The McGavin Brothers #10

A Cowboy's Challenge

Rate this book
Bad timing never felt so good…

Wes Sawyer knows a risky proposition when he sees one. Pursuing a woman fresh from a breakup who happens to be his sister Roxanne’s best friend? Definitely a bad idea. But how’s he supposed to ignore the beautiful baker? He has a sweet tooth, and Ingrid Lindstrom’s kisses would taste even better than the pastries she creates…

After Ingrid’s ex turned out to be a cheating bastard, she vowed to take an extended vacay from men. That goes double for the hot cowboy down the hall. Getting involved with Roxanne’s big brother could spell disaster, putting friendship and family loyalty on the line and destroying the life she’s built in Eagles Nest.

But she never expected to face the temptation of a muscular Wes wearing only a towel…

Just before this book came out, I had been reading some paranormal stuff and some history and rather heavy things. Then I saw this title and thought, "Yes!" I really needed something that was light on angst and high on romance, and the books in this series always deliver that. I dived right in and smiled my way through.
The book opens just before the July 4th parade in Eagles Nest, my favorite small town. It is a fun beginning because everyone is there and having a great time. The three-legged race is a hoot! Quinn and Kendra set everyone on their ears with their footwear, and Wes gets to show his true colors as a Sawyer gentleman. Then there is the dance -- sigh. By the end of the day, I know I was in love with Wes. Ingrid needed a little more convincing, though.
I loved Wes and Ingrid as a couple. They had a lot of chemistry, but they also had a good emotional connection. They had interesting conversations as they got to know one another. They are both kind people who are trying to understand each other.
I really love the small-town feel and the recurring characters. I feel like I know everyone in town. We get to check in with them and see how they are doing. And when they talk about the year Ellie Mae and Cody won the three-legged race, it is hilarious because we already know them. It all adds to the atmosphere and makes these books terrific reads.

Talk about hot, fast and sweet, this latest edition to the McGavin Brothers series (although we are a few books past thr brothers and mom) is all that and then some.
VLT knows how to write guys with heart, heat and stamina and spunky, gals who can't help falling for then.
The spark between Ingrid and Wes flames hot as the asphalt on the Fourth of July, when this Sawyer son literally rides up on his horse and hoists her up for a parade stroll then sweeps her off her feet when they fall on and for each other at the three-legged race. Their sudden relationship may be no picnic for the heaRtbroken Ingrid, but he'll carry their secret and the relationship to the end in the sane flourish He carries her her across the finish line at the race. His wooing of her with heirloom tomatoes and veggie pizza is as sweet as the treats she makes daily at the bakery downstairs.
VLT leaves you as filled as a heaping of blackberry cobbler and ice cream on a hot July day while still whetting your appetite for more of the most elusive Sawyer, Gage, with a sample of his upcoming tale.
* Thanks VLT for the ARC. You make reading and writing an honest review easy.

Beyond Adorable!

I'd like to start off by saying that this is the longest series I've ever read and given that I don't particularly like to read books that are a series this in itself is a huge compliment to Thompson.

I love the town of Eagles Nest and Thompson continues to portray it so well with every book. She knows exactly how to write small town charm and this book really portrayed that without needing to explicitly state said charm. This book really made me miss Guelph (a small town I was fortunate enough to spend some time in) and reminded me why I loved it there so much.

This is one of the cutest books in the series I think. Wes and Ingrid's love story is cute and simple despite the complications they face.

It's definitely a feel good read and was exactly what I needed to read during these past few gloomy days.

I was fortunate enough to receive this book in exchange for an honest review and I would highly recommend it.

Ingrid & Wes Sawyer
Wes has taken over the lease for Roxanne and is now the third roommate above the Pie in the Sky bakery. His vet business is taking off and he is very busy. Ingrid is in a slump because she just surprised her boyfriend in Boston and found him cheating. she's taking a break from men and it seems to be going ok until she gets too close to Wes.
it all started when he gave her a ride on the back of his horse at the 4th of July parade. then they did the 3 legged race together and came in last. Wes was definitely attracted and played it close to the vest with Ingrid because he knew she was recently dumped and doesn't want to scare her off. Ingrid didn't know how to move forward and projected her fears onto others.
learning to trust again with someone new is hard and it takes a leap of faith to love again. Wes is the ultimate good guy cowboy and made the best main hero. Loved it!

We are back in Eagle’s Nest, the home of the McGavin brothers . their significant others, and friends. ‘
In this one, and I suspect future stories, they will only have secondary parts.
This story belongs to Wes Swayer, the son of Kendra’s boyfriend Quinn, and Ingrid Lindstrom, the beautiful baker in town.
They are neighbors and attracted to each other, but Ingrid has just ended a relationship gone bad and has no desire to get involved with anyone, least of all Wes, who is the brother of her best friend.
Though I found the it entertaining, for me it was just ok. That said, it’s a story about trust, the “healing power of love”, self-respect , and second chances.
It was more of a 3.5 star, but I respect the time and dedication authors put in to entertaining their readers . I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The McGavin Brothers Series is one of my very favorite series! I love reading about each member of the families of Eagle's Nest. Wes and Ingrid have a strong chemistry and both are such wonderful people, the kind you can be friends with. Wes is not just dreamy looking and sexy, he's honorable, loyal, hard-working, and sweet. He's the perfect romantic hero. Ingrid is struggling with heartbreak after her boyfriend cheated and it's hard for her to trust. She's sweet and caring and a talented baker and cook, which is a plus for Wes since he has a sweet tooth. :D I loved this story! It's always great to hear more about the ones who've found love in the previous books of the series. I'm looking forward to reading Gage's story. I recommend this book!

