Do you know what a Triple Axe is?

Normally, it is a specially made axe that has three heads – one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the middle. You need special training to be able to fight with it, or it can do more damage to you than your opponent.

But, every now and then, as with this story, it means something completely different. You see, when two axes meet, and the male loves the female enough to pay her a few bucks to have sex with him, but they don’t know their handles were made from the same wood – so, brother and sister, get it? – and she becomes pregnant and gives birth to three ret…ahem, SPECIAL baby axes, they are called Triple Axes. Granted, it doesn’t happen as much as you would think. But there are exceptions.

So, what we have here is basically three axes who are all related but look totally different. One looks like a blunt knife, the other a spork and the last one…well, just imagine a broken penis with twigs instead of testacles. None of them will ever be the sharpest of their kind and, not to sound sympathetic, but you can’t really blame the parents for abandoning them on the scrapyard.

Right, if I still have your attention at this stage, you should know I am totally full of shit. None of that happens in this story – it might be true, though, some of you will never know.

Okay, pornstars, serial killers and axes, what can go wrong?

I am really honest with you when I say this story shouldn’t deserve more than 3 stars for its sophistication and the amount of plot holes, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t have a smile on my face through most of this story. I really enjoyed it, for some reason I can’t even fathom and don’t want to spend too much time thinking about.
Think popcorn-movie with words.

Recommended to those who like silly things.

Ice Pricks

This novella delivers more humor than serious chills, but it still worked for me. A killer is targeting porn stars with some coldly crafted weapons. After several deaths, and not being taken seriously by the police, three of the leading ladies get together for revenge. The humor is tongue (or something) in cheek, and the dildos are flying. Some of the porn stars' names had me laughing in public. Read this one for the entertainment value. Heidi Ho!

First half of this hilarious novella was for me something like Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof with pornstars and the killer using a funnier signature weapon than a car.
The names of the actors/actressess/movies made me almost laugh to tears sometimes and the plot-twist just after the psycho's origin tale was totally shocking and unexpected.
More black humour and sex here than horror, but I totally enjoyed the ride and had lots of fun.
An amusing quick read if you are into grindhouse b-movies

Triple Axe is an amusing little serial killer tale written for those of us with warped minds. This isn’t a story about an investigator hot on the case and hellbent on finding the murderer. Nope, it’s not that at all. In this case, the serial killer is targeting porn actresses and the police just don’t give a crap about them. The woman are insulted when reporting their story and the police refuse to take them seriously. It is extremely infuriating.

So the ladies, tired of being targets of a cowardly murderous freak, take it upon themselves to do something about it. It may involve axes and nudity and glorious, raging revenge.

This story is so much fun. I really had a blast reading it. I know that probably sounds terribly weird but it’s funny, despite all of the murder and mayhem. It moves fast and the characters are well written, tough, resilient and likable. It wasn’t over the top gross but there’s blood, a little gore and a lot of sex, boobs and body fluids splashing the pages. If you’re up for this type of insanity, I highly recommend TRIPLE AXE to all of you kindred souls!

I also love the fact that the author dedicated it to all the dirty birds, lol, and I can’t wait to read more of his writing.

*I received a copy of this book from the author. It’s a good thing I liked it but even if I didn’t, I’d still tell you the honest truth!

3.5 stars, rounded up.

Ho, Ho, Ho....

Nope, it's not Santa Claus. It's Jesse, Foxy and Selina--three porn stars who are tired of being disrespected and mistreated. When they realize that porn stars are being murdered, they seek help from the police, to no avail. They decide to band together to avenge their friends. Armed with axes, they come up with a foolproof plan to get the killer before he can strike again. Ah, but those best laid plans....

The names of the porn movies and stars made this book hilariously entertaining in itself! The plot was great and even had a twist. I thought the background/history of one of the characters was most riveting and enlightening. Some things did seem a bit too far-fetched to me (such as the weapons) but I realize it's all part of the fun and humor (which is why I rounded up).

This was a unique, fun, engrossing and very creative story. Now, please excuse me while I go make some frozen vaginas daiquiris. :-)

Triple Axe is what I'd classify as a straight-up horror comedy. Someone is killing adult film stars. When the police are of no help, Jesse and her two friends decide to fix the problem themselves... with axes in hand!

Listen, if you read the synopsis of this little book, you'll know right away if it is going to be your thing. It is raunchy, vulgar, and gory, which is to be expected. I mean, it's published by Grindhouse Press, and that's a great example of the tone. It feels very much like a 70s Grindhouse flick.

This is a little raunchier than what I typically go for honestly, but I like most Grindhouse films and thought Triple Axe sounded bonkers in every way. Also, the author is a nice guy and was very kind in sending me a copy for review.

