Where to begin! Firstly I should learn not to be seduced by ‘so you liked Outlander.. you’ll live this’ blurb. So Mia culpa! And I should also never have expectations of the historical accuracy that my favourite historical fiction writers put into their work ( Graham, Taylor , Gabaldon) .. because it’s never there. But this was particularly irritating. The ‘modern day’ heroine is unlikable from the off. I know she’s the ‘you tube’ generation, but do 23 year olds really describe everything they do as ‘super cute’ My daughters certainly don’t but I’ll accept that Americans might. The ‘names’ of the Scottish characters..Magnus? Really? Orkadian maybe, but 1800th century Scots? Not so much. And Mairaid? Almost as Scots as the badly named Merida in ‘Brave’ although more Irish than Mexican I’ll grant you! Campbell is , ill accept, both a Scottish name and an Argyll clan. But I think the googling of Castles and geography might have got a little confused! There are two Balloch Castles, neither of which are in Argyll. The one cited in the blurb at the back, now Taymouth castle, was indeed owned by Clan Campbell in the time frame, and is also in the highlands ( just), the other... a bit further west.. but neither anywhere near Argyll. Saying ..’I’m from Argyll, south of the Tay, is a bit like Orlando , south of the Potomac! Small details matter if your after the ‘Outlander ‘ posse! The random breaking into Gaelic... and the confusion of Gaelic and lowland Scots .. ahhh.. plus, a Scot who grew up in London wouldn’t have a Scots accent, however dodgy. And last but by no means least.. NO ONE FROM THE UK, PAST OR PRESENT, CALLS AN ARSE AN ASS! An ass is a small horse like thing, not someone’s behind! At the ‘verra’ least get this bit of language correct! Had this been a YA novel, and I understand the author writes in that genre too, I could have let some of this slide a bit, but as a story aimed at grown ups.. not so much. Saving grace.. took me an hour to read and was on KU. Not a comparable novel to Outlander so if that’s what you’re after, keep moving.. nothing to see here!
Freaking loved this book. Yes, there was some silliness to it and it was far fetched in some places... But when it boiled down Magnus Campbell was hella hot & romantic despite finding himself 300 years into the future in of all places on a Florida with his mother Lady Mairead. Kaitlyn is somewhat of a ditz but when she meets Magnus & his mum albeit after they materialized out of a Freakish storm while she was skinny dipping, something about him just keeps drawing her back to him.
There’s a little bit of everything in this story. I laughed so hard at times, and others when he’s speaking Gaelic to her proclaiming his love it is word porn worthy.
When she finally figures out his story her love for him has deepened and now no matter how old he is or what century he’s from there’s no going back in the vows she took. Magnus & Kaitlyn are full of passion, desire and hope, which has the reader cheering on the sidelines for a happily ever after through time and space and the laws of nature.

I am a huge fan of time-travel fiction but often times authors seem to follow the same tired formula which works but becomes predictable after a while. This book wasn't one of them.
There were unexpected twists and turns. Kaitlyn is a realistic character that while flawed and having humiliating situations, has a core group of imperfect friends that are there for her when it matters most. I will admit that I was a little turned off by the constant alcohol drinking, I had to stop and think "did I drink every day in my early 20's?" and while I didn't, I did remember enough people that did so I just chalked this up to getting old and was able to move on and enjoy the story.
Warning, the ending does have a cliffhanger, it's not a big one that made me want to scream, it was actually a decent stopping point but I am hanging enough that I hope that I don't have to wait long for the next installment.

Mystery, time travel, and romance. What's not to love? This juicy page turner left me wanting more. I very much enjoyed most of the characters, and, by seeing them through the eyes of Magnus the Highlander, was able to better tolerate some of the others. I especially enjoyed seeing today's self-made youtube celebrities and their antics feature in the plot. The main character, Kaitlyn, is unerringly kind and very smart, both excellent qualities that kept me reading. I enjoyed her relationship with her best friend, too. I didn't get some of her thinking or antics, but she's 23, so I'll cut her some slack.

