wanted to choke a few people. This book was everything different that I needed in a good read.

Oh My!! Where do I even start with Karsyn and Fisher? Charisse definitely hit this one out of the ballpark.
Karsyn is definitely a country girl, got her love for horses from her mother. Karsyn was raised by her widowed father Brad who loved her mother Julie more than anything. Karsyn puts her father before anything she decides to do. Until her daddy had to give her some tuff love. Karsyn was hurt badly in high school by her ex-boyfriend Josh. She had a hard time letting her walls down until the day came she fell head over heels for quarterback Fisher. He got a job on her father's ranch to work for the summer hoping it would help him get closer to Karsyn, It ended up working out in his favor. I fell in love with there story. Can’t wait for more to come :)

I feel like this book dragged a lot. There were a lot of ups and downs that didn't quite feel fluid. One minute, Karsyn has issues because of an ex. Then it's her mom. Then it's a really weird thing about trying to be a stand in for her mom to her dad. I didn't hate the story but between the constant block paragraphs with long rambling speeches, a lot of background that never really felt relevant... it was an okay read, but I found myself skimming a lot. It felt kind of like when you're overexplaining your point, so you go in this big circle trying to be clear but the point gets lost by the end?

Karsyn was also a huuuge pick-me girl which made her childish attitude ten times more annoying. She reads like she's meant to appeal to men as a sexual fantasy more than a heroine for other women at times. She slut-shames, but slept around. She hates girly stuff, but she's good at all of it. She can't do feminine things without incessantly reminding us that she's really a tomboy who's too good for this girly crap... she's somehow had sex with multiple partners but maintains the innocent air of virginity.

She grew up on a ranch and isn't able to handle foals dying without massive breakdown tantrums? She runs off crying constantly whenever anyone calls her on her bullshit. By the end, I wanted to root for her but it's hard to even like her. She put Fisher through absolute bullshit. And in the end when he goes home without her, he was gonna just... let her. Made a big speech about how he wasn't gonna settle for half measures. But then said he'd agree to half measures just to keep her?

I also don't like that literally everyone defends Karsyn or comes in to clean up by rationalizing her to Fisher. If they're his friends, someone should have been slapping sense into HER.

Like I said. I've read worse. But I wouldn't read it twice. Nor am I gonna pick up from this author again. The sexism about "REAL men" and pick me girl stereotypes was so off putting the entire book.

Have you ever started a series and decide then and there that the couple in that book will be your absolute favorite couple of the series to only realize how very wrong you were as you continue the series? Well, as much as I absolutely love Breyson and Kinzleigh....which I do, they don't hold a candle to Fisher and Karsyn.

Karsyn has had her fair share of heartbreak. When your world falls apart at a young age, what do you do? Well, you harden your heart and make sure that no one can make it past that reinforced wall you have it hidden behind, obviously. But....what happens when you meet a man that drives you insane, and gets on your last nerve? Well, Karsyn better figure out the answer to that really quickly, because Fisher has his eyes on her.

Fisher is every girl's dream guy; tall, dark, handsome, and a football god with NFL prospects. What's not to love? Well, Karsyn can think of plenty. Fisher has to find a way to show Karsyn who he is, and shatter that wall around her heart....but is there time, and is he strong enough?

I absolutely loved this book. Fisher and Karsyn have become one of my very favorite couples in my very long history of reading. I can't imagine not reading their story over and over. Karsyn is snarky and hard headed, and absolutely amazing. Fisher is loyal, and determined, and literally every woman's dreams. Believe me ladies Fisher has something for everyone.

Mrs. Spiers has done it again! With every book I find myself fighting to figure out which of her characters I love the most....that's impossible. I would recommend this book to everyone. Believe me you'll love Fisher and Karsyn as much as I do. **Praying I see more of this couple again**

Chasing Fate by Charisse Spiers

Let me start by saying this book will be on my list of best reads of 2018. This was my first book by Charisse Spiers and once I finished I immediately went and purchased the rest of the series.
I was totally blown away by how many emotions this book brought out in me. I absolutely loved Karsyn and Fisher their push and pull , give and take banter will have you laughing, crying, screaming, and wanting to shake some sense in them especially Karsyn. She's jaded when it comes to relationships and love every since her heart was shattered and stomped on by her first love back in high school. Now she's on a mission to dull the pain by sleeping with nameless one night stands. She got her love of animals especially horses from her mother even though she lost her when she was just a toddler. Her dad raised her the best way he knew how to be tough but kind. Fisher appears to be a player and she wants nothing to do with him but things aren't always as they appear. He will do anything to convince her to take a chance on him even working her ranch. Their chemistry was off the charts but their journey was full of bumps along the way. I love when she asked him why her and he told her
"I waited for a girl like you. A girl that's capable of fighting me as hard as loving me. Challenging me as much as supporting me. Fucking me as much as making love to me. A girl that has a mouth on her. Is wild. Never backs down. A girl that makes life an adventure and not a death sentence. A girl that can't be kept in a box. A girl like you."

