I have to give this guy props for writing a book this comprehensive that is actually engaging, interesting, entertaining and informative. This is an old-school historical survey approach to history covering a Massive subject and it goes down real well.

The book was written in the 20s and has been updated recently without suffering "edition trauma". The author's voice is kind of "wise old sage" and man, this guy knew a lot about India, ancient texts, modern histories and how to differentiate myth from history.

If you would like to know a lot about Indian history fast, this is a good place to start.

And let me say something about Indian history - its a mindbender and there's more of it than there is American History, I think.

An entertaining & engaging book, that deals with historical names, places and dates. If this book is still viewed as an authentic "history" book, then Stephen Knight should be accepted as the sole authority regarding Jack The Ripper!
