Zelda y Francis Scott Fitzgerald

Rate this book

About the author

Kyra Stromberg was a German freelance publicist, writer and translator.
She came from a family of Baltic Germans who fled to Germany a year after the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. Stromberg grew up in Hamburg and Berlin. After studying new languages, he attended the Lettehaus in Berlin, where she received her first photographic training. She later qualified as a photojournalist and worked as a photographer in a small studio on Berlin's Budapester Straße. After World War II, she earned her living as a correspondent for the magazines that had just been established, and that is how she came to Baden-Württemberg. Since the 1970s, Stromberg lived in Ehrenkirchen near Freiburg im Breisgau as a freelance journalist for newspapers, magazines and radio. She published essays and feature articles on writers and cultural topics of all kinds; in addition to fiction, she was particularly interested in architecture and design.
Stromberg became known for her biographies of Djuna Barnes, Zelda Fitzgerald and F. Scott Fitzgerald. With her important biography of Djuna Barnes, she made a decisive contribution to the reception of this author in Germany. During her career, Stromberg translated more than 40 books into German, including works by John Berger, Joanne Greenberg, Muriel Spark, Edith Wharton and Virginia Woolf. She was a critic of 20th century Anglo-Saxon literature in particular.

Kirglikust seotusest hoolimata kaugenesid nad teineteisest aina enam. F. Scott Fitzgerald suri 44-aastaselt. Zelda elas – peamiselt psühhiaatrite järelvalve all – temast kaheksa aastat kauem. Alles ravialusena söendas ta kirja panna oma ainsa romaani «Save me the Waltz»
