Janet Evanovich is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, the Lizzy and Diesel series, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels and Trouble Maker graphic novel, and How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author, as well as the Fox and O'Hare series with co-author Lee Goldberg.
The author has a very good writing style, which i really did enjoy, with a great sense of humour. It’s her content that totally puts me off. First book with a dumb heroine is fine - you’d think she and the storyline get a chance at being improved upon in the next books. Am at book 5, read the reviews for book 24 and wondered how it took that many books for the criticisms to start coming in. Book 5 was a thoroughly nauseating experience - the author has wasted her talent by churning out repetitive garbage about the “heroine” who gets stupider and sluttier with every book - exploding cars, rooting for weapons in her bag, funeral showings, endless whining, “no shooting!” got very very old at book 4. Dialogues are repetitive, heroine gets hornier with every man she meets, stupider and more irresponsible with every repeated mistake she makes, basically coming across as a sociopathic nympho.
Horrifying to read the reviews on book 24 - she is still at it same old same old after 20 more books.
...wouldn’t be wasting any more of my time on an author who has obviously sold her soul. Too many books are churned out like garbage these days. Forking out money for these simply encourages people who are just out to make fast bucks and insult the intelligence of their readers. Would have given this a negative star rating if possible. What was she thinking.
I bought this one before I saw it was unabridged to listen in audible and the voice is AWFUL! Don’t waste your money. I have been able to find the unabridged in audible yet. I have it in Kindle but it takes me forever to have time to sit and actually read a book.
This was two of a serious of this great character. I admit, I have been a fan of this series for some time now. The drama is so intense and the humor is a great touch to this great series.
Was looking forward to a fun easy-going read when I picked this one up, but turned it out to be a little raw. The Grandma character has grown crazier and more fun to read. Although, having read the first installment in the series, the climax is abrupt and the bounty-hunter Stephanie just happened to find an all confessing serial killer in her apartment. Not much to do for her, not much adrenaline.
I absolutely adore these books. They're fast paced, with interesting plot lines, and are hilarious. Add that with a spunky female lead who blackmails her cousin Vinny into giving her a job as a bounty hunter and the super sexy badass Ranger, also a bounty hunter (who I will always prefer over Morelli) how could you say no?
Who the heck came to the door at the end?????? Was it Marelli? I hope it was Marelli? That Grandma Mazur is a crack up, she makes the whole book. It really is an ensemble piece.
I loved this book HIGH FIVE!! It's the 2nd Janet Evanovich book I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud throughout the book. She's definitely an author I'm going to follow!
I have read all of these books and enjoyed the comedy, romance and suspense in all of them. The earlier books 1-15 are better than the later but still the others are good
