Parents who are waiting for prodigal children suffer in shame and silence. Our journey took us from vibrant community life to isolation and back as we walked with our prodigal child. As parents are living in the space between the now and the not-yet, this book will provide a visitation of grace and hope for beauty in the midst of scorched-earth ashes.
What an incredibly hope-filled book! Though we don't have what one would consider a "prodigal" child, I was curious to read Rhoda's book in case we would one day face similar trials either in our children or in any of our dear friends' children. What pain in suffering! And what joy in homecoming! Rhoda did an incredible job of sharing her family's story in a most genuine and beautiful way.
There is so much goodness packed into this book, whether prayers to see a family through the toughest of times, encouragement and practical advice for healing...even family recipes we are looking forward to using. I am so thankful for the Schultz family in sharing part of their story!
As a footnote to this review, I'll also mention that my wife heard Rhoda speak at a women's conference and was incredibly moved. As well, I've had the pleasure of singing with Rhoda on one occasion and her depth of character and voice shined beautiful and bright!
