Hard as hell was just the beginning… Keira Swanson’s life has undergone enormous changes. From a shaky start of being a spoiled rotten trust fund beeyotch, she now she risks her very life for dead people. Yes, helping the dead move on can get you killed. Things are about to get harder.
Her feud with Cora Gaines and the enigmatic Illuminata for custody of Esther is about to get thrown under the bus. There are now bigger stakes than Keira’s desire to become a mentor to a fourteen-year-old girl.
Without warning, she learns that the world is on the brink of annihilation; and the only person who stands a chance of preventing this is her.
Seriously? Umm… pretty much. She has to draw on all of her abilities, lean on support from her loved ones, and turn enemies into allies for even a slim chance to pull this off.
Time is running out—fast! She’s not nearly as powerful as she needs to be. The harder she tries, the greater the cost she bears.
When new adversaries appear with a global reach and web of influence that’s ominous, she’s derailed.
To make matters worse, trusted friends become treacherous enemies. Facing her biggest challenge yet, Keira learns that the truth can break your heart. It’s the end of everything she’s ever known.

I am sorry I hope this will be the last book. Too much repetition from book 1 to three and too much boasting about being a millionaire it gets very old very fast.
The finale of Michelle Dorey’s Mystical Veil series did not disappoint! So many times the “finale” can seem rushed, or have a “cut-and-paste” feeling as the author tries to tie up too many loose ends; Dorey’s, however, never gives that feeling. Each book in the series seems to ratchet up the action and the suspense more than the book before, and while this one has less “action” than its predecessor, it makes up with edge-of-your-seat suspense. After all, the fate of the world is at stake! I find Dorey’s writing style engaging and natural. Her main characters in all of her books are like people you would know, or one can see in themselves. Keira is a New York Millennial, who has been thrust into a most anti-millennial role: sacrificing all of her own desires to help others, even people - and spirits - who do not want her help. Yes, she is resentful, but she realized early in the series that it is not all about her. In this finale, that sentiment is magnified as she is fighting to help literally everyone, risking her own life and the lives of those she loves. By this finale, the “horror” of Keira’s role as a type of medium is second-nature to her readers. Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, Dorey gives you characters and storylines that set aside your beliefs and, instead, take you along for the ride. New twists are added in each book, ramping up the paranormal suspense, and in this finale, shocking revelations are revealed that tie up all of the loose ends in ways that will surprise the readers. In all, the Mystical Veil series is fun, captivating, and suspenseful - good reads that you cannot put down - and Ascendant lives up to the bar set by the rest of the series. I will read these books again and again!
Just when you thought the books couldn’t get any better
Once again. This book is amazing. It’s is full of adventure, twist and turns, and great reveals throughout the book. I’m very sad the series is over. The characters have already done everything, but who knows, we can always hope Michelle can come up with ideas about future or past generations.
When you read the entire series, you can understand why Kiera acted like an entitled, spoiled, rich kid in the beginning. She was very irresponsible, however, her “true” nature still shined through In a lot of her kind actions . Her personal adventure in growth and maturity is well thought out and planned. All the character development is well written, and will leave you with tears, laughter, love, and joy in your heart.
Hopefully when you complete the series you will learn that happiness and love can conquer all. Love and faith are at the heart of these books.
So the first three I enjoyed. This one I finished only because I was looking forward to it, and then was disappointed when instead of sticking with the actual genre, the writer decided to make it that our current president, who I support and voted for as did over 62million other Americans, couldn't stop a nuclear war with North Korea! The same POTUS that just had a peace agreement signed by Kim J! Then to say the USS NIMITZ was sank in the South China Sea? Afraid not Michelle because it's docked for repairs through next year. I know because our son serves on that boat. I just want to read good stories taking me away from haters of our president, haters of conservatives, and relax taking my mind someplace else. Not here, not this book!
This is the last in a series of four books. The plot is great and the experience of the characters and the adventures they go through are very fun to read The only reason it is not getting five stars from me is because of simple editing mistakes. There is one character in the book that changes in age from 12 to 14 quite a few times and mistakes like that drive me insane. I do intend to follow this author and read everything she ever puts out! Her books are enjoyable and are direct and to the point. There were surprises in each that came out of left field that totally had my jaw drop. Most of the time, I can predict where an author is going with things, but not this gal! She truly has a story telling gift!
It was a disappointing end to a good series of books
I have read the entire series and loved the other books. This one was disappointing in that suddenly the entire series ends and ends with this book. The end of the world/Armageddon theme that was brought in was too far fetched. I was disappointed that it was only half of the book and that another series from this author was the other half. I just couldn't get into the second book so I skim read it to finish the whole book. I'm sad to see the good series with Keira end this way after being excited when I finished the first book and moved on to read the next.