So, my verdict? It is bonkers in every way. No surprise! And even though the sense of humor differs from mine, I still cracked up more than once. The world of Triple Axe reads like a heightened reality where anything goes. It is not meant to be taken seriously in any way, instead opting to give the reader a crazy experience that builds to a... eh-hem... climactic ending.

I can't necessarily recommend Triple Axe because it's clearly not going to be for everyone. But if this sounds like your bag, give it a go! It's entertaining and Scott Cole's narrative voice is full of snark. I could have used just a liiiiitle more chopping in the first half of the book, but when it finally does happen, it is quite satisfying.

I'm really curious to check out Scott's other book entitled Slices which sounds a little more my speed. But still, Triple Axe was an interesting, quick read for sure.

This was an incredibly fun, lady-centric slasher story! Given the premise, readers should expect some very adult subject matter, including plenty sexual content and f-bombs. The story was not actually erotic, but it certainly did not shy away from the realities of the porn star experience. The female characters were smart, spunky and very likeable. Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read. I would recommend this novella to any reader who enjoys a rather adult horror story.

3.5 ⭐️ // A bit ridiculous, a bit over the top, but I had a fun fun time. I laughed a lot. I loved all characters. I loved the feminist vibes and the pro sexual freedomness of the book. I loved that all of this took place within the adult film industry, complete with film sets and character names that made me LMAO. The writing could have used some polishing, imo, and some things that happened didn't make much sense but it was all fun anyways. I had a good time reading it.

3.5 stars rounded down to 3!

This fun and weird little novella was a humorous spin on women in the porn industry taking back their power from those trying to silence them. I really enjoyed the feminism and “good for her” vibes throughout and was genuinely grossed out by some kill scenes. Not to mention I actually LOL’d at some of the stars names, it really helped to break up all of the darkness and gore.

While this got to be a little ridiculous at times and is MUCH more on the comedic end of the horror spectrum rather than serious, I had a really fun time and finished this in one strange sitting. Recommend this one to people who are looking for a lighter horror read that doesn’t need to be taken too seriously!

Triple Axe was such a fun read! I know this is going to sound crazy, but the right person knows what I mean - if you need a feel-good slasher-esque novel, pick this one up. This was the first time I've read anything from Scott Cole, and I was very happy with his storytelling.

I would call this book horror comedy, and most of the book is pretty amusing. The porn stars have amazing names, and I liked the characters. I loved the fierce girl gang set-up & that they banded together instead of breaking apart.

This book was not as brutal as I expected it to be, and it was kind of a relief. There's a solid level of grim and gore, but it's not splatterpunk. I thought Triple Axe was well done, and such an enjoyable read!

3.5 out of 5 stars. A slasher-murder mystery set in the porn industry with enough boobs, butts, blood and gore to satisfy fans of either genre. Not to mention some of the craziest and funniest porn star names to ever be put to paper. Selina Southgate? Anita Kochnow? Leia Onnerbach? Freaking hilarious.

Humor and blood filled slasher

An enjoyable slasher style story where pornstars are being systematically murdered. If you want an excuse to read a book where a sex toy sword fight is a legit possibility, this is your book.

If you’re expecting the next horror masterpiece, this ain’t it—unrealistic and filled with plot holes.

However, if you don’t take it all too seriously, this is a hilarious novella.

Several years ago I watched a movie with the great Robert Englund and Jenna Jameson called “Zombie Strippers!”. It is a horror/comedy about, yeah, you guessed it, strippers who become zombies and attack the costumers. It wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad either. I just thought that it wasn’t a movie for everybody. Who would’ve thought it a movie involving a porn star was not for all audiences?
Well, Triple Axe is the same. It’s not good but it isn’t bad at all. The idea of it all seemed very good but I felt that somewhere along the way. Scott Cole’s writing is accurate but most of the times the dialogs feel very simple. And some of the descriptions provided are sometimes unnecessary and plane.
I get that the main characters are porn stars, but there was a time when I got tired of Dicks and Pussys jokes. Most of the jokes just weren’t that funny for me.

”Anyone without a stiffy, get out of frame in a jiffy.”

Jessie, the main character, wants to open her own film production company cause she and her porn friends suffer from the people already involved in the business. But I never felt that they had a real urge to do so, or even that it was a problem. And the man murdering porn stars never felt like a real threat. Most of the parts are just Jessie and her friends talking about the problems they had filming this or that scene. Or the discrimination they get from the society or even the police officers. But in my opinion this novella just reassures that image society might have about these type of working women.

