When Kate Aster was in fifth grade, she wrote her debut novel on a spiral-bound notebook–a science fiction which ended with the tragic destruction of all humanity.
Fortunately, she’s gotten a lot more upbeat.
Now preferring romantic settings and blissfully happy endings, Kate just released her eighth book available on Amazon.
Kate is an avid snorkeler, “beach read” fanatic, and margarita connoisseur. She is so grateful for the support and positive reviews from her readers. Thank you!

Cam is sweet, strong and a good protector. When his friend needs someone to watch over his sweet angel Stella Cam steps up to the plate. Cam's brothers are not thrilled but come around when they fall in love with little Stella.
Annie loves kids and is a temporary resident until she can return to the mainland. She works in a daycare and is looking for some extra work in the side as a nanny.
Cam runs into Annie and when Stella comes he needs Annie's help.
Annie is loveable, scrappy, and resilient.
Annie and Cam form a strong bond and friendship and the attraction can no longer be denied. They give into temptation and now they must decide if this is a fling or a relationship.
Good story with a little mystery of Annie's secret.
Cute, but I wished the little girl, Shelly, didn't feel as much like a prop. She hardly ever spoke, most of her appearances were through Annie or Cam's pov where they made a passing comment of: Shelly's asleep, in daycare, with the brothers, etc. For someone who was meant to turn Cam's life around, she didn't have that much of a presence - or character.
It took longer than I wished for Annie to spill the beans - or for anyone to spill the beans, really, because it took so long for it to come out. And their resolution was a little too simple to me.
So I thought FAKING IT would be the last book in the Homefront: The Sheridans series, but it turns out I was wrong. In A IS FOR ALHPA, we meet three of the Sheridans’ cousins: Camden, Fenway and Dodger. Yes, their parents named them after baseball stadiums. Sick of being known as the “other” Sheridans, they moved to the Big Island to get away from the rich and successful side of their family.
A IS FOR ALPHA was an easy and average read for me. Both Camden and Annie are likable characters, but there isn’t anything about them that stands out. The same could be said for the story, because even though it’s only been a few days since I read it, I’m struggling to remember what happened. What I remember most is how often Annie alluded to something that happened to her on the mainland. Something so bad it forced her into hiding on the Big Island. I remember it because I was already annoyed by the repeated teasing at the 35% mark, before the incident was finally revealed at the 60% mark.
A IS FOR ALPHA is told in dual POVs, comes with a sweet HEA for Camden and Annie, and while it is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Will Fenway and Dodger get their own stories? I’m not sure. Would I read them? Yeah, I think I would.
Kate, mahalo nūi...I am so proud & so in love with this story! I am even more excited that you've chosen my Motherland Hawai'i Nei for its location. I am also proud of the way you have expressed & defined our language & for the record, your spelling was impressive! (Made it really easy for me to pronounce LOL) I look forward to your continuance in this series with Dodger & Fen's stories. Please take bow & pat yourself on the back...HANA HOŪ (Bravo)!
This is an enjoyable romance in a lovely setting. It does have graphic sex which I don't enjoy, but the wonderful characters and the development of the love story are very entertaining.
Camden Sheridan, One hot, sexy Ex Ranger who believes in no commitment, Just like his two other brothers. Which is why they live in their bachelor pad of one night stands. They don't lie about the lack of commitment but know they will get the women in the sack regardless. When you have a doctor, EX Ranger & current Ranger. You cannot go wrong. It's not bad that they have the Sheridan name, though they don't follow along with the family business like their cousins. They live on their own terms, means & success. Until Camden is now obligated to take care of his Ranger Brother's 4 yr. old Daughter Stella. While He is deployed for a couple of months. His brothers are not happy about losing their bachelor pad. Camden doesn't know how to take care of kids. Which is why he needs to get a babysitter. He works at night as a bartender. What do you do with a 4 yr old? Well not only did the Sheridan brothers step up to the plate & fall for the Stella the princess. They were more committed to make sure nothing happen to her. She inherited 3 uncles. & a wonderful friend in Anne. Anne met Cam when she snuck in his complex to put baby sitting flyers on their cars. He made sure that she didn't get caught by Campus security. Well, the 1st night with Stella he already needed a babysitter. He couldn't get her out of the room they made from his Dr. brother's office. Anne ran away to Hawaii due to a sandal in DC. Being accursed of sleeping with her boss. She lost her entrance to the best private school to teach, photos of the Senator touching her breast. When in fact that was the only photo that was produced. Not the one that showed her running out of the car to stop him from attaching her. Now she hides on the Island not using name from the tabloids. Arianna Bradshaw. Just plan Anne. She was working in the K-Resort as a child care provider in the hotel while the grown up go out for time away from their kids. Even her co worker & only friend knows she is hiding something but cannot figure out what. Sam her only best friend from DC knows the truth. Even her parents don't keep in touch with her. No one believes her & she can barely survive. She needs all the baby sitting jobs she can get.