This book has a different take on the Scotland time travel sub-genre that has grown since the popularity of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon took off. In this case, the H comes to the h in the present time during a severe, freak lightening storm and lands (with his mother in tow) in Amelia Island, Florida. They appear to realize that they are not in their time, which leads the reader to believe that they know they are in and have purposefully come to the future. There is a lot of the "what's a car?" and "we are not welcome on the lands of Donald" when offered a meal at Mickey D's :) -- it's amusing to see our current lifestyle and technologies through the eyes of someone from hundreds of years past. This book appears to be the first in either a set of 2 or possibly a series; I did not realize that until I got to the end of the book and realized it stopped in an unlikely place.
What I liked: - the different take of the hero coming to the heroine in today's world - the character of the hero - he seems kind, interesting, genuine, thoughtful, and self-assured in a modest way - the mystery of why he was here (and why his mother was with him) and how he arrived
What I didn't care for as much: - the heroine comes across as self-pitying - the h also appears to be very fickle with men --- she has a fiance she was just jilted by at the start of the book and is hooking up with an ex when we first meet both the H and the h... not sure why both men are important to the story (maybe it is revealed more in the later book(s), but it makes the romance with the H of the story a little less special because the h seems to just jump from man to man - parts of the story seemed to drag a little in places, and certain aspects of the story didn't seem to really need the level of attention and/or detail given them (again, it might be that they have more relevance later on, but I can only comment on the book that I have read)
Overall, I did enjoy it. The H is likable enough to make up for the h's shortcomings, and she is a better person with him once they get together. I would definitely like to read the next installment and see where things go from here.
Story -- 3/5 Male Main Character -- 4.5/5 Female Main Character -- 2/5 Other Characters -- 3/5 Steam --- 2/5 Language -- Not egregious Violence --- 1 fight scene between the H and his enemies towards the end but not graphic in description

This is an amazing story. I love the idea and the way the story develops. My only issues are with Kaitlyn's lack of questioning anything - i mean really the guy couldnt even handle being in a car. But you learn to look past it because really the real explanation is not really even conceivable if it wasn't in a book. When you get over your, 'really that's what she's thinking' you really fall for the characters. Magus is the hero of heroes - not really because he does anything in particular, but his 'alphaness' and at the same time lack of ego, sensitivity, and his respect and admiration for Kaitlyn is very endearing and makes you want to turn the page.
This is one of the best time travel books I have ever read and I truly hope the author plans to continue the storyline! Kaitlyn aka Katie feels she has lost it all. In this millennial society standards she's probably right but who knows what might happen any day? Magnus is fighting to protect is Mother and meets Katie. She is kind to him during his uncertain times. Can they last the tests they need to or will this be another failed relationship for Katie? A seriously riveting story and well told.

