This was book 3 in the "Shifter Surrogate Service". This book was a little confusing at first it's called Bear's Surrogate but then he turned into a cougar when I went back there it it was changed to bear only they forgot to change bear into cat. Lorna came to Hollywood to follow her dreams only it hasn't happened. When a Hollywood big shot wants her to audition for him on her knees in his hotel room she refuses and is blacklisted she signs up to be a surrogate. Buck is looking for someone to have a second child with his wife died a few years ago he is not looking for a relationship. These two bond fast over writing a movie script. I also liked how C. J. Bucks four year old daughter took to Lorna. This was a good story once you get past the confusion. This book did have a few errors in it. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

From my omnibus review:
Basically, this was a pretty bad read. I was sick and it was there, so...

All of the stories have the same story line and the characters are close to being 100% interchangeable. I was flabbergasted when I saw the ratings for this one. Goes to show it takes all types for the world to go 'round. It also shows that GR ratings mean jack-all.

Here’s the formula: girl is shit broke. Boy is shit rich. Girl is in shit situation because of a fuckboy. Girl gets recruited to be a surrogate for a crapton of money IF she fits the necessary DNA profile AND she stays with the boy for the duration of the pregnancy. The relationship goes “from 0 to 100 real quick” and suddenly they are in love. The end.

This one stars a girl who wants to be an actress/model but she's too hot - she's more Kate Upton than Gwen Paltrow (rolls eyes). She gets offered a gig but she gets Weinsteined instead. Harvey Dallas also gets her blacklisted. Career done. She gets offered the surrogate job and SURPRISE! the boy is a famous retired director. Follow rest of formula above.

I'm giving this book 1 star because it is called Bear's Surrogate YET the main character is a COUGAR. End of story.

Rewrite the Future

Normally , I enjoy reading books written by Sky Winters but this one I would have to say was not my favorite

The author did a pretty good job on providing the character Buck Wilson with a detailed history which made him realistic in the book.

The character Lorna for me wasn't as well developed so I felt that she was lacking I never got a real sense of her character.

Even though this book was not one of them her best as far as I'm concerned it still wasn't a bad story. If you've been enjoying the surrogate series one bump in the road is no reason to abandon this series read it you still get a sense of the characters

I didn’t enjoy this book that much. I feel that it was rushed. They also said it was a bear shifter book but then said they shifted into cats. That might be something you want to check before publication. Quite disappointed. I might take. Break before I read the last book in this box set.

Bear's Surrogate is book three in The Shifter Surrogate Service series.
This is a younger female older man romance about Lorna an aspiring actress whose career never took off and it doesnt help that she has been blacklisted by a producer who wanted sexual favors from her which she refused to cast her in his next movie.
Buck is a legendary director who has been living in seclusion but now is looking for a surrogate that will give his daughter a sibling.
When Buck meets Lorna he soon realises that what really he needs is a mate, friend and lover not a surrogate.

Unfortunately this book didn't grow on me like the other two in the series. Normally Sky Winter's books are full with typos that i normally skim past and forgive because the story is just too good to be bothered by them, but this time they took precedence over the story and the fact that i was expecting a Bear shifter instead of a cougar didnt help too.
The story started of with full steam ahead and half way through lost its steam.

Another meh

What I liked - I liked the absolute blending of the family with C.J. being loved by her new sorta step-mom as if she were her own. That's how it should be. I liked the overall story and the relationships between most of the characters.

What I didn't like - All 3 books in this series were very very similar - guy makes sure girl knows they have a business relationship and nothing more, guy gives in and kisses girl and regrets it, girl gets upset and tells guy it's no big deal and she knows they onky have a business relationship, guy apologizes, they have sex, guy pulls back again, guy declares love to girl when he comes to his senses. The conflict, setting, and character names are different in each, but they're so so alike. The punctuation isdues are pretty bad; the story needs better editing. The relationship feels rushed because of the way the book is written. It's just not done quite right.

Overall - Decent story with good characters, a repetitive story, and bad editing issues.