Cameron didn't know how to handle Stella & Anne was great with her. But he also didn't know how to deal with Anne. He didn't think he was going to want to get involved with the Nanny. But neither one of them can give into their feelings. Or can they. Will Anne's secret be revealed & Cam believe he is another victims of a Nanny trying to seduce a successful man? Or since he was A Ranger in the Army he knows when something doesn't seems right. There is more to this story then what was splashed across the covers of the tabloids & social media. Read the love story of Anne & Cameron & how a little 4yr. old Girl brought them together. Not to mention once they do get together it's truly hot & beautiful since you have the island as the backdrop.
A is for Alpha is the first book of this series. I enjoyed the overall story and characters. Cam is the typical alpha male and easy to fall in love with. Annie took a little bit longer for me to get attached to. Her secret takes up most of the story and I could not wait for it to get out.
Cam was in the military and discharged due to an injury. He has made a new life for himself along with his brothers in Hawaii. He classifies himself as a love them and leave them type of guy, but he proves otherwise several times throughout this story. One of his closest friends is being deployed and has asked Cam to care for his daughter while he is away. Cam's brothers are not thrilled to have a 4-year-old cramping their style, but all three guys turn out to be so sweet with her.
Annie is a temporary resident in Hawaii. She loves kids and had aspirations to be a teacher at a prestigious school in DC before "the incident" that changed her life. Now she is working at a resort in childcare and is looking for extra work on the side creating her own childcare business. The only issue is keeping her identity secret because once she is exposed, she won't be able to work anywhere.
Cam and Annie meet when she is placing flyers on vehicles in his neighborhood. She should not be there, but he comes to her rescue with security. Once he meets her, he can't help but feel like he has seen her before. Now he needs her services when Stella comes to live with him.
These two form a friendship first, but their attraction starts to take over. They both are not looking for forever, so they start to give in to the temptation of each other. Now Annie has to decide if she can hope for forever and Cam needs to decide if he can commit to more.
I love these two together. The overall story and characters are good. There is friendship, love, and a bit of intrigue mixed in. It was an enjoyable read. ⭐⭐⭐
she is hiding in hawaii, changed her appearance. he and his 2 brothers bought a house to share after they got out of the service. one flies helicopter, one is dr and he is a bartender and has app making money. but his friend is being deployed and his mom had hip operation so she cant take care of his daughter so he has the 4 yr old she is babysitter and he hired her. they both like each other but dont think its a good idea to date while she is babysitter. the little girl likes her
she was accused of having a affair with the married husband senator she was babysitting for. a photo was published, she was really fighting him off in the car but he confessed to the affair and her reputation was ruined
when she told the man she was babysitting for he called the senators wife. she published the other photos showing her fighting him off and her reputation was good
he asked her to marry him and stay in hawaii and she agreed they married. the bonus book showed they went to alaska on a cruise for their honeymoon , already planning for a baby

I wasn't going to buy this book it seemed like such an off shoot of the first three Sheridan books, but , it simply was an awesome surprise! One, the author made a wonderful transition from the brothers Sheridan, to the cousins, and I loved how these men made something of their selves using the US Army! I also loved that the treatment of the hero by the Army was so accurate, widow of a Special Forces, and Ranger here, yep both, special man :(. Secondly, the reason Annie ends up in paradise is as reality everyday for women employees of powerful men, whom abuse it. But, finally, Annie and Camden seem to be perfect,he believes her, as do his brothers and Kaila. Wonderful realistic characters whom all lived real lives, and yet still enough tension and complications to make the story entrancing! Bottom line, I loved the fourth in this series as much as the First three! Yes, I am definitely looking forward to Fen's and Doger's stories, and I still haven't forgotten Kelli's!