This is such a fantastic story about Kaitlyn and Magnus. Magnus and his mother arrived one night in a storm, Kaitlyn was skinny dipping with James when a large storm came out of nowhere. Magnus is dressed in a kilt with a large sword on his back and his Scottish brogue is so sexy I can just see Magnus and hear that accent yummy! There’s action, danger, time travel, love, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. I loved this story and I hope there’s another book after this one because it can’t just end like that, there are so many questions I need answered. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
As my grandmother would have said, “Help that man get his feet under him. So you can climb him like a tree.”
I like Kaitlyn’s grandmother.
Time travel romance where the hero Mangus comes forward to the future. Kaitlyn was sweet, but immature. This is apparently a series so there’s room for growth. But she spends most of her days on the beach or at a bar with her friends. She is recovering from a very public breakup.
Their story was sweet and apparently it’s a long series. If you like time travel romance, you might want to give this one a try.
Magnus is MAGNANIMOUS and Kaitlyn is his match in every way... Time travel from 300 years earlier from Scotland to today’s time... the two meet and fall in love... but can he stay? I can’t wait to find out... I didn’t want to put the book down... I would love this as a movie.... so happy I found this book...
I'm loving this series so far! I enjoy time travel stories and Highlander stories. I can empathize with Kaitlyn's situation and Magnus is kind, gentle, and loving. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Loved it!! Unfortunately the cost to finish this series is out of my reach as I'm newly retired & haven't figured out the financial side. I made excellent money being self taught in electronics but retirement $'s are much different! I'll watch out for a price drop & probably buy the set. I really don't care for serials. I want a beginning, middle & ending when I read!!
Tis nae my usual genre, so I don’t know how it compares to other books in this genre. But I liked the sound of the blurb and thought: why not give it a go? It was so well written I found myself drawn in almost immediately. But…
I never fully connected with Katie. Never really liked her. I found her to be superficial and spoilt, if I’m honest. Uninteresting! Her life only consisted of going out, partying and looking for shark teeth on the beach. That was literally it. She lacked a sense of direction. But, in my opinion, for a long time, the whole story lacked a sense of direction. It started out promising, but it took too long to really form a story. At one point I felt a bit bored, but I’ll admit it got better later on. Suspenseful even! Magnus stayed a bit flat; I’d have liked to have more background on him. More depth. Maybe a few chapters from his POV? That would’ve lifted the story in my opinion.
Twas steamy. Hawt.
The end left me feeling disappointed. Oh yes there’s a HEA, but also a lot of uncertainty about the future. Nothing REALLY decided.
I don’t think the time traveling aspect reached its full potential. Somehow, I had expected more. Turns out twas just nae my thing. Nae more than OK for me.
I would not recommend this to anyone who enjoyed outlander. This book has an extremely young voice more suited to YA and the time traveling bit wasn’t even the most unrealistic aspect. I mean, he doesn’t seem surprised to be thrown into the future and somehow ends up with credit cards and a rental mansion within 12 hours with no proof of who he was and doesn’t even ask where he is! I really wish I could have finished it, but it’s not for me.
It's a good thing I borrowed this through KU; if I had spent money on it, I would be pretty pissed. This is one of a very few books I DNF. I got to 45% before I deleted it from my Kindle. The writing is mediocre, but I can ignore that if the story is well-crafted. Unfortunately, I am really unimpressed.
The protagonist is a self-absorbed, failed YouTube influencer with very little personality. I find it absolutely impossible to empathize with her. She seems to be more concerned with looking “super cute” than with being a decent human being. She has a history of domestic violence--as the aggressor--and shows no remorse. In fact, she expounds upon her perceived justification for attacking her fiancė at every opportunity. And I assume I am supposed to like her. Total fail.
Kaitlyn and her friends (who are mostly flat, one-dimensional characters) drink often and to excess; the first scene has her vomiting on the floor because she is so drunk. The group imbibes on what feels like every other page and I guess their drunkenness is meant to be cute and endearing. And it's really not. At all. Even her parents get fed up with her. Who could blame them?
The ease with which people accept Magnus and Lady Mairead into their world is laughable. Two people show up dressed like Ren-Faire characters, loaded down with gold coins and jewels. They have no clue about any modern day conveniences and Magnus wanders around in a kilt and carries a sword with him everywhere. He is simply welcomed without any suspicion or a single question about his origins.
Kaitlyn simply attributes Magnus’ oddness to their being from Scotland, which she apparently believes is completely disconnected from 21st century life. Lady Mairead needs someone to dress her and nobody thinks that's the least bit strange. At one point, Kaitlyn overhears a conversation in which Magnus discusses killing his stepfather. This doesn’t set off any warning bells with her. It barely seems to register with her at all. Magnus mentions having visited Paris and Kaitlyn actually believes they do not have McDonald's. In France. In 2016. Is she the dumbest person in the entire world?
Her banker father opens an account for Magnus with no ID, based on the value of his gold and jewels--which no one appraises--and provides him with a credit card to use. Seriously? Her realtor mother leases him a mansion with no ID, no background check, and no references. In the United States. In 2016. You've got to be kidding me!
This book is just too farfetched and poorly written for me to waste any more of my time. There's apparently a whole series of novels about Kaitlyn and Magnus... I find that mind boggling! Maybe the series gets better as it progresses? One can only hope! But I will never know...

Some of these reviewers must have read a different book than I did. It is a ripoff of Outlander but in clumsy reverse, and it’s full of terrible clichés, flat characters and plot holes. The main female character is an insecure narcissist and completely unlikable, and she’s surrounded by even worse people. What little there is of plot is mainly crammed in the last few pages. Somewhere Diana Gabaldon is weeping. If you like the trashiest of trashy romance novels, you might enjoy it. Otherwise, steer clear.
The story was very good and kept me interested the whole time.
It was a bit different than most other time travel stories I've read. For one, the time travel was forward instead of back and the "traveler" kept it a secret from all he knew until later on in the book.
I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy reading time travel romance.
This was my first book by this author and, it’s the first of the series. I found out about the books thanks to the ads on Facebook. After a couple of months I finally started to read them and, I found myself highly enjoying them. I am usually a sucker for time travel romances. I was never too much into contemporary romances but as I read this I really don’t mind at all. It was amazing seeing Kaitlyn rise up out of the ashes of the disaster that befell her life. An ex YouTuber and jobless after her boyfriend cheated and she embarrassed herself and never can show her face online again. She goes back home to Florida where her life is thrown into topsy-turvy when a dashing young Highlander dressed up and some weird garb ends up on her doorstep one night. This book mostly developed on the relationship between Kaitlyn and her friends. And, how she was trying to figure out Magnus and his mother. They are strange people and they seem not to know much about anything. But little does she know it’s time travel and they are from the past.
I had to admit I smiled and laughed and felt sadness. I highly enjoyed myself I think I read this one almost in one day. As I said this was more than what I expected it to be. I am an absolute sucker for time travel romance and I’m fixing to head off into book 3. Highly enjoyed this.
So lately I have been finally reading books on my kindle. I read so much and see a book and have to read it, so the one’s on my kindle take a back seat.
I am so glad I finally read this one. I picked this one up because the Scotts are in my heritage and I love history and reading about it.
I loved this story and I really can’t wait to see what happens. I love the mystery and romance. There is something for everyone in this. Kaitlin and Magnus’s story weaved back and forth. I love the old school way that is Magnus; it’s refreshing. The only thing I found hard was reading Magnus’s language. It was sort of comical cause I was literally trying to sound Scottish.
All in all...this was a fantastic story. I can’t wait to continue it.
I really enjoy this book because is a bit different from the other time travel books I have read, where a woman from the present travels back in time or a man from the future comes to the present.
In this book we will see how Magnus, a Highlander from the 18th century, travels to our present where he will meet Kaitlyn. Their love story is kind of different as well, which I quite liked. I am a bit dissapointed with the book ending because it leaves a really open story about the reason why Magnus travels in time, but I guess we will discover it in the second book (I hope so!).

