Memory is a strange thing...For a long time I couldn't find this book and I couldn't remember the exact title either and when I searched for 'Toby' and 'Toby, short for October', I found all kinds of books but not this one unfortunately. Today I searched 'Toby growing up with her grandmother' and was lucky enough to find it and its predecessor! (I have this review to thank for this: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...)
Now that i was able to borrow it, I now remember reading this book before its predecessor: Toby Granny and George... probably because I found this book at the local library first. Then i read Toby Granny and George and I never found the third book. This was a looong time ago...but credits to the author for writing something that remained in my memory for this long as a book i had enjoyed and one I wanted to read again.
I remembered the cover...it has so much character:
