Good book but I found it odd that in this book it said Smoke and Sally didn't have kids but in previous books they had 3 that were overseas. Did I miss something somewhere?

This story, as with one two books back sure seems familiar, but, again, I don't have time to research through my Mountain Man and other Johnstone books to figure out where i read it before. I know I have. I knew what was going to happen to who and the ending. This harkens back to the multitude of flashbacks and just what was going on in the Johnstone Clan camp at the time.

Two things are mostly missing from this book: Treeing a town and flashbacks. Something that the series has beaten to death.

The story is not a complicated one and there are few surprises. The characters are less than typical Johnstone characters. The settings being less described is now the norm in this part of the series.

Based on this seeming to be a repeated story and other parts lesser than average...

Bottom line: i don't recommend this book. 4 out of ten points.

Smoke goes on the warpath with his friend Tom, whose family was massacred by Jack Tatum and his gang. Smoke befriends a young Indian named Quinntanna. The young Indian will have to defend what is left of his village thanks to an evil plan created by Jack and his gang. I won't give any more away but I will say this is another must-read in this great series.

Johnstone uses the same approach in all of his books...Smoke Jensen is challenged and/or threatened and he has to shoot everyone up. A quick read that will let your mind coast.

Very good western series. The story of Smoke Jensen, trained by the last of the mountain men as a boy. If you like men's adventure and westerns then you will enjoy the series. Recommended

Took too long to get to it. Got bored with all the dialogue.

As usual a terrific book. I always love reading about Smoke Jensen. he always gets the bad guys.
But he is a very caring man. he really loves his wife Sally and i feel sorry for anyone who hurts Sally.
I have read this book before but i can read it over and still enjoy the book.