I've read many time travel romance stories where the main character always ended up in the past. It is refreshing to read a story where someone from the past found himself or herself in the future and their reaction to all the modern technology advances. This story was very well written that I could not put it down until the end. Can't wait for the next book!
Magnus is what every girl dreams about. Strong, secure, manly, take charge but leaves the tenderness for Katie. Can you bring more Highlander's to this time period? Put me on the list. Katie didn't have luck with men. All cheaters. Her parents were self centered and money hungry - didn't like at all but maybe that's good so in the next book Katie can go back in time with him.
I love the plot and the storyline. The delivery of it was not quite so great. These mysterious people come out of nowhere and no one questions them off the bat. I do love the character Magnus but Kaitlyn on the other hand seemed selfish and self consuming. Some of the characters just didn’t seem real.. like James and Quentin and Michael. I just wanted more about the story of him as a time traveler instead of how Kaitlyn got drunk and her self loathing.
The writing was amateurish at best. A thinly veiled attempt at an Outlander story. With much difficulty I finished the whole thing so I could 100% say it was a complete waste of time. UGH!
Started out slow but I was drawn in and could not put it down Finally my suspicions were outed and this led me to continue in book 2 ... Incredible storyline quick read and believable characters.
I love the idea that traveling through time is possible. Better yet, that the person we are meant to be with will find us no matter when in time they...or we.. are. Great read!
I feel bad saying this, because if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all, right? And I don’t want to trash anyone’s work, because that’s just mean. But this seems more like a weak plotted YA book, than a serious read for adults in the fantasy genre. I got sucked in by the price (free) and of course, because I love Outlander and am anxiously awaiting the next book in that series, so perhaps I was hoping for something that might fill the void while I wait. Admittedly, there are some plot points, even dialogue that seem like rip-offs of Outlander, and while admittedly, I’ve wondered what Jamie Fraser would be like if he time-travelled forward in time, I’m certain it wouldn’t be like this. None of the characters are particularly likable, largely because there is no character development. The main character seems completely immature which makes it hard to view her as anything other than a kid. Her friends are annoying, even the dashing hero seems very flat. Regardless, it was a very easy read and I was able to get through it in a few hours, and since the next book is also free, I will give the series another chance. Hopefully, the characters will become more likable and better developed, and I expect we will get to the heart of the hero’s back story.
While the main character was young and had a lot to learn, I enjoyed watching her grow in this book and the sequel. Magnus is an awesome hero, with a delightful sense of humor. I enjoyed watching them learn about marriage and the sacrifices and commitment that it requires. The book also addresses friendship and loyalty. The time travel for this book had a different spin by bringing the hero forward.. The alien aspect of the technology was also unique. I can't wait for the third book in the series!!
What a beautiful story! I am so hoping the next book in this series comes out soon....and that there IS another book in this series. I fell in love with the characters. Well, some of them anyway. I wanted to kick a couple in the shins, and maybe even poke one or two in the eye, but overall, I loved getting to know Kaitlyn and her friends as well as Magnus and his mother. This book has love, loyalty, honor, angst, and enough hot Scot to make any day better.
I love time travel stories and usually they are set in the past but this one is set in the future for the Scottish warrior but the here and now for our heroine! This is well written and flows beautifully! My only complaint is that the gang of friends in the here and now are very shallow and superficial! I suppose most in their early 20s are! However, complaint aside, I loved it!
Go read it today!