Best so far. I really enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the characters. Much more development of characters and story. These are short novellas but this flowed so much better and left no questions by the end of it. I loved Buck he was really sweet and good to Lorna. I do wish the author would change up the order a little. All these books seem to flow the same and have the same kind of story with small different details. There was no conflict in this story either. Not that there has to be. Lorna was hell bent on telling Buck he should have done something about Dallas Dalton when he was the IT guy in Hollywood. Everyone knew the kinds of things he did but didnt do anything remind you of anyone?
Then at the end she was not part of the lawsuit and I just found it funny how she reprimanded Buck but wouldnt be part of the lawsuit. She still told her story but still I found it ironic.

Ok, I admit that a well done shifter romance is, frankly, like catnip with me as the cat. I just love it. Happily Sky Winters is an expert at preparing precisely this sort of catnip, Exhibit A being her new book, Bear's Surrogate, which is book 3 in her most excellent (lShifter Surrogate Service series. Seriously, this book is just yummy. You can get a perfectly good summary in the publisher’s blurb so let me just add that Lorna and Buck are perfect leads fir this story which has a great plot and castvif supporting characters. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Very hot and a happily ever after

Lorna wanted to be an actress in LA , she was blacklisted because one of the directors wanted her to do sexual favors for him and she refused and she was blacklisted ,she was desperate to pay her rent so she went online and found ssurrogate program for shifters which she didn't know they were shifters that's where she meant buck he was a former director in Hollywood and he wanted another child for his baby girl to not be so lonely and have a sibling with no strings attached one thing led to another very hot sensual toe-curling very magnificent story you definitely don't want to miss I definitely recommend this book Miss Winters did it again absolutely fabulous book

I really enjoyed this story of Buck and Lorna. Buck is a panther looking for a surrogate, so he can give his daughter a brother or sister. Lorna is a want to be actress, but when she gets a 2nd interview with the director, he wants more then just a interview. He ends up blackballing her from the industry. Lorna decides to go for this since she has nothing left. Will she be able to conceive? Will his daughter accept her at the house? What will happen between Buck and Lorna? What feelings does Buck feel for her? I did only give this a 4 star due to the book looking and saying it was a bear, not much about his panther, and a couple parts in the book seemed to be the same as part of another book of Sky Winters.

Cat or bear?

I don't know who edited this book, but the main character is referred to as a cat multiple times, as is his daughter. The title says bear. Color me confused. But he only shifts once and his daughter never does, so it's not really even relevant to the story.
Also, in the series to date, there are a lot of misused words and typos that just threw me out of the stories. For example, "vile" instead of "vial" for a lab sample. Spell check only goes so far, you have to know what the words mean or you say something totally different than what you set out to say.
These are cute little stories, but except for the initial hook, aren't really about shifters at all, and they need another editing run through.

“Bear's Surrogate” is the third book in the Shifter's Surrogate series and just like the others this story captivated me from the beginning. Lorna is a beautiful aspiring actress who has been blacklisted because she refused sexual advances from a famous director. Buck is a handsome, wealthy, single dad, cougar shifter who wants another child but not a mate. Desperate for money and a place to live Lorna, decides to become a surrogate. Right from the beginning there is electrifying chemistry between Buck and Lorna. “Bear's Surrogate” is an engaging story and marvelous romance that you must read. Don't miss out.

Again great book,

KINDLE UNLIMITED purchase

Again a great book, but missing something... Lorna became Buck's surrogate and like the rest of the series BAM fel in love.. cookie cutter book... Book one had some drama with the female character getting kidnapped.. (but even that was "taken care of to fast") book 2 just like this one had no drama.. nothing to pull a reader in beyond the romance... It felt like it was rushed at the end she had the baby story over... But still a 5 star rating because I still felt how they were in love... How CJ and Lorna's relationship was special.... I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a short read.

Great book!!

This is the 3rd book in the Shifter Surrogates series, and I loved it! This is the story of Lorna, an actress finding work due to a director verbally assualted her and blacklisted her so she can't find work. She's visited in the hospital, car accident, by the Surrogates Program due to her blood matching the shifter in need of a baby.
Buck already has a little girl.
The chemistry between Lorna & Buck makes this a steamy book! Highly recommend this series? Sure hope the author is typing away on the next one! Can't wait!

