"Friends with benefits, stepbrother with benefits, what's the difference?"
-----
Rule #1 – It's only supposed to last for a week...
-----
Ethan is a cocky, arrogant jerk. He's always been that way. Why do girls trip over their own feet just to be with him? I don't know! I'll never understand it. Don't they realize he's just going to ditch them after a couple of weeks?
Yes, he can be nice when he wants to be. It's true that he's ridiculously attractive, too. It's not like I want to stare at him when he walks around shirtless, but it's hard not to notice someone like him. He's got that bad boy smile that makes you want to...
Did I mention he's my stepbrother? Ick.
What? You think I'm falling for him? Nope! It's impossible.
This story starts DEEP in the heat. 🔥🔥🔥 Ethan and Ashley have been very, very naughty during summer break from college. I love the taboo aspects and the love / hate relationship between them and look forward to more!
I listened to an author's copy of the audio book. I enjoyed the two narrators, CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh. They are well suited for the characters.
The storyline is interesting, but.... It really just wasn't.... The writing was awful. The whole talking to the reader thing got old. That is one of the biggest writing no no's. Cutting the paragraphs off like I did above was super annoying. I'm not sure the f bomb could've been used more. It was actually offensive. I don't get offended easily. This was vulgar, and I will not be wasting my time reading the other books. Also, there were grammar and punctuation mistakes everywhere.
If I was ever catfished, that’s probably how I would feel.
I will be direct and plain as was this book. I expected something fun, fast, and quirky. A little tabo* short story to work as a palette cleanser This was a mess.
The writing was all over the place. It was juvenile, unorganized, and just messy. I haven’t cringed in inner monologues as much as I did in this book. The fact that the characters addressed directly to the reader and the manner they did so, was…well horrible. Breaking the fourth wall might have been a fine idea for another book, with different writing.
I lost count of how many times the mmc told himself and us that he was a bad guy. Not to be left out, the fmc decided to reassure herself and the readers that she was a good girl. Multiple times. As if that wasn’t enough they had to reveal those facts to each other as well. As if they didn’t already know each others’ personalities. And yes you guessed it, that also happened on numerous occasions. That’s too many mentions of the phrases “good girl” and “bad guy” for a 100-page book.
As for the chemistry and the spice, some reviewers commented that they liked the intense steam between the characters. Sure there was some steam, but the spice scene was also the most anticlimactic. I wish I could describe it as basic but unfortunately, that would have been exaggerating.
Last but certainly not least, if we removed all these spaces between the sentences, the book’s length would be decreased to half, which arise my question as to why this book is separated into multiple parts and not combined in one proper book with plot and coherence. It feels like one of these story apps where you have to unlock each chapter with some kind of currency like gems. It doesn’t feel like it ends on a cliffhanger, more like a book with one-third of the chapters stolen or like in this case sold separately.
Did I like it? No. Would I reread it? No, thank you. 1/5⭐ 1.5/5🌶️
im not even sorry for giving this 5 stars! i know its taboo and i don't effin care. im enjoying every pages and the fact that this is just a novella makes me want to vomit giddy rainbows add the fact that its already on its 18th book. Moly freakin cow! im so excited with this! i know its not different from the other books that i have read but it feels different, like it was new and refreshing, probably because Ethan sounds like he's talking to me in there. ugh! he's so sexy even for a fictional character i might cry. now lets go to the 2nd book bitches!
Oh my god. I devoured this. I forgot about sleep. Haha. Enjoyed this a lot. That ending was torture, but in a fun-tastic way! I want to jump straight to Book 2 right away, but I don't want to leave my current reads!
This was an alright read. I was grateful that it was short, but I want to see how the story will continue. I think the story was okay. I thought there would have been more to the story. I felt that the characters were okay in this installment. I did not love them nor did I dislike them. I just felt like there could have been more done to their character development. The ending was a cliffhanger, so I am curious to see how the story continues. Overall, an okay read.
I actually enjoy the whole narrator-character-talking-to-the-reader thing, so this book was right up my alley. It’s a lot of inner monologue (and outer dialogue) for something that’s basically just smut—but if that’s your thing, it works!
It’s short, it’s hot, and I really liked the MMC. This is good old-fashioned forbidden smut, and I’m rating it purely off vibes. I like the vibes - it is fun, not a noble prize! I did this as an audiobook, and it’s narrated in a duet, which I always prefer; and I enjoyed both the narrators!
This is the story of Ethan and Ashley. Her mom married his dad and they are now step siblings. They have known each other since grade school and have shared a kiss. Ethan is the resident bad boy – can have any girl he wants and is very cocky and arrogant. Ashley is miss goody two shoes! She follows the rules and is known as the resident good girl. While she is not naïve, she seems to have very low self-esteem. She likes to second guess everything and have all these conversations in her head that drove me crazy. It was a cute story, but I do not think I will continue on with this series as I think the series could have been done in less books with more character development and less inner monologue with yourself.