Oh and Karsyn father will totally steal your heart. His tough love speech was the bomb! A father's love is priceless!

5🌟 are not nearly enough!

I voluntarily accepted an ARC for my honest review.

I heard about Charisse from a friend just a few days ago. This is the fifth book in the series, but the first one that I've read and it definitely won't be my last, I plan on going back and reading all the rest.

This is a story of a strong willed, stubborn, heard headed, loving country girl and a kind, honest, determined football player. When one person is determined to make it happen and the other is determined that its not going to happen who will win?

Karsyn has major trust issues and huge walls built up, she's determined to do everything she can to keep Fisher away. She's set on hating him and making him hate her. She's not willing to put herself out there and get hurt again.

Fisher has wanted Karsyn since the beginning, even when she's doing everything she can to make him hate her.. He just can't stay away. He's willing to do anything and everything to prove that not all guys are the same and that she belongs with him.

Such an amazing book!!

I received an ARC for my honest opinion. This book blew me away. I heard about Charisse from another author and so glad I read this one.

This is the first book in the series I have read. I will be going back to read the rest of them as well.

I loved how strong and vounerable karsyn was! She was done wrong by an ex and had a very hard time putting her Walla down for Fisher.

I loved how Fisher wouldn't let karsyn get away with backing away from him. He always had the most corny lines that in the end made her laugh. This is a story about letting people in and being ok with letting the right people in. Amazing book. I highly recommend! I love seeing damaged characters blossom and that's what this book was all about.

When you fight to love that person hard and she doesn’t give you the time of day.

It’s been awhile since a book got me all angst. Now I’ll say I love Fisher and for that it’s why I gave this rating. Karsyn was too much I get her insecurities and everything but at a point it needed to stop and Fisher was the one that did it.

Where to begin....I absolutely adored this book. Karsyn and Fisher....the chemistry was off the charts. I enjoyed watching Karsyn grow and work through her insecurities in this book and I love how steadfast Fisher was the whole way through. This book is full of angst but also full of a beauty and is an amazing love story. This is one book that I highly recommend.

Frustrating

Two stars for the concept!! This book was infuriating to no end because of Karsyn. I understand pain and how it can fester but dear lord she was the queen of festering. Her anger was her crutch. And over what a heartbreak that happened in high school. Fisher kept giving her chance after chance and she just kept keeping him at arms length while taking the love and comfort he offered. Now of course she realizes her mistake but not before the author writes about useless descriptions about her surroundings and going on detailing her feelings and flashbacks. Everything was repeated. She at least repeated 5 times that her first love in high broke her heart and cheated on her with a cheerleader without using a condom. Then a lot of the book was kinky sex with love mixed in. I finished this book by skipping anything that wasn’t dialogue because honestly this book could have been shorter if the author withdrew on the excessive descriptions.

Chasing Fate is the first book I've read by Charisse Spires. I absolutely loved Fisher! He is definitely the ultimate book boyfriend! He wasn't your typical player until the right girl came around, he wanted commitment and one person to share his life with. Karsyn, I had a love hate relationship with her. I loved her tough, independent exterior, but her hot and cold emotions drove me crazy, especially when it came to Fisher. Their whole relationship was a long cat and mouse game! I wanted Fisher to just get the girl already! I understood Karsyn's behavior, but it was heartbreaking for both of them. Despite all that I loved the storyline and the flow of this book! I definitely plan to read the rest of the series!

Possibly the most drawn out book I have read in a long time!

The story itself is pleasant, the characters believable but it just felt like a never ending story.

Nothing in this book was said in 1 sentence if it could be made into 4.

Slow paced, slightly repetitive and not a huge amount of real content... sorry, but not one for me

Great book with a raw and real storyline. I have already leaned towards novels with a damaged backstory but eventually gets their happily every after. This book gives you it and more.

You’re able to relate to the story. You feel every emotion imaginable. There was moment I wanted to shake Karsyn for the choices she was making bcos of her rocky past. But it just made her even more lovable. She was a no nonsense type of a women with a hard exterior but soft heart. It just took the right man to bring it out of her and love her regardless. Fisher stuck by ‘his women’ no matter what. No matter what she threw at him, and it was a LOT, he was still there, loving her.