Dissappointed

This story wouldn't have been so bad if the author could keep the story straight. Was this about a bear or a cat? At the beginning it said bear shifter and the one and only time in the story that he shifted, it was brief and he was described as a 3 ft high and 8 ft long green eyed bear then the next page after he changed back, he was blue eyed and he was described as a cat. ??? His daughter was even said to be a cat. I thought the title was Bear's surrogate? No suspense or romance, it was just a quick paced blah story.

Not what it seems

Bear’s Surrogate is the third book in the series Shifter Surrogate Service by author Sky Winters. Ok so the title is a bit of a misnomer - however this does not effect the work. Sky Winters is a talented and gifted writer and it shows in this book!!
BS, is a incredibly entertaining tale- filled with a bit of angst, laughter and hope. It’s about letting go and trust. Once you get past the title you’ll definitely enjoy the read!
Enjoy!!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

An enjoyable story. Apart from the fact that Buck is a Cougar not a Bear, it is an Interesting storyline with strong independent characters which makes this a book not to be missed. Buck and Lorna are from two different worlds but when he sees how much CJ is attached to Lorna, his whole attitude changes and sparks start to fly. I am enjoying this series very much and recommend it to lovers of shifter tales.

Shifter Surrogate Service, Book 3.

An enjoyable book with likeable characters. Lorna is a struggling actress, blacklisted for refusing a director. Buck is a retired Hollywood hotshot. Although he's listed as a bear in the title and in the blurb , in my copy he was a cougar, a typo I expect! Although a little confusing it didn't really impact the plotline! In all another enjoyable read from Ms Winters.

I received an ARC of this book and have happily given this honest review

I am a fan of this author, however, this book missed a bit of the action and excitement of her other works. I did love the way Lorna and CJ meshed from the beginning and didn't have an awkward "getting to know you" period. I did notice that the fact that Buck was a cat and not a bear bothered a lot of readers, but that was not an issue with me. I love shifters of all persuasions. I will look forward to the next story.

I liked this story

I felt it was wrong how Dallas Dalton treated Lorna but its believable because that's the world we live in where people think its to harass women and if she or other decides to speak out they're told nobody would believe them about it. I'm glad that Buck,CJ and Lorna and the new baby made a family in the end. And its true that Karma comes around and bite you when you least expect it and bite you ten times harder.

Good read if haven’t read previous

This is third installment and it’s pretty much same story shifter man needs surrogate human women with certain traits to gVe baby. Science done she’s pregnant and oops they fall in love and happy ending. All three would be great on own but given as series not worth what I paid for as storyline is almost action for action same.

Color me confused.
The cover has a bear and I went into this book thinking the hero is a bear-shifter then presto, he's a cougar and his daughter is going to be one too!

Original plot setup, kinda pulled from the headlines - actress faces traditional casting couch audition and gets blacklisted for refusing. Short on funds she agrees to become a surrogate.

Serious editing required.

This was a ok read. It fell a little flat for me. There wasn’t enough “issues” for them to overcome I guess and I didn’t really feel the connection like I should but this is all just personal preference. There were inconsistencies too. He’s supposed to be a bear but his daughter would have turned into a cat? That didn’t make sense.

Outstanding.

Another hot story from Sky. Be homeless or have a baby. Lorna decided to have a baby. Buck thought this was the way to go than have a relationship. Could it be more?

Not a Bear....

The story was good just the title kinda threw me off. Says Bear's but story says cougar. But no matter the animal the man was good. And the storyline with a child already in the picture was actually good.

I am loving this series. I realised that the Bear was a Cougar, but that didn't take away from reading about 'Buck' and Lorna. Very in the now story, especially with the Hollywood issues we are seeing in the news.
Lovely romance between the two and the relationship with Bucks young daughter.

Entertaining and enjoyable read

I have enjoyed the other surrogate books, but this one was just okay. It failed to capture my attention fully. The ending felt really rushed and incomplete to me. Also it was really confusing with the book title not matching the storyline.