I cried at several parts but Devons dying had me really in tears. I love the way Michelle makes her people come alive. It's like I know them and want to hang out with them. I'm sorry. She has ended the series but maybe an Esther series could be forthcoming with camios of Kiera . I would suggest this series to all my friends of all ages. Thank you for a wonderful time. Carol Harlan, find me on facebook.
You need 20 more words for some reason. Well, I look forward to new books from you. You are amazing.
The world is safe because America still has its nukes....
Bit weird that the one nuke that started it was countered by hundreds yet none of these lot where even slightly concerned that the American subs hanging off the coast would be used to send that first one.... ye know cos the evil forces where deep in the American side?? Would have been more realistic if all nukes where destroyed, she’s supposed to be ‘the one’, surely this should have been the point to show it, that point didn’t really happen. Meh!
Ascendant: New Adult Paranormal Suspense BONUS EDITION (The Mystical Veil Book 4)
This book is amazing. It’s is full of adventure, twist and turns, and great reveals throughout the book. I’m very sad the series is over. I loved 🥰 every book, my students and I started the series at the same time, but of course I read all 4 books because I couldn’t put them down.. definitely recommend this book 📖 / series📚 !!!
I've totally enjoyed this series and am sad to see it end. It's been very interesting and suspenseful. The entire series has been thrilling and riveting. I've enjoyed all the story lines and characters. Loved the ending! Just the way I wanted it to.
This book was great! I loved the whole series beyond words. This final book made me so happy for the characters Michelle Dorey created ... But sad like ..you never want something to finish but it does ..and I believe something about this series will stay within me forever.
This was so good, awesome, great, wonderful, I loved it. A LOT ! I've never ever read a series of books this fast. Gonna miss Keira, Gwenn, Sean and Roy and the children ... I would love to see Keira back in another trilogy, that would be soo cool. Best series in a long time for me. Thanks Michelle Dorey for such a great read.
If you like fantasy, faires, paranormal witches, etc then you will find this an easy light reading. Think the Author could have expanded the ending a little to tell us what Kiera saw and experienced when the "scales" were removed from her eyes but I guess the Author had to find some way to end it.
This is a greatly fun series, drawing on multiple paranormal traditions to create a new spin Suffice it to say, you truly need to read the entire series, in order, to get the best joy from it. And you will be joyous at the end...this series was a joy to read, from start til finish...I am really glad to have read it, and you will be, too. EXCELLENT! A+++
I loved this series. Everything has been explained and settled for me. Thank you for writing such a great series. I usually don't do romance. There wasn't much in here. I prefer horror. This was great set in modern times. I have read the whole series. I will read the next series the Celtic knot when I have finished more horror.
I'm so sorry to see this series end! This series was really awesome! You get so engrossed with the characters and they are written so well that you really care about what happens to them. There were plenty of surprises but I loved the ending.
Who woulda guessed this outcome!! Love the story and the constant action! Thank you for sharing this story!! My only wish is that it lasted much longer!! Would LOVE to hear more about these two and future adventures!!!! Think about it, please!!!
I really enjoyed this series! I've been having trouble finding books recently that I look forward to getting back to reading, but Ibdefinitly couldn't wait to pick these books up each day. Can't wait to look at what else this author has written!
I had a feeling that Garamond found its way into Gwen. I loved the series, and yes, I cried. I wish it wouldn't end and that you would start a series on Sean and Keira. I have faith!
Michelle out did herself this is an awesome book. Full of excitement and hardly any down time. And an excellent end to a four book series. Enjoy your adventure of the Supernatural through reading 📚. 💘👈🌹❄⛄
I honestly can say I've enjoyed each book in this series. I often got up and read a few pages with my coffee in the morning almost to the point I was late for work lol. Good job Michelle.
I loved following Keira as she grows in her journey between transitioning spirits through the vail and fighting a demon that took over her grandpa and best friend.
I usually only read Stephen King but Michelle Dorey runs pretty close. Absolutely enthralled with her work.love...love...love it.Looking forward to reading more from her.
Keira goes from one exciting moment to another. Helping to save the planet takes a lot out of a girl! With the help of her friends, she saves the day and gets her guy.
I love this book well I All of your books.you take me into worlds I will never see or know thank you tell you what you keep writing them and I'll keep reading them sincerely Christine Dunne Harlingen tx
The ending to a cute little series of books is disappointing at best nothing to recommend this end . The extra book was ok but feels like your cheated into spending money on another set of books
This was great until the las page. Already figured out what Keira was before reveal. Though the last page was disappointing making it a bad ending and kind of a cliffhanger which I always hated. Please do better!
I am loving this series. Young woman helps ghosts pass through the veil. But sometimes there is something evil possessing ghosts, and it must be vanquished before the ghost can pass over the veil. Very interesting storyline.
I read this last book purely just to finish the set of 4. Each book got more child like and immature 🙄 and the writing style was just all over the place. GM should have been kept in for at least the second book.