I received a free copy of this book via Cherrylily ARCs and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like the tabooish stepbrother/ stepsister stories, so needless to say I really liked this one too. It's a series of short stories that males up one whole. So yeah, you have to but them all, preferably at once. Because if you're anything like me, you'll go through them really fast.
Oh man. This was short, sweet, and straight to the point. The very first page started off with Ashley and Ethan hooking up. It wasn't until after that, that we learned more about the two of them Ashley is the typical good girl, though not as inexperienced as most books have their main girls, and Ethan is the typical douchebag type. I loved both of them, and the sex was pretty enjoyable to read. I think they're both in way over their head, as it seems they both have more feelings for each other than they're willing to admit to themselves right now. It will be interesting to see how this deal falls together (or I guess I should say apart since there's no way they're going to stop after that week is up)
Well I know it's a bit of a taboo subject but I actually enjoyed this first book of the series (must admit wouldn't have started it if the series wasn't complete and all the books weren't available as I hate waiting ) but anyway back to my review, I did actually enjoy this book, I liked the dual POV's and am finding their thinking quite humorous 😊 Onto the next book
i won this .. a Cherrylily Giveaway??! does that mean something to you? great read ... i guess what you might consider a taboo subject ...but they are not really related ... different parents ... u decide ... fun writing style ... no clue what the cover was ... i got nothing ... just the book. check it out.
This one is a split decision for me. On one hand I loved the whole taboo relationship and the steam. On the other hand, I was no fan of how the story was presented and shame on me for thinking this book offered a self-contained story, which it doesn't because Ethan and Ashley's tale continues is the next book. I am a HUGE forbidden romance junkie, but this was just not for me.
The author ends this story on a cliffhanger so you want and or need go read the next book so you know what happens. It is a typical bad boy good girl story. It is well-written leaving g you wanting more.
I know I'm going to be the odd one out on my reasoning for reading this series but honestly I find it hilarious. The sarcastic humor is spot on for me. I'm not sure it was intended for the reader to laugh this much but I find it incredibly enjoyable (laughing I mean). The hot step brother doesn't hurt either ;-)
Narration speaks to the reader (don't like), and there was too much repetition with very little content. And 20 novellas!
Some people seem to have really enjoyed this book, but I sadly can't say the same. It had some steamy parts and some of the banter was fun, but that's about as much positivity I can put into this review.
Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to the premise of the story. Sexy and taboo can be a lot of fun. What isn't a lot of fun is reading something where the characters are talking to YOU, the reader. I just can't get into that. At all. I don't need Ethan telling ME how arrogant and cocky he is or how much he satisfies his no-strings-attached ladies. I also don't need Ashley telling ME what a good girl she is all the time. I'm supposed to be an unknown onlooker, not an active character in the story. That's not how 1st nor 3rd person narrations work. It was extremely annoying, and I almost DNF'd numerous times, but I stuck it out because I'm not a quitter and try to keep going in case a story redeems itself. It didn't happen for me here.
Also, there are 20 episodes to this novella series. 20! While I wouldn't mind finding out how Ethan and Ashley's relationship progresses, there's no way I'm reading nor paying for that many. It's ridiculous, especially when I had a hard time making it through the writing as it was. Unfortunately, I won't know the rest of their story.
Here is a case of only of three years of being step siblings from fifteen to now eighteen. However, they’ve known each other since second grade hence his name for her Princess or Miss Perfect since she was always a brain with great grades and never ever did anything wrong.
On the other hand she would call Ethan by both his names always ETHAN COLTON ever since second grade because he is even now a bad boy like back then. A reason you’ll have to read to find out about. But don’t let these two fool you. They appreciate each other more than their sexy body’s. Ashley seems to enjoy the freedom and confidence Ethan has to think, say, and just do what he wants not caring what others think. Ethan admires Ashley’s brain, her sweetness, caring, and her ability to go far with it brain.
This does come in installments so this is the first. I really enjoyed it. The bantering meant to be jabs still done in jest although Ashley needs to understand her words can hurt. Simon doesn’t seem as bad as he puts out but more of a man who is falling in love for the first time. So, it will be interesting to see where the author takes their characters. Received during July-Aug. book giveaway.
I really enjoyed this book. I dont even care that it was a short read because after all the hot sex i read about in book one, there is no doubt in my mind that I'm going to continue with book two and three and ...etc. :) i love sexy forbidden romances! I even like the way its written; like my friend is telling me about her experiences 'in great detail' over coffee...with lots & lots of cursing lol :)
This is a novella about Ethan, the cocky step brother, and his brainy step sister. I like the characters in this story. I like the storyline and I will be getting every installment in this series. These two decide to be like friends with benefits because they aren't really blood related. They have already had sex before coming to this conclusion. This agreement is only to last for a week. I need to see what happens. Great reads.
