Robert Jewett taught for 20 years at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and is currently a Guest Professor of New Testament at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He is the author of Mission and Menace: Four Centuries of American Religious Zeal, and is Theologian in Residence at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bob Jewett's commentary on Hebrews is an interesting read, although like much of Jewett's writing, he takes a somewhat idiosyncratic exploration of the epistle. I enjoyed this commentary as part of several other commentaries I am using to prepare for a Bible study I am teaching but probably would not recommend it as a solo voice. Per usual, however, Jewett challenges the common understanding of the text and asks the reader to consider new possibilities. It was based on his doctoral dissertation so the writing is a little pedantic.