3.5 stars. There were 4 star worthy scenes and there were solid 3 star scenes. I’m debating whether to knock this up to 4 stars, though. Cam is an alpha former Ranger turned tech/realtor guru. He is absolutely adorable with Stella. His protective streak is a mile long. Cam and his brothers are the black sheep in the family. Well, as much as the Sheridans can have black sheep. They moved to Hawai’i to separate themselves from the family that everyone knows so they can live their lives in their own right, not in the shadow of their famous cousins.
Annie returns to Hawai’i to regroup, recoup, and remain anonymous until her scandal on the mainland blows over. She is perfect for Cam (who doesn’t do commitment) since she has an expiration date. It is Stella who brings them together. Little by little Cam begins to realize that Annie is running from something, or someone. Can he help her? Should he help her? And what about that expiration date?
This is a fun, heartwarming, and entertaining story. What the heck, Imma gonna go with 4 stars!
...not to mention the romance. With Camden Sheridan - a former Army ranger with the standard issue 8-pack living in the lap of luxury on the big island of Hawaii.
His life is about to turn upsidedown in more than one way, becoming a single dad (he's not the father) when Stella needs a place to stay because her DAD is about to deploy - then here comes Annie, the babysitter.
There is nothing worse than carrying around the burden of someone else's wrongdoings. Flashbacks, emotions spiraling out of control, and having a catastrophic experience with your boss. Besides, she looks familiar to him with her blonde roots showing through and her glasses are not prescriptions.
Who is Arianna Bradshaw? She's hiding something alright.
All hell breaks loose in Chapter 16. Find out what happens. Enjoy and happy reading!
Since I've been reading a lot of military sci-fi, this caught my eye - I'm a romance lover and I live in the tropics, so Hawaii + former Ranger = right up my alley. It's a sweet story that's pretty well-paced. The addition of a little girl was nice although it didn't overpower the story. This is very light, without a lot of heavy emotion to drag it down. Generally books like this don't have much substance beyond all the sex - but this maintained a nice balance between a sweet romance and something of a plot.
I skipped all the racy parts but if you like that kind of thing, there's plenty. Not so much to overwhelm though.
I got this free on Kindle, so my expectations were fairly low. It's nice that it went beyond those.
Kate has done it again! Well written strong men that aren't afraid of sassy spunky strong women, great settings that make you feel like you are there taking in the sunset and looking to see where the whales are, unexpected plots that can make you think about what taking that leap of faith into trust and love really means and lastly that ohana isn't just the family your born to but are also those that you meet on this journey. Can't wait for the next book! If you haven't read Kate Aster's books before get this one quick and when you're finished check out her other series, Make Mine a Ranger is in my personal top 5!
I really want to preface this review by saying I really liked this story.
I’m really confused as to what the title of this book actually is. The cover says A is for Alpha. It also says at the top of each page A is for Alpha: A Daddy in Training Standalone. At the end of the book there’s a note from the author that says thanks for reading, More Please. It also appears it’s part of a series not a standalone. The book was very nicely edited so I know the author spent time on this book. Whatever the issue is with the title and/or cover really needs to be cleared up. In spite of this confusion I think I rated this book fairly. There is no baby by the way.
A little girl brings two people together. Can and his brother's invested in a condo in Hawaii when they were at a cousins wedding a few years ago, and now they are living there full time. Dodger made himself available to a single dad friend from the Rangers that if he ever needed help with his little girl he would. So when he gets a call he steps up, even to his brother's dismay. Annie run back to Hawaii after being accused of sleeping with her boss a U.S. Senator, she was his kids nanny. But all the pictures didn't show her fighting him off. Now Annie works in a daycare and is babysitting Stella.