“What was your first name again, officer?”.
“Richard”
“Huh, You seem more like a Dick to me.”

When the girls become aware of this killer, they don’t seem really affected by it. They just keep talking about who are they going to have their next scene, in which location, etcetera. That made me not care too much what happened to them. I was waiting for when they finally met the guy but that moment past so fast that it turned me so down than when the twist came I just wasn’t in the mood anymore, even if it’s a complete showdown mayhem.

When I read the synopsis for this I thought that it was right down my alley, but sadly it fell short. I expected more blood, violence and more likable characters. I get that Cole wrote a type B movie novella, like Zombie Strippers!, but unfortunately Triple Axe needs a pill of viagra to pump of its game.

Regardless, of all that, I enjoyed most of it and you should give it a try. Maybe you find it more funny that I did.

Scott Cole's TRIPLE AXE is a bare-all slasher through the adult film industry. It is as titillating as it is terrorizing. A simply crafted story full of gore in a style that is unquestionably Scott Cole's.

The premise is simple. The porn names are hysterical. Not much shocking behind-the-scenes stuff that most wouldn't already have a pedestrian knowledge of. This is slasher school 101 going on. Set up the pins and then knock them down, add all the blood you possibly can in the process. Its all wonderful, guiltless pulp.

TRIPLE AXE isn't going to change the world nor does it want to. This book is for those who soak up gory slasher flicks and b-movie horror gore without apology. If only we could find a porn director to make this a cinematic masterpiece. With a money shot.

My first read of Scott Cole and wow, that was a unique take on horror.
This porn industry story sheds a lot of the experiences stars endure, from the perceptions, crazy aliases, and disrespect from the industry. Still, its rare to find something like this.

I’m coming back for more of Scott’s work, because Triple Axe was violent as it was sexy.

Triple Axe rocked my freakin' socks off! This fast-paced horror novel thrilled from start to finish as it weaved together a gripping story filled with sex and murder.

I love a kick ass female protagonist. Jesse Jinx comes alive on the page with her sharp wit and ability to call out bull, characteristics that have gotten her far in the porn industry. She’s protective of her friends and eager to start her own production company, a safe place where porn stars are treated with more respect than her current situation. Her coworkers are onboard, until they start dying at the hands of a mysterious murderer.

Setting a novel within the porn industry is risky, but not for Triple Axe. Despite the villain’s disdain for adult film stars, this book never comes across as preachy. The villain’s weapon of choice disturbs yet delights with its absurdity. Gore and explicit sex splatter the pages, but Triple Axe keeps the mood light with a comedic undertone plus a sense of empowerment embraced by our female leads. It’s Kill Bill if The Bride were naked and being ravaged by men named Dixon Kuntz, H.R. Gagger, and Rod Almondjoy. The dialogue is authentic to the characters and drives the plot forward. There’s never a dull moment, never a break in the tension, never a moment to catch your breath. From the first to last line, this book grips you and takes you on a fun and wild ride.

My only suggestion for improvement lies within the back-cover description. It’s just a tad misleading. The description suggests the inciting incident occurs when the women decide to fight back, giving the reader a story filled with hatchet wielding revenge. However, it takes a rather long time for the woman to make the decision to become porn vigilantes. As is, the back cover gives away almost too much of the plot.

Triple Axe is a gritty, gore-filled, wet dream of a novel. Everything falls into place with a cataclysmic climax, leaving our heroines poised for a sequel, which I can only hope is in the works. This book is a cult classic without a cult. Join me as a founding member.

This is an enjoyable book if you're willing to turn your brain off a little. It has a lot of great moments and throughout the first half, I was really growing to enjoy some of the characters. It feels like it could be a great b movie. I thought the weapon of choice of the killer revealed in the second half didn't make a ton of sense though, it was a bit more silly to me than it needed to be. But it worked for what it was, as a fan of b movies, I turned that complainy part of my brain off and just enjoyed.

TLDR; Read it if you want a fun ride through a porn set being terrorized by a slasher.

A serial killer is murdering porn stars with a weapon that leaves no trace. Three female porn stars fight back with axes. There is plenty of humor (and hilarious porn star names) in Triple Axe, but never at the expense of the story. I thought the book was tightly written, fast-paced and believable in its depictions of violence whether one-on-one or involving a sprawling mass of sweaty bodies. Cole does a good job of telling the story straight and delivering some visceral horror along with the porn humor.

When porn stars start turning up dead it is up to a group of friends to save the day.
This novella was the book equivalent of curling up on the couch with some friends and a great slasher movie. It was fun and gory in all the right ways. Despite being a very short book the author did a fantastic job at getting the reader invested in all of the characters.
