Wasted opportunity. The Historian who did the research died, and it was put together into this slim, lazy volume by another historian. Chapter 5, which focuses on newspaper accounts, is where the two stars come in, it collects some good research, and good quotes pepper the book, but the other chapters don't really draw any conclusions and make unsupported assertions that misrepresent basic facts of Russian history. Surveys 56 newspapers in order to determine American opinion but...it's a big country, talks about 6 labor papers and the AFL to determine that labor opposed the revolution, a shame that this is the only book specifically about US responses to 1905.
