A soccer star committed to playing Division I soccer at Brown University, Brittany “Britt” Devries only has three goals for her senior winning states, acing her AP exams, and applying for college scholarships. She doesn’t care if her ambitiousness sets her apart from her peers because she’s got no time for friends or boys. Then she gets assigned to work with a junior midfielder from the boys’ soccer team on a project for AP Psych. As Britt begins falling for Miles, she has to choose between being distanced from everyone as she’s always been and finding courage to open up to change.

For Miles McGowan, the focus during junior year is to get noticed by college recruiters for soccer. In working with Britt on their project, he slowly comes to see the person under the hard exterior she puts on for the world. And even though she doesn’t fit in with his other friends, is too driven, and will leave for college in less than a year, the way she loosens up around Miles makes him want to be friends with her- which is what he says when she confesses her feelings for him. But as the weeks fly by, he begins to realize that maybe he’s fallen for her too and now he must find a way to go after the girl he wants, even though she’s already moved on.

Nice YA novel by S.Mayann. You find yourself rooting for the two main characters. A lot about soccer, which wasn’t my cup of tea. However, it is a nice, self published, first novel for this writer. I wish her every success x

Grab this new author and gave it a go, but this one didn’t work out for me. If you like second chance YA, athlete high school romances give it a try and judge for yourself.

I’ve been a funk for way too long and maybe it’s me and not this story.

So this was a new author for me. But i do love a good story involving high school love! I like the way you get to meet the characters and get to know them. Britt is a discplined girl and has her world all planned out. The one thing she didn't plan was falling in love. I liked the way Britt kept her eye on her goals and adjusting to new thing even though she's not used to it. Miles is a bit harder to get a read on n the beginning but after a while you can't help it but root for the guy! It's a really nice story and i liked reading it! I'm curiuos and excited about the next one!

Cute and nostalgic. The POV shift threw me for a minute, but overall it was a fun summer read!

Super cute, fun read!

Miles and Britt are so stinkin adorable. I love that together they figure out the next steps and communicate before assumptions are made. Good read for sure!