I voluntarily reviewed this book and this is my honest opinion.

This is a fun, steamy and sweet story. Wes is charming, determined, funny and sweet. Ingrid is stubborn, insecure, kind and caring. Wes and Ingrid are nothing more than acquaintances who live in the same building, until they run across the finish line of the 3 legged race. At that moment they notice each other, and Wes knows that he wants to know Ingrid much better, but she just got out of a bad relationship and isn't looking for another. Until she does, but only if they don't tell anyone, which Wes doesn't like. Things happen very quickly from there, but not all good. I love all the stories and characters in this series, you can't go wrong with any of them.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

A Cowboy's Challenge (The McGavin Brothers Book 10) by Vicki Lewis Thompson.... I love cowboys and this is one of my favorite series... Wes Sawyer...my new love..Quinn's son..brother of Roxanne, Pete and Gage.. Ingrid..getting over cheating boyfriend...Roxanne's best friend.. Wes is living in Roxanne's old apartment ..just down the hall from Ingrid...let the fun begin. Their story is sweet, funny, sexy and heart warming.. Revisiting all the old friends in Eagles Nest is always fun and I can't wait for the next book...Would it be Gage and Emma...what is she hiding? Then there is Pete what will his story be?

I can't imagine why a woman wouldn't fall for the Cowboy and renowned Vet Wes Sawyer. Even his name oozes sex appeal. But Miss Ingrid thinks she can keep her feelings and heart guarded as she and Wes spend more time exploring their attraction and 'friendship'.

Ingrid won't let the news of their relationship become public because Wes' sister Roxanne is her best friend. Lame excuse right? But she stands her ground and evens threatens to break poor Wesley's heart in the process.

If you are looking for a light hearted romantic read with a sexy cowboy as the star, this book is exactly what you are looking for.

Delightful Romance.
Wes Sawyer is the new handsome vet in town. Ingrid has previously only thought of him as her best friend’s older brother until that is they become neighbours. Her last relationship ended badly, she is grieving and has trust issues; how can she be falling for a new man so soon? Wes however has no doubts about his feelings for the beautiful blonde baker - how long will he be prepared to keep their relationship a secret?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When it is a romance by Vicki Lewis Thompson, you can rest assured it will be entertaining from start to finish. Loved seeing the McGavin/Sawyer family and catching up with old friends. I cannot get enough of them and their adventures. Ingrid has trust issues as a result of her boyfriend's cheating. Wes, the new veterinarian in town, meets Ingrid. He likes what he sees and so does she. She is an excellent baker and he has a big sweet tooth. That fact started them off on the way to a HEA.

What a wonderful, light, but sexy romp between Wes and Ingrid! They are both newer to town, but friends abound! Wes is the new veterinarian in town, and busy as all get out, but definitely finds time in his schedule to fall for Ingrid. Being a baker is all she's ever wanted, and her hiatus from men gets interrupted during the July 4th festivities. A great read all around! AND the Epilogue! Now I'm dying to read the next in the series!

Wes followed his family to Eagle's Nest and now he has a pretty good set-up; a thriving veterinary practice, a cushy apartment above a bakery and a budding romance with the lovely Ingrid.
After her last relationship, Ingrid is a little hesitant to get involved again, but passion overwhelms common sense and Wes proves to be too much temptation. Now, if she can only get over the past and grab onto the future Wes is offering.

The McGavin brothers series just keeps getting better. A Cowboys Challenge introduces us to veterinarian Wes Sawyer who happens to be Quinn Sawyer’s son. The Sawyers have connections with the McGavin family, mom Kendra is in a relationship with Quinn. His children have decided to relocate to Eagles Nest and now it’s their turn and Wes is the first to “fall” and who better for him to fall for then Ingrid!

Love this! The McGavin brothers are men who work hard and love just as hard. Wes knows what he wants and is man enough to put his cards on the table. Ingrid is a little timid and needs some convincing, I like that she is not a drama queen though and I love how Wes helps her deal with her insecurities, lol. Very delightful and heartwarming addition to the series. Can't wait to read Gage's story, loved that teaser which already has me pondering what's next. :)

Another good addition to the McGavin Brother books. Of course this time it is not a McGavin who is featured. Instead it is Wes Sawyer who arrived several books back. Seems that he rents one of the apartments above the bakery where Ingrid Lindstrom has one of the others. A great set up for romance but with a problem. When is too soon not too soon at all. Great seeing some other new characters arriving for future stories.

Sizzle and humor = Great book as always

I have never read one of Vickie’s books that I didn’t like. This one is great as they all are. It’s got sizzle and humor all placed in the perfect parts. Wes is fairly new to Eagles Nest, but this book will make you love him as much as you already love Ingrid and the rest of the crew.
