A girl who can fly sets out to find the parents who abandoned her. As she travels from the marshlands of southern Gaul to the Pirinaeus Mountains, she is befriended by gardiens and routiers, a human troubador, and an elf chevalier, but she is also pursued by a wizard who believes she holds the secret to an ancient power. She must discover the truth about her past if she is ever to have a future.
This is a fun read about a girl discovering who she is. I loved the dialogue and how the characters came to life . The setting of the book was beautiful. The relationship between Talysse and her gnome companion, Detta, is great to experience. You know by the end they will be faithful companions forever. The friendships in the novel are another highlight that I enjoyed reading. Talysse's companions are a nice rag tag group of people. Overall, I liked the unique way the author captured each character through their dialogue. Worth the read!