“And most of all, I wouldn’t have waited for a girl like you.”
“A girl like me?”
“A girl that capable of fighting me as hard as loving me. Challenging me as much as supporting me. Fucking me as much as making love to me. A girl that has a mouth on her. Is wild. Never backs down. A girl that makes life an adventure and not a death sentence. A girl that can’t be kept in a box. A girl like you”

She carried her past issues around like a dark cloud. But it’s so easily relatable. We all have been hurt. Whether it be intentionally or unintentionally. Someone we’ve loved, whole-heatedly, has hurt us. This book highlights on that fact. But most importantly shows us that is can be overcome.

“...one minute things are great and then you’re back to this shit. Life is what we make of it, Karsyn. Stop hiding behind what someone else did to you. Things work when two people want them to. It’s that simple. There’s no math equation or physics involved. It just works. This shit - me and you - has been building over six months now. I’ve seen the glances. I’ve felt the sexual tension. I know the bitchiness is a cover-up. I’m not just going to go away. I want you and I know you want me. You can lie or you can own up to it and we figure it out and move forward.”

I thing that caught me though, is the fairytale moment. The one us girls see if I’m movies and hope for in real life. Where the man is staring at the women with this stargazing look. So full of love. But the women never notices because she is looking at something else. There’s a lapse in time when he realises how far gone he is in love with her.

We all hope that a man would look at us like that one day.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”
...
“I’ve always looked at you like this. You’ve just never paid attention.”
Her lips straighten a little, her smile temporarily gone. “That was my loss.”

We forget that in these movies, the girl is always looking away when it happens.

Love, love, love! Definitely recommend!!

Karsyn Davies & Fisher Austin's story

Standalone novel. No particular reading sequence with the main series. These are a few of the things I like. I don't feel as if I am missing something by not reading the entire series in order. With that said - What a read! Betrayed and heartbroken Karsyn is a cowgirl ambitious to become a veterinarian, she didn't expect the persistence of one determined college quarterback Fisher. However seeing Karsyn cope, adapt and mature was rewarding. Overall she seemed unlikable but we knew what was causing to her behavior. Fisher is swoon worthy by being a gentleman in public and a link freak at night. Really enjoyed this book. The two epilogues make a sweet and happy ending.

Choose your kink

The sad broken heart and struggles with jealousy and trust that Karsyn has are something I think a lot of us can relate to. The way she hides from commitment and denies herself happiness because she thinks she doesn't deserve it strikes a deep seeded cord. When she finally allows herself to love and be loved again it is an amazing wash of excitement. The kinky, steamy intimacy that she shares with Fisher is something out of a dream, a very wet one. I love this book and would gladly re-read it or recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, hot romance with a great story behind it.

After finishing Breyson and Kinsleigh's story I was too excited to start Konnor and Presley's that I skipped Karson's story. Karson is a firecracker but she's been hurt in the past and that's the reason why she is guarded when it comes to relationships. I really love the country girl vibe she had going on. It was a sweet and sexy love story. I gave it 4 stars only because Carson drove me crazy at times. Her inability to commit annoyed me. I didn't like how she went about certain things.

All in all, it was a good read. I'm happy I gave it a chance. I love the fate series!!!

This book was an enjoyable read, although it was quite long and there were noticeable spelling and editing errors. My biggest irritation was if the author intended to set her novel at a horse breeding ranch, she should at the very least have looked up the correct word and spelling for a baby horse! Dozens of times a foal was referred to as a “foul”. How this mistake could have been made sooooo many times and not picked up in editing is downright embarrassing!

Holy Inner Dialogue

Wow… between descriptions, inner monologue and memories and let’s not forget how many times the past incident was brought up … A LOT of words! I am guilty of skimming some sections.. the pull and push between them at first was entertaining, Fisher’s kink, VERY entertaining… Karson’s issues ughhhh!

This was the first book I have read from this author. I love when you have a male character that is strong and dominate but sweet and sexy at the same time. As for the female lead, I wish she would have realized her feelings earlier because I really wanted to read more about what happened when they got back to college. Overall a good book though. I will read more from this author.

I finished this with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes because I loved it and I’m gonna miss them. But not to worry, I’ll be back to reread it again. I love the characters, the story line, the dynamic; everything about this book and would recommend to everyone looking for a sweet, emotionally raw and comedic HEA romance.