Cam is a former Ranger, living the bachelor life, when he has to suddenly care for a 4 year old, the daughter of a friend who's being deployed. Annie is the babysitter he hires to help him out. Neither are looking for long term, and it seems like the perfect arrangement. It was an okay read. I don't like knowing that Annie has this secret from her last but not knowing what it is, although there are hints that are dropped along the way. The resolution seemed a little too easy, but overall it was a decent story.
Camden is a no commitment type of guy. Except his family, friends, his country, and his military service as a ranger, no commitment. He agrees to watch the daughter of a friend. Annie specializes in child care but she also has a huge secret. Cam helps her with getting her reputation back but also realizes he wants more. He really has to rethink that no commitment clause. As for Annie though she said she wanted nothing more, what woman wouldn't want a man like Camden? Loved this story.
Ms. Aster never disappoints! This is another fun story, and I really liked the romance. Cam and Annie are both interesting characters on their own and they bring out the best in each other. Stella was adorable and her interactions with everyone were so heartwarming. The plot was interesting, and I liked trying to guess what Annie's secret was. I really enjoyed Dodger and Fen and hope they get their own stories soon!
Set in Hawaii, three brothers, each named after a famous baseball park, live their lives lost military. Camden is the unlucky brother who had to leave due to injury. He has just had a fellow Ranger give him his daughter while he gets redeployed. Annie works at a hotel daycare, after fleeing D.C. And a giant career ending mess. They bump into each other while she is putting babysitter flyers on cars. This chance meeting could solve Dan's babysitting needs and get his brothers off his back.
I don't give many 5 stars but I REALLY enjoyed this book. I loved the relationship between the brothers. How Cam DID NOT hesitate to step up to keep his promise made to help his fellow Ranger out when the got deployed. How protective Cam became toward Stella and even his brother grew to love the little girl. Through Stella Cam met Annie. Both Cam and Annie went in with eyes open....never expecting anything. Even Fen could see through them. Who would not want paradise in paradise.
This was a quickie palette cleanser after three 5 star reads in a row that I picked up for free recently. Aster was a new-to-me author so I had no expectations and I liked the premise of an ex-Army ranger who has to temporarily take in a 4 yo girl for his brother-in-arms who was deployed unexpectedly. The #metoo conflict that drove Annie, who was a nanny to a cheating senator to Hawaii came to a resolution rather neatly and I'm not mad at it. This HEA served its purpose.
I read a lot of romance fiction during the year. Sometimes over 300 books a year. I rarely give a five rating on a romance book. But this book, even with a predictable trope, was unexpectedly enjoyable. The combination of an un expected child into a bachelor household, and a nanny on the run worked as a great romantic combination. I'll read the entire series as a result of reading this book.
After reading this awesome, hot, sweet and did I mention hot book, I have decided I am moving to Hawaii! Ms. Aster has done it again! She writes such wonderful characters, that you can't help but fall in love with them! You can not afford to miss this wonderful love story!
This is a quick read but I really enjoyed it. So much so that I purchased the other 5 books in the series! I liked the story between the two main characters and the relationship with the brothers was funny and touching. There was romance and a bit of mystery. Well written and well edited. No cliffhanger, either!
Annie and Cam have both survived catastrophic events. His was physical damage from an IED, and hers a deadly blow to her reputation. However, together they heal each other while taking care of a 4 year old. This story is a revealing story of brotherly love (and taunts),but staunch support when facing problems.
First time reader of this author and I was not disappointed. Very light and entertaining read. The characters are likable, some blushing moments and a nice HEA. I’m interested in reading the entire series so let me sign on to Amazon and purchase the remaining books. 😀
A picture says a thousand words, but several pictures can say the most important ones...
Annie's journey to find peace was never meant to include a future in paradise, but when you throw in a sweet little girl and her Alpha uncle, well let's just say plans might change. Happy reading : )
A great read! I’m not a big fan of stories told in first person, and even less when it alternates characters, but I rally enjoyed this story. The characters are complex and interesting, the plot had great pace, there’s romance and sexiness, and it kept my interest the entire time! I can’t wait to read the next two books!
